Who is your favorite actor or actress? Mine is probably Harrison Ford. Lets do a run down of his more famous movies, shall we?

Star Wars (trilogy)
Indiana Jones (trilogy)
Patriot Games (part of a trilogy)
Blade Runner

Ok, that's the bigguns ... I don't want to list anymore.

For the females, I like Sandra Bullock a lot. I like Meg Ryan too. For some reason I'm not so picky about the woman.

So who's your fave?

I love Edward Norton (especially in American History X and Keeping the Faith) and Morgan Freeman. As far as females, my favorites are Stockard Channing and Natalie Portman.. I'm sure there are a few others, but I'm too tired to think of them right now.

well i've got a close call on my favourite actor , it is either AL PACINO or MICHAEL DOUGLAS i like the oldies better more class

favourite actress would have to be PATRICCIA ARQUET now she can act , and shes a bit tasty as well so there you go :D

hope i spelt the names right :p

There is to many to mention for me but if I had to pick one right now it would have to be Jessica Alba. God she is hot! I love watching Dark Angel everyweek. :D

Hmm - an interesting call. Okay, let's pick out a couple.

Russell Crowe - has a quiet intensity about him, which given some of his lighter roles in his early career in Australia is curious
Robert De Niro - I don't think he's been trying lately (Ronin being a prime example), but when you see him in things like Goodfellas and Heat, yeah, he's pretty handy
Al Pacino - I think he's actually only got one character, but he does it so well
Chow Yun Fat (the guy from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) - his Hong Kong films are fantastic
Gary Oldman - what a range! The Fifth Element, Dracula, JFK, Rosencratz & Guildenstern are Dead

Female - gee, it's tough to call it on grounds other than who you find attactive- guess it shows how actresses are actually dealt with by the system. I've always had a real soft spot for Madeleine Stowe, but I have no idea how good an actress she is...

Well, she's just in a really hoaky part right now. I'm sure when she decides to 'make the jump' to the silver screen, she'll be able to show off her skillz.

Well, I can't speak for LoudMusic, but in my case I find it exceptionally hard to go past how good looking she is. She seemed quite good in 12 Monkeys (but hey, she was opposite Bruce Willis)

At least I'm not the only one who thinks that. I love all the movies she has been in. Especially Idle Hands.

Okay - there's some confusion here - I'm talking about Madeleine Stowe, LoudMusic is talking about Cindy Crawford.

Didn't Cindy do something with one of the Baldwin brothers?

Ah, perhaps we're all a bit confused. I thought we were all talking about Miss Alba. Yes? No?

I think ... to be able to properly create an opinion of someone's acting ability (or lack of), you have to have a referance of their own personality. You have to know them a little. Otherwise, your opinion could be generated from them being themself on stage or screen. Inwhich case your opinion is of the person, not their acting ability.

But you reply, "Ah yes, great and wise LoudMusic, but what if their life is but an act as well? What then? How will we know?"

And I would say to you, "A man who's life is but a story told by himself is not telling a story, but telling a lie, and he is not living a life, but living the lie he is telling."

Which you would reply, "Huh? You been hittin` the wacky weed again?"

Nah, I just get like this sometimes ...

Not sure I agree with this. You can reference a person's acting ability by how well they play multiple parts. For example, Al Pacino only plays one character, whereas Robert de Niro does not. Since they are equally adept at showing their respective characters, the one with the greater range is the greater actor. This is why although I really enjoy his films, I didn't nominate Nicholas Cage, because he too is one-dimensional on screen.

Good insite. I failed to mention this point. And inversly, an actor who always plays similar roles could be pegged as a weak actor. This also has something to do with their agent, though.

Playboy Magazine called James Garner perfect. Perhaps not, but if you have seen the Rockford Files you know that he is quite real in his performance.
