Feature I'd love to see - Event Designer

I think it's great that GT5 lets you trade cars, paint, horns, and tracks you've made... even though I haven't done any of that yet. The feature I really would love, though, is to allow us to create our own A-Spec or B-Spec style "events" and share them. I like the A-Spec racing, I look for ways to keep the challenge in it, choosing a car that doesn't "walk away" from the pack (unless I'm grinding credits on the american oval at Indy...) The downside to me is that once I get my FGT and do the Dream Cars event, A-Spec is done. B-Spec Bob (C. Kline & P.Rey) are at the same point.

I know there will be the endurance races, but they don't interest me, really.

Instead, I wish other players could create A-Spec events, choose the track, laps, and conditions, set limits on which car, which tires, HP, etc can enter, choose the opponents that will be in there, and "publish" them as downloadable challenges. It might actually give us a chance to use some of the 1000+ cars this game has in some challenging and entertaining races.

Seriously, this is the one feature I'd ask for. It would expand the replay value infinitely for me - especially if it had a formula for how many creadits / xp you got for the races, so there was some form of reward for them. (Maybe just a standard based on your position and how far ahead of the pack you finish, and what level the cars in the race are).

Thoughts?

That would be a great addition! I can see possibilities.

- All honda cup with 250HP limit, similar to SCCA honda cup.
- V8 sedan championship (4-door).

They had an event designer in GT2, but they never carried it over. Wish they had though... 👍

A proper super GT championship with pit stops and mecanical damage and qualifying sessions.

So many beautifull premium Super GT cars (about 20 or so) and only 3 races in A-Spec :S

Even Enthusia and FM1 had similar "event/track day" designer options - never coul dfigure out why other games never adopted these features.

Well one thing is for sure. PD dropped the ball big time in the limited scope of A Spec this time around!

They need to either do what you suggest or do a similar thing for online.

As it stands, the game might lose its appeal to me once I finish the A-Spec & B-Spec portions, I dunno. I haven't found the License tests and Special events all that satisfying thus far. I'm playing with a DS3 (too lazy to find a way to set up my DF Pro where my PS3 is) and the challenges are just to precise and limited for my current desire of gameplay. I just want a good tight race.

I'm really hoping not, though. I got GT5 in the hopes that it would replace iRacing for me, so I don't have to keep paying that monthly fee. The quality of racing over there is much higher, but the scheduling headaches of it are a pain when you have a family, which is part of why I like A-Spec... I can just pause when I need to.

Heck, if I could even set up my own events against the AI like that, I'd be happy. Sharing them would just be icing on the cake. I guess I could probably do single make races in the Arcade, haven't looked in there much, but I like the challenge of variety, etc.

There were indications we'd get this again, and there were definite statements that this was in the works for online play, but this will have to wait for those ever promised updates.

This and an increased A-Spec event list really need to happen to give GT5 the longevity it deserves.

A thumbs for this 👍

Being able to select number of opponents from 1 to 15, to allow you to to create touge battles to a full multi-race season.
Select the tracks and order, and even use your created tracks. Then allow you to save it and export out to the XMB to be shared (along with the user created tracks so they work on other PS3s)

Put it too Kaz!

I'd love to see this.

Re-playability would increase dramatically with such a feature. Even a random event generator would be good enough...

I'd like to see this too. The possibilities are endless, even spec-cups where you can "hire" the specific car (e.g a modestly tuned mk1 Elise) for the events. Lots of things regarding restrictions and regulations could be transferable to online also.

+1000

Being able to create your own event would be a blessing. Even creating your own championships.

+ Eleventy Billion

Let the game decide the payouts based on car types and diffculty, I don't even need prize cars. I just want some interesting, longer series to run.

Oh! I love it! I bet it would have been WAY easier to do than the track designer... that isn't really used for lack of the MP component... in fact I'd like to see them stop worrying about online until they get exp and money worked into it...

I'm all for the event designer and would gladly pay for the DLC of it assuming they work in the exp and cash rewards based on distance and laps etc.

Yes yes YES! 👍 👍 I'd think this kind of idea would be SUPER easy to implement into the game...

Good call! An event designer might well be the best thing to add to GT5.

It would be really nice if user and/or PD created events could be submitted to the PD servers and made available for all to download and race, complete with leaderboards. Tracks from the Course Maker should be usable in the events. Events could also be made available as templates for online races.

I hate to be "that guy" but this is EXACTLY what you can already do in Forza 3 and with all sorts of filters/choose race by time trial/timed race/laps. Choose each ai individually etc etc. Scaled xp and cash.

What you all want AND WHAT I WANT is for them to do pretty much what was done in Forza 3's event generator.

Isn't this also one of the things that code let you do for GT5P recently also?

Just make the current events regulations tighter...I can take any car into the stupid hatchback championship

thats not the problem, this would let me create a series like so:

Cars: LMP/GroupC (not sure what PD considers these cars)

HP: 900max

Weather: variable

Laps: would like to be able to set individual ammounts for each race or even set some to be on a Clock, like have a 30 min race at La Sarthe.

Tracks:
Daytona Road Course
Monza
Nurburgring GP
Circuit de la Sarthe 2009
Fuji Speedway GT
Cote d' Azur
Rome
Suzuka Circuit
Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course
Laguna Seca

*bump*

Fantastic Idea, best I have read in a long time.

You could set up the whole Championship any way you wanted and then depending on the factors (number of laps, difficulty, Pitting etc) the amount of credit rewards could be calculated and awarded.

This would really set GT5 apart and keep it fresh....for a VERY long time.

Anyone got Kaz's Phone Number? *g*

PD will think, oh but what if a player selects a race with 16 of the most detailed cars, on the most detailed track, with the most challenging weather! The PS3 will melt.

Since they have been so restrictive in the events currently available, I think the last thing they will do is let it completely loose. Can't really explain the thought process behind this, it's just a hunch.

The Event Creator could restrict choices based on previous choices.

16 car fields: half must be Standards

Time variation: unavailable

Weather: unavailable

Still, this does need to happen, and should be fairly easy to code.
