Upon making a 150gb partition on my 500gb storage drive, I decided to install Linux/Fedora 10 on my PC to see if it could handing the Quad Core and SLI setup.

So far, the only limitation I have found in hardware support it the limit of 4gb's of recognized ram. This is strictly for fun, but it's kind of cool how easy they are making these linux install's these days.

I am more than willing to share a "How-to" but it was honestly so simple, I doubt anyone would need step by step instructions. In the event, just let me know, and I would be happy to help. So far it runs fast and clean.

Very nice, Pako. 👍 It's hard to beat that new-Linux-install smell. Is that the 64 or 32-bit version? A 32-bit OS can only address a little over 3.2 GB of memory, so it could be a source of the problem.

You should use a 64-bit Linux OS such as Ubuntu. The latest version even had the drivers I needed for my new graphics card.

yes, 32-bit and as expected, the full 8gb of ram is not detected. Not too far into the install so I may just re-format and install the 64-bit version (which I didn't see as a download option at first). And yes, the smell is grand. :)

Fedora also has a 64-bit version. The "yum install package_name" works slick. :)

Question. Can you play just about any game with a Linux base OS? And if you can which one would be the best? I would like to learn a little about it.

These days it's rare to have "big" games with native Linux support. Doom 3 is the latest I can remember. There are games for Linux, lot's of free ones and some paid, but not blockbusters.

You can emulate some games on Linux with Wine, but they don't run as good as they do on Windows.
