Your Favourite Modern-Day Supercar?

Pagani Zonda.

Juan Manuel Fangio took part on the design of the car. That alone makes it my favourite supercar.

My favourites weren't on the list. Well, they were, but I don't consider the 911 a supercarand the Alfa 8C gets pipped to the post for me by this:

Spyker C8 Laviolette

Whether it's worthy of the "supercar" tag performance wise I'm not sure, though with a minimum of 400bhp and the engine in the "right" place it's plenty fast and supercar-ish enough for me. The styling has all the detail and drama you'd expect from a supercar and the interior feels special too.

Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce. I love Murcies, and this is the bad-@$$ one of the bunch. Sexy, quick, exclusive, what more do you need?

Supercars. Pah. Things for people with money. Give me a Working-Class Hero any day. Sure, it'll get blown into the weeds, but I won't look like a complete cock driving it.

I don't know which companies joined to make Spyker but I do know that Spyker runs Audi engines. The Laviolette pictured has the RS4's iconic 4.2L V8.

Zonda - of the Cinque roadster variety.

Yes - sometimes it looks aweful - but I don't care.

I'd settle for an F roadster quite easily though :p.

In proper supercar territory the Reventon is probably my favourite so I voted other... but off that list I was tempted to go for the M5..

Pagani Zonda F. looks, sound, huge engine that runs on diamonds, sound, style.. did I mention sound yet? :dopey:

What I dont understand is why a corvette is on your "list" but not the Viper. Im sorry thats just not cool. Not saying anything is wrong with them just that you cant include the vette AND the GT then omit the viper.

I think the OP was doomed from the outset. Trying to create a poll of every supercar since 2005 is not that easy. Maybe people should just post their answer regardless of whether it's on the list or not. My choice would probably be the Maserati Gran Turismo.

Yes, the GT-R. If it's not a supercar then it's a supercar killer :D

What kind of car is meant by 'Supercar'?

A car that can break the eight-minute barrier for laptime at Nurburgring Circuit in Germany.

A car that run continuously at 300km/h or more on the autobahn.

A car with a power-weight ratio of less than 4.0kg.

^That what I found from GT-R official site 💡

It was a joke. Just so you know, I'm poking fun at the idea that a lardy land yacht like the Continental can be thought to be a supercar.

Sense of humour miss on my behalf then ;)

To be honest, I don't see most of the cars on the list as 'Supercars'. 'Supercar' used to be a term reserved for a very few cars - 'statement' cars. Now it's banded about for anything with 500bhp+.

In addition to outright speed, for me a Supercar needs to be..

Dramatic styled
Mid engined V10 or V12
Low volume build
Not have any lower level versions (powered/specced)

There are a few exceptions to some of these rules - a Ford GT for example.

So for me the following would never be 'Supercars' no matter how much performance they had...

Any current Porsche (bar the Carerra GT)
Any Corvette
Any current Ferrari (bar the Enzo)
GTR's
Any Bentley
Any Aston
Any current Jag
NSX
Saloon cars like the M3/M5/E63 etc

If anyone wants information not supplied on the site (i.e. press opinion), I have a good article from Perfomance Car that may come in handy.

I voted for the Bentley Brooklands. Probably wouldnt be in most peoples shopping list for a supercar, but I think it ticks the crazy box, has a ton of power, an awesome sounding engine and practically oozes class.

On top of that its a Bentley thats not a footballers car, so it manages that rare achievement of being a super(ish) car thats not completely driven by (insert preferred expletive).

Second choice would have been the Alpha 8C, simply for the looks!

Call me Old-School. No modern-day supercars from 2005 to present replacement my favorite supercar from '90's. McLaren F1

I did not see that coming

I am confused. Do you mean you had not seen the car before, or you did not see me supporting it?

+1 to that too. And McLaren have released their first official update for the F1 a few months ago. Does it count as a new car now? Joking.

From the 90's, while I don't actually know very much at all about how it drives, I very much prefer the Isdera Commendatore 112i.

Admittedly the front could look better but for reasons unknown it still strikes me as being quite good looking...I might have to get back to you on that one...

Aaand then there's this:

Italdesign/Lamborghini Cala. Seen the only one ever made when I was a little kid at the 1994 Adelaide Motor Show. Ironically while I was sitting in the Lamborghini Diablo just opposite it.

I don't know if you've noticed but all the Zonda Rs are naked carbon-fibre...and most other Zondas in general are made out of carbon-fibre.

Hmm, I guess they are now that I look at a few more pictures of them. From a distance I guess it looked more like a matte black than naked CF, I guess it just stood out a lot more in that picture since it was so close up

Erm...and your username is after a car that you only rencently found out was made of CF .

I really like the Cinque roadster and the F roadster the same.

Heres some trivia - if you want your F in naked CF, its going to cost you 20K pounds (iirc) because then they have to focus on getting the weave just right. Thats 20,000 pounds for them NOT to paint the car.
