Doesn't your choice of app pretty much depend upon which one all your friends use?

That said, I'm signed up for MSN, Yahoo and ICQ, and I find that MSN is the best actual messenger software.

I like MSN the best. It's very user friendly, and the newest MSN 6 has a lot of customizable options which adds to the whole IM experience.

Program? iChat, no doubt. I used to use Adium, but it's a bit ugly compared to iChat.

ICQ support is horrid on OS X, and few people seem to use it these days.

MSN Messenger for OS X is okay, but obviously lacks many of the Windoze-version features, and the interface is ugly enough that I installed a hack to aquaify it a bit.

Trillian. Its clearly the bets Windoze IM app out there. But if you have a Mac you definitly want iChat.

I use AIM because all of my friends use it. It's allright.

I have just about every IM, but MSN Messenger 6 is the clear winner, to me atleast.

just there are a lot of people who uses aim that plays popular games.. like counter strike, nitto, warcraft, etc...

but personally, icq and msn for me.

Going for MSN 6.0, seems to be quite a bit better than prior versions. Trillian was great until they found that hole to exploit. That was some time ago, however, so I'm sure they have patched it all up by now.

Trillian is useless for me. I only ever use my 1 MSN account, as everybody I know uses it.

That's exactly why I refuse to use it. I refuse to be on the same chat network as the majority of the computer inept. I use Trillian. I have only signed on to MSN once.

I have a few AIM accounts, 1 YIM account, 1 ICQ account, and 1 MSN account. I use Trillian to connect. I only use AIM and MSN.

I use Trillian Pro for AIM/Yahoo. MSN Messenger is also something I use. I prefer Trillian Pro it has a really good interface. But MSN Messenger also is great. So Its a hard choice.

I like msn it is alot easier then other messenger programs. I have been using MSN since it came out.

Man i never knew there was a progream like Trillian, i know who my best instant measing progream is now..., only thing i don't like about it right now is that i can't clone my AIM. Or if you can, can some one tell me how?

I like AIM. I prefer Kopete, but that is Linux only. I'd use iChat because it looks beautiful, but is only for OSX. I think Trillian is ugly, so I don't use it for MSN and AIM at the same time. Kopete does that and is much better looking.

Kopete is nice, but it's kind of unstable. Gaim handles MSN, AIM, and ICQ protocols...and there is a Windows port which you can download here.
