Today I was walking outside and I hit me that this is my favorite time of the year. Football season, getting colder outside, Thanksgiving around the corner... I love it. Autumn just has a really happy atmosphere associated with it.

I'm not a huge fan of summer like most people are - I'd rather hit the slopes than the beach. Winter is good, but by March I'm usually getting a little sick of constant 20 degree weather. Spring is great too, just for the novelty of warm weather.

So what's your favorite season of the year, and why?

I prefer this time of the year most. It's finally starting to get cold (by California standards.) I love to freeze in front of a fan next to an open window every night.

Yeah, my body temperature would probably suggest I'm dead.

I'd say the same, my favorite apart from the cold. F1 seasons over, the Premiership and Championship football leagues start getting really warmed up and ideas of who's going to do what start to show. Slight sense of xmas in the air already. Bonfires, fireworks, chilly nights and all wrapped up...

....bugger me I'm getting sentimental

Summer would be my favorite season. I've found it's a lot better for night time activitie. The weather during the day is great too, of course. I prefer to be more active during the summer, going bike riding and being chased by thousands of flies.

Every season has it's own charmes. I like this time of year (autumn) because the leafs on the trees are very nicely coloured. Summer because of the nice warm weather. It gives me the feeling that I'm free.

Winter is still my favourite season. I grew up with snow and skiing. So I can't wait to get back to Austria to hit the slopes again.

:)

:dopey:

My favorite season is defenitely Winter. In Winter things seems to be not rushed like in summer and its awesome to walk in the mountains when its incredibly cold, I like the ice that builds up on trees and the sound of snow crystal crushing under my feet.
I also like that the sun rise is very late in winter, I cant sleep when sun rises at 4 am shining in my face waking me up. Winter is also better for me because my blood pressure is always high and I just cant sleep in summer when its 86F°/30C° hot in the night. Last summer I slept 3 hours a day 2 months long!

I also like fall but I prefer the coldest time in the year, hence my birthday is on 29th december.

Winter.

I think that both threads are going to be merged into one thread.

I voted autumn but I dont know how to write down why its my favorite atm so Ill just say why summer is not my favorite which I would assume is most peoples favorite. Because it gets too hot and when your traveling on the bus, train or if you are sitting in traffic in your car with no a/c in the heat its a real piss take. Sexy girls in skimpy clothes dont quite make up for it.

Suprised at how many people vote for winter, im one of them:D cant stand heat, sitting hear in this room feels like summer and its annoying the hell outta me, wheres teh cooold!

Why is the poll out of order? I picked the last one on impulse thinking it was winter.

Anyway, in Florida, it's always best right when Winter starts.

Winter FTW? - i can only guess that those who have voted for winter don't have to get up early, in the dark, when it's freezing cold, spend 15 minutes defrosting their car before struggling to drive to work because the change in weather has turned every other road user into a driving numpty. You then spend what few daylight hours you have shacked up in an office before struggling to get home again in the dark - repeating this for 5 days out of 7 for the next 5 or 6 months :grumpy:

Spring is the best - furthest point away from winter!

I hate winters since I live in Michigan, it gets miserable about this time of year and it lasts until April. I like late spring which is on the verge of summer, 80 degree days with 50 degree nights, a nice amount of rain that makes everything green but enough nice days that you can enjoy being outside. The same goes with early autumn, the days are still warm and the nights are fairly cool making sleeping easy. Also the trees are starting to change colour so it looks nice, especially on a drive through the back roads.

I hate summer, way to hot and humid (90+ and about 98% humidity), and winters are way to cold (10 or below, wind chill going down as low a -30, lots of snow) and there is nothing I hate more in this world then snow. I plan on moving out of Michigan once I finish college so I don't have to deal with it.

I love spring, because the weather is at it's best in this time of the year.
Summer is to warm, and spring has more dry weather.

If winter would mean a lot of snow, i would be tempted to pick that as my favorite season, but it doesn't.

I said Winter. Can't stand the heat, and have always loved the cold and rain. I'm also looking forward actually having snow on the ground.

BUT, this is Michigan now, so we'll see how I feel about winter once March comes around....

I would recommend Seattle or Portland. It doesn't get much above 80 in the Summer and hangs around 4o and raining with dips to about 20 in the winter.

How I miss that weather.

Fall is definitely my favorite time of year. Nothing beats waking up on a slightly cool, sunny day that you know will get warmer - but not too warm.

+1, I definitely agree. In NW Montana, the mornings are crisp and fresh. The evenings are comfortable to sleep, and the afternoons are 65-70. Can't really go swimming, but all other outdoor activities are perfectly enjoyable. The colors of all the changing leaves are nice treat.

I love Miami in Fall. Just under 75 degrees.

Still hasn't happened, though. Usually in late November.

Unlike many who've already posted, I absolutely hate this time of year. I find autumn in Manitoba to have something fundamentally depressing about it - everything is brown and grey. Brown grass, naked brown and grey trees, grey skies 90% of the time due to cloud or farmers burning stubble, temperatures hover around freezing, the air is dry, and it gets dark out at 6pm. Autumn honestly puts me in a miserable mood.

Based purely on weather, winter here sucks. Days where the expected highs are still -50°C just aren't very uplifiting. I empathize with TheCracker.
But, I do enjoy snow and most winter sports so winter earns a few points there, and sometimes a clear day when it's -25° out can be a bit refreshing (taken in moderation).

I prefer late spring/early summer. The temperature is where I prefer it (15-25°C), by then most of the water from the thaw is gone, stuff is green, the chicks who have been forced to bundle up for winter are all too anxious to pull the short skirts and tight tops out of the closet 👍👍, and there's tons of daylight.

I only like Winter because my birthday and Christmas occur during this season.:sly:

Winter FTW? - i can only guess that those who have voted for winter don't have to get up early, in the dark, when it's freezing cold, spend 15 minutes defrosting their car before struggling to drive to work because the change in weather has turned every other road user into a driving numpty. Nope, I chose winter and I had to get up every morning at 6 am. I didn't mind driving to work at that hour. Sometimes I drove by biclycle, even when it was freezing, sometimes by car.

Belgium is obviously better set up than in the UK for when the weather turns bad. Even though we do get snow and ice every winter in the UK, it still manages to suprise us like it would do if Jamaica suddenly woke one day to blizzards.

Word.

I hate this time of year, just after the clocks go back. Suddenly it's daylight until you leave the office. Pah. That and the fact that the amount of sunlight around = how good my mood is - if it's bright and sunny, like it was this monring, that's how I am; if it's dark and miserable, that's how I am.

Hence why I love spring. It's colourful, it's warm, it's bright, there's 6 months until the miserable weather returns, and it's usually when the motorsport season starts.

Summer all the freaking way. Mmm, the sun is shining, roll downtown to skate and meet up with some pals and when it gets too hot you just take a dip in the ocean. Awesome, can't wait.

Summer for the win! Driving around with the top off is nice :)
