I don't think it's very likely they keep their servers in their offices either. But then again, this is PD we're talking about. ;)

There was a video of interviewers coming to PD's offices and their server farm was inside the building. I'll try to find it.

Either way, migration of the structure would be complicated enough to slow down progress in a significant amount, though.

Riiiiiight.

"Yamauchi then showed us the server room. Impressive mainframes, large storage capacity and the latest and fastest computers available are used to bring their dreams to life. These machines work 24 hours straight and are in a glass room precisely cooled and ventilated. Yamauchi told us that they rent some of these marvels of technology to universities and research centers to assist in their calculations. He also emphasized the crucial role they have played in the development of new physics in Gran Turismo 5. “Without them, it would have been impossible to reach the levels we have achieved,” he said."

I felt like just adding the most recent that I could find.

Great pics. 👍 It shows clearly how close they keep every aspect of development to themselves, even all the servers. I hope they have a fallback location somewhere, because from a business continuity standpoint, keeping all your marbles in one place is not smart.

I once heard that PD had the most powerful server in the whole of Tokyo.

After the completion of the scheduled maintenance on the GT5 online servers, there is no new patch yet.

Kaz promised "Features & Content" for both September and October, so we appear to be at least another week away from the next patch.

No new maintenance schedule yet to confirm when this may be though.

Can someone explain to me that was September and October or September or October? :dunce:

Allegedly " September & October " , that's the official line.

It's now September the 19th , we've had the DC seasonal , ( A feature ) .
Plus a Remote Race update , ( Content ) .

No tweet from Kaz stating what we can or should expect.

Therefore , in conclusion , we've had what they promised.

Welcome to the fully finished version of GT5 with 200 cars.

Thanks PD

don't waste your time hoping, there have been no additional driving features (i.e. cars and tracks) since realise. I see no reason to think they'll change a habit of a lifetime now.

As far as i'm concerned i'm moving house next month, if there's none of content that been promised and implied for years available by the time the net gets sorted, i'm through with the GT series and moving on to Forza

Yeah it's such a shame remembering how Gran Turismo has always been at the pinnacle of racing games in the past. I've been watching some videos of Forza 4 right now and I have to say that it looks stunning. GT5 was such a disappointment for me.
I remember when GT4 came out and it was just amazing it moved the whole racing genre of video games on. I remember how one time one of my friends came to my house having never even heard of GT before and played it for the first time. He disliked racing games as a whole but he loved it so much that he went out and bought a copy a week after. GT5 just doesn't have the same "wow" factor that it's predecessor had. I suppose we will just have to see what PD and their poor management will pull out of the hat next.

In all fairness, so did GT5 a few months before release and all games look good in pre-release trailers/gameplay videos. I think it's best to save judgement until it's out (though it does look good indeed!). ;)

I dont really trust PD; it has been 6 months, and no real features as all has been addes, like cars, tracks, game modes, etc. I think its rude of them to ignore the features the erry own community wants.

And yet you would think its ok to leave the game unfinished?

Let them finish the game first, seriously people, everyone is blaming PD when really, who was it that demanded they get the game out before they wanted? SONY. Simple fact of the matter is, the game isnt finished and et people a whinging and complaining "oh where the 🤬 is our DLC waah waah wahh" How about everyone who is doing this, gain a little patience and wait, if you dont want to wait, well your problem. Go, sell your PS3 and GT5, buy an Xbox 360 and FM4. That'll shut you up. If you dont want to do that however, wait, play a different game, wait for them to update it to finish the game, then play and whinge about whats missing now. This year hasnt exactly been the best for Japan with the whole earthquake disaster, then PD moved HQ's. Just wait. If you dont want to wait, maybe you should have made the game instead of PD aye.

I'd like to see new features for this game but I'm not holding my breath by any means. Even if PD never updates the game again I got plenty to keep me occupied with all of the racing series that I participate in.

Sony made them release it as they were taking the 🤬 . Kaz wanted 7 years for development , yes 7. Somebody had a nice job rendering 200 premium cars ( Don't ya think ? ) People have a right to voice their concerns over a game , that by rights should've been released as a PS4 game , because they were too damn slow..... And what's all this about the earthquake again ? PD were unaffected by it. ????? A little patience and wait ? This game is almost 1 year old. Patience is running thin. You probably just bought it a few weeks ago , hence your overly righteous attitude.
My dog could've made this game quicker , and for the record , he doesn't speak Japanese.

:sly:

We should let them finish a game that should have been finished before release? Sound logic in that!....

I couldn't read this without giggling.
Sorry man, but this is the same hilariously bad argument that was being presented by the GT5 defence league 8-9 months ago and the whole 'go play Forza/NFS/make your own game crap is also just as stupid as it was back then.

The earthquake happened months after the game release btw. As for have a little patience or play FM4... You do realise that FM4 is being released 11 months after GT5 right? A little patience?

From the News page on GTPlanet, about the next car submission, it looks like nothing new until November. I will buy an Xbox with Forza 4, however, I can guarantee, that after approx 2 to 3 weeks, I and hundreds of dozens others, will return to GT5.
