"As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master."

– Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri

Compassion and kindness without truth are neither kind nor compassionate.

"Behold. The festering carcass of American rot shoved into an ill-fitting suit: the sleaze of a conman, the cowardice of a draft dodger, the gluttony of a parasite, the racism of a Klansman, the sexism of a back-alley creep, the ignorance of a bar-stool drunk, and the greed of a hedge-fund ghoul - all spray-painted orange and paraded like a prize hog at a county fair." -- Oliver Kornetzke

"I thought that was the stupidest 🤬 thing.... You build a lot of goodwill around the characters of Hicks and Newt and Bishop, and then the first thing they do in the next film is kill them all off, right? Really smart, guys. And replace them with a bunch of 🤬 convicts that you hate and want to see die. Really clever.” - James Cameron (producer of Terminator: Dark Fate).

WARNING: contains major spoilers for Attack on Titan!

"Sasha was a hunter. Even as a wee girl, she shot varmints in the forest for us to eat. That was just our way of livin'. But I knew they'd come a day when we'd have to give up that style of life, so I sent Sasha away from the forest. She went into the world, became a soldier, shot people far yonder, and got herself shot. In the end, though she left our forest, the world is a great, big forest where everyone is fightin' for their life. I reckon Sasha died 'cuz she wandered in the forest too long. We've gotta keep the younguns out of the forest. Otherwise, aint nothin' gonna stop it from happenin' again. That's why it's up to us adults to shoulder the sins of the past." - Artur Braus.

The more you pay for it, the less you are inclined to doubt its authenticity.

"The world has never been fair, and cannot be made fair, and claims that it can are foolish or dishonest. It can be made fairer and attempts to make it less fair can be resisted. Optimistic realists seek improvement, not perfection."

Tbf I think that‘s true for most people, regardless of nationality. 😂

Most people aren‘t able to learn from mistakes either.

I don't think Roosevelt's quote applies to British people. Judging from the events of recent years, we don't even learn from catastrophes.
