OK, I'll admit to being somewhat confused about the game structure of FC.

What exactly is the difference between the Ferrari Challenge mode (all F430 cars, I know), Trophy & Arcade:

Is the AI difficulty setting relevant to all these modes, or only Arcade? Do you unlock higher difficulty settings only by playing in Arcade mode? Does the AI automatically ramp-up as you play through Challenge & Trophy? When you finish Challenge mode, does the difficulty ramp-up if you play it through again?

F430 Challenge mode is like a season of races. You get one qualifier and two races per "weekend" or track. You get points depending on where you place for each race during the weekend. Those points go towards an overall points standing. I haven't finished a challenge so I don't know what happens at or after the final race. I think the big confusing part is that you have to finish a whole weekend or the results don't get saved.

I'm not sure what arcade or trophy are really about.

Well, I appreciate the effort, Zathra, but not very helpful! ;) I have finished F430 Challenge season: you get an overall result for the season.

What I'm really trying to understand, is how the AI works. In the Options there is a setting for AI level. What modes do those settings work for & what do you have to do to unlock the harder levels?

The AI's main objective is to kill you, it will be the prototype AI for Skynet!! :nervous: :scared:

Could somebody please address this question - I remain as as baffled as ever.

In OPTIONS you can set the Difficulty on Beginner, Intermediate, Expert, Dynamic, you can also set the Duration for 5, 15, 30 & 45. BUT what modes do these settings refer to, because:

in ARCADE there are 4 Difficulty settings WITHIN the mode: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert & (not "Dynamic") Legend which you have to unlock within the Arcade mode. The Duration for each race is automatically set on 5 mins.

In CHALLENGE the Duration is automatically set on 7 mins in TROPHY the Duration is automatically set on 10 mins. In QUICK RACE the Duration is a choice between 3, 5 or 7 laps. There is no setting for Difficulty in these modes - does that mean that the Difficulty setting in these three modes is the one set under OPTIONS?

I don't seem to be able to get a 15 min, 30 min or 45 min in ANY of the modes, regardless of what the Duration setting in OPTIONS is.

Has anybody spent enough time experimenting with the settings to understand clearly how & where they work?

I am a bit puzzled by this also. IN trophie mode after you complete a race in the screen where you see how many credits you earned. There is a bonus for trophie dificulti I dont know what this is eather ?

I did some experimenting with Quick Race - Monza - trying Beginner, Expert & Dynamic settings in the Options menu. I ran a few full grid races, but then decided on Vs. (1 on 1) to reduce the number of variables involved in running against a a full field.

I was able to easily win each race, but the races was closer in "Expert" than in "Beginner" & the times of the other, second-placed car were faster in "Expert" than in "Beginner". This definitely suggests that the Difficulty settings under Options DO effect the AI performance in Quick Race mode (it does not, however clarify whether this is also true in Trophy & Challenge modes - something that will be much more complicated to figure out systematically).

However, I also found that the opponent car in Quick Race with the difficulty setting on "Dynamic" was much slower than it was with the setting on "Expert". So what does "Dynamic" mean - perhaps "random" AI?

I wish FerrariPro would explain this...

I think Dynamic means that the AI kinda adapts to your driving style, after a few races it should drive at the same speed as you. I dont think it works out that well though.

I remeber at the launch of the game there was no dificulty settings. But there was mentioned that the AI would adapt to the users style. Maybe the Dynamic AI is the original AI from when the game launched.

I still find the AI to be crazy no matter what settings it is just to agresive, that is my biggest gripe with the game in its current state. ( Please note I am not critisising the game, because i really like the Game, and would recomend it to anyone ). Just if they ever make a new patch I really wich they would make a setting with fast cars, but not crazy ramming into you, stoping right in front of you in the straight, driving you off track sort of behaviour.

I think the AI is critical to how the game plays. I don't find the AI "crazy" at all. The only annoying thing that it does is consistently, is pulling alongside on a straight & refusing to budge from its line as if it's completely unaware that you're there.

The AI IS very slow however - slowing down excessively at some corners. The only difficulty in beating the AI is in making your way through a full field from the back before the race ends. I think there should be a setting where the AI gives you a tough one-on-one race, where each position has to be fought for.

I have definitely established that the Duration setting in Options DOES work in Challenge mode & that the Difficulty setting in Options DOES effect the AI in Challenge mode. Now, with the difficulty setting on "Expert" the AI drives faster, making the racing reasonably tough & competitive. 👍 I still think there should be a more difficult setting, as I am still beating the AI fairly easily & I would like to struggle more to be able to win on the hardest setting.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the patches. I'm really looking forward to getting online with some good races - if it works well, it will make a welcome change from running Suzuka & Fuji 50,000 times! ;)

Now that I'm racing the "Expert" AI in FC I'm enjoying the races - it's easier to avoid rear-ending the AI cars because they're driving pretty fast. I don't think the AI level of difficulty is close to the level of F1:CE where even after a couple of hundred hours playing, it can still be a struggle to keep up with the AI cars on some tracks.
