It is obvious that only after a few days/weeks after the release of the most anticipated GT title, it came under harsh scrutiny and criticism. More currently, I noticed fans of the title have started to lose interest as more and more threads/blogs/reviews like this have begun to surface across many GT and gaming communities. Very unusual for such a mega title, but also understandable. Does anyone have any ideas as to what new features could be implemented to completely revitalize the fanbase?

Obviously PD did add Seasonal Events and Online UCD features which update weekly. Is it enough for the more accomplished players?

I see that some players get bored, having completed the A-spec/B-spec races and find Online gameplay extremely unappealing. Perhaps other players feel rather confined in terms of creative freedom (since this has become a factor over GT5's production) and could use something a little more engaging? Some of the new features seem unfinished or rushed, maybe they might need something to really solidify them as a viable time killer?

Gran Turismo 5 is different than all the other GTs in that it can have DLC developed for it to improve or enhance the experience. Perhaps new features could be a realistic option in the near future and perhaps PD might use GT5 as a testing ground in its later stages for "beta applications" intended for GT6. Now that we've all had more than enough time to base a well-rounded opinion of the game, what are some features that you think should be in GT5?

I'm not asking for more opinions on more premium cars, or tracks, or sharpened graphics on Standard cars... I'm asking for completely new but relevant features or even improvements on existing ones. Things you think are just missing and that would grab your attention. 💡

I would like the ability to create races for money and XP like in GT PSP. I am now stuck at level 30 grinding.

  1. Competitive AI
  2. Real Damage Model
  3. Actual races - with regulations
  4. Qualifying and practice sessions in events
  5. More races (as long as 1,2 and 3 are fulfilled)

but then 1 - 3 are the only things any GT has ever needed, but always lacked.

I'd like to see more classes in Shuffle Race Mode, online. It's a great idea, everyone gets a different, but fairly evenly matched car randomly for each new race, but it needs work. Right now, ALL you get are family sedans on Comfort Soft tires.

Where's the next level? Cars maybe 200hp more, on Sport Soft's? Then the next level, GT type race cars on Racing Hard's? Finally, LMP prototypes on Racing Soft's. You could even tie entry to the higher tiers to your Level in the game, to give you more of a REASON to want to level up, and to ensure that the GT and LMP cars weren't being driven by noobs unable to control them.

And, in the spirit of class racing, why not add a bit of extra weight to the faster cars in each class, so that they are ALL pretty even and only the handling and drive types makes a difference?

IT might also be possible to hand these cars over to a team of tuners, so that they handle better than the stock cars do (which vary wildly from one car to another) with a general tune good for most tracks.

I'd also like to see, at the end of a race, not only the total time for the race, but each car's fastest lap time. Sometimes, even if you lose a race (someone punts you out, for instance), there is a fair degree of satisfaction in knowing you got the fastest lap. It might be good for a few consolation cr. and XP, too!

This mode has SO much promise, but restricting it to POS daily drivers with Comfort tires emasculates the whole idea...

Well, as for creative freedom, even a basic livery editor (including racing suits and helmets perhaps) would expand this game and provide fun for a lot of people, sure not for everyone but drifting isn't for everyone too.
The same goes for the "free roam" or traffic-element Kaz himself mentioned he'd like to see or was planning to implement, the hardcore racers may loathe it (as they seem to loathe a lot of things) but it could be a new interesting element and I would really like such a thing.
As for online, I'd like to see a return of the PP system used in Prologue and a more comprehensive search function for specific races and the possibility to restrict the cars eligible from your favourites as well instead of just a few default "hire" cars.
I could perhaps go on for a while but this'll do for now.

I'd like to see full race organization style championships. Probably online.

So Instead of "here's 5 races do them all at once" an actual series where you regester a specific car (which will have to be Homologated for the specific series), there's a Race weekend with Qualifying (although you can just show up on Sunday and race from the back), and it goes week to week as a continuing set of events. Like a Poliphony made "Lobby" but one that can just work on autopilot.

And have it be oficiated on the server side, so it keeps track of points and wins and such and is reflected in your profile.

And some series of online experience development to keep the troublemakers out. Not sure how that bit would work.

But it should be like going down to an SCCA or NASA race weekend. And at the end of the season, you get a championship prize payout.

I may even sugest entry Fees to go in a pot?

More events
Qualifying
GT3/GT4 style chase cam
HP restrictions
A menu that shows the average P/W ratio of cars competing in an event
A standard car dealership

Competitive AI

It irritates me when people say this. If you use soft tyres in an A-spec event of course the AI won't be 'competitive'. Try using hard tyres, manual gears and turning the HUD off... that makes for much more intense racing.

Much much more events, and more laps than B-Spec.

oh please god this and Smarter AI too everything in gt5 is way.....too easy.

the ai in F1 2010 is much better at avoiding, overtaking and faster it gets annoying having to run a 300hp car vs the 600hp gt500's.....

Global/Friends/Local Track Leaderboards.
Custom Livery editor.
Selectable Radio Stations.
Install complete disk onto hard drive.

Reinstate License Tests a la Gran Turismo and get rid of Call of Duty APED XP, at least ape prestige mode too...

just one little thing, ability to save mid race ie during a pit stop and like the previous 2 games, saves in the middle of a championship season

My thoughts;
I like the licenses being optional, perhaps for those that enjoy them there could be exclusive events with extra special rewards that are only accessible once the tests are done.
Coming from the U.K. I'd like to see some more Euro metal, Sierra Cosworths, Lotus Cortinas, RS Escorts, Capris, Pug 205 GTI, Triumph TR's, Triumph Dolomite sprint etc, I'd be happy with these in standard mode, come on Kaz, we know you can do it.
Perhaps re-create old race series with cars to match, 1980's era British touring cars with Rover SD1's, Cossies etc.

Where is the damage?

Im level 25, and NEVER saw nothing like damage in the game.

Ok, one time the front of my car was a little crooked, but it was almost imperceptible and I crash about 300 km/h.

The Standards do not show scratches or something.

I know that in multiplayer there is a simplitsic damage system. But c'mon... I love GT5, but damages are simply pathetic.

I like Kuyaglen's idea of installing the whole disc on the system.

There need to be more events in the game. I'm still not completely done with golding all my licenses and I haven't finished x2010 challenge.

That doesn't mean there are enough things to do. They need an entire new series of events called "Even More Extreme," or "Extremely Extreme" or "Extremer."

I'm level 32 and I am excited about doing the 4hrs of Nurburgring although I haven't started yet. That's the last event in the game I'm really looking forward to doing It's just difficult to get the time and motivation to sit down for it.

I'd like to have some rally events added. I golded the Loeb challenge and the GT rally. I want more rally, but I don't want to redo the special events because they offer no xp or cash reward now.

I also think it's too bad that getting licenses doesn't give much xp. It takes a lot of tries for me to get gold and when I get a pittance of xp it slightly diminishes my feeling of accomplishment in a weird way.

It's like I just finished a piano recital (which I practiced for days) and I was hoping my mom would buy me a Transformer and she just buys me an ice cream cone or something. Maybe not the best analogy?

I'd also really like it if I could have a record kept of my best lap of tracks in A-Spec mode. What would really be nice is a record of top laps that takes into account the vehicle driven in the event. So I can try to beat my time

with my 787b or my Impreza or whatever.

I was just thinking it would be cool to have a chance to drive a car upside down. I know it seems extreme but I keep hearing F1 engineers saying that their cars produce enough downforce to allow the car to drive upside down

but they can't find anyone dumb enough to try it IRL. It might be fun to try in the game if the physics are right it'd be fun to see if they are just talking out their asses.

Install whole game on disc.
More events.
More xp for golding license.
Rally series with reward.
Lap Records in A-Spec.

im to the point that i think the game is a massive failure and they should concentrate on making GT6 what we all had hoped GT5 should have been.

A hundred more tracks, a thousand more races and more prize money, i seriously find it hard to earn cash without grinding, you have to grind in order to earn more cash. There should be a better balance in prize money and exp per race difficulty.

All cars and tracks unlocked in arcade mode.

If you think that PD has the talent, skill, will or funds to develop anything else (like more tracks, more premium cars, standard -> premium, better AI, better damage, fix graphical glitches, more and better A-Spec events etc) you are fooling yourself.

I am just being realistic...

1. Make B-Spec such that you don't have to keep pressing the maintain button to stop Bob from going cold. In other words, B-Spec that you don't have to babysit. Let Bob do the entire championship without you having to do anything if you don't want to.

2. Each A-Spec event should specify optional restrictions for good and great drivers that give healthy bonuses.

3. Ability to turn damage on/off in A-Spec races.

4. The ability to run championships online.

5. In-game clubs that facilitate the setting up of club events and a club lobby.

None of these is really difficult to implement but would make this game much better.

(Regardless, I love this game)

I would like the ability to create races for money and XP like in GT PSP. I am now stuck at level 30 grinding.

That would be perfect... basically it would allow people to create infinite "seasonal bonus races" and they should do something like GT5P where the level of difficulty (aka power/weight of your car vs the other cars in the field)
