I don't know about you guys but i've been an avid fan of gt since #1 but after gt4 and seeing the pics for this 'HD' i don't think PD is putting enough originality into it.

I mean there seems to be mostly cars that have already been in 3 and 4, there are plenty of other sports cars around the world that don't make it, and i reckon they need to come up with some different ways to earn money than race after race after race....etc...etc.

Why not have some outright speed challenges which depend on tuning? They should definitely have 1/4 mile racing too.

Overall i'm not convinced that this game is going to be worth the money it costs even if there is ferrari and i am starting to lose my loyalty to GT especially considering the variety of new games on the market.

What do y'all think??:nervous: :nervous:

I'd wait until they release GT5. Only then we can judge if it is a step forward from GT4. GT:HD is just an improved GT4 and a GT5 preview.

GTHD Classic literally is GT4 with a minor graphical update. As the Interceptor said, we still don't really know what GT5 will be like, or what it will include.

For the record though, I wouldn't cite a "lack of originality" as my reason for feeling let down by GT4 (and I did feel let down)...I'll leave it at that.

I think for all intents and purposes GTHD should be considered GT5--it IS the next game in the series. As such, I expect it to be less of an experiment and more of a playable product. Hell, look at MGS3: Subsistence. It was an experiment. And it pwned. All they have to do is keep what they have, and throw in new stuff. I don't want to have to worry about if I got enough money for the next car I want to race. I wouldn't mind if it were NEW and came out after the game's release, but I still want a finished product.

I wouldn't say I'm let down. At least PD are telling us what we are getting before we get the game unlike EA and their sports titles. They charge full price for a game that they add a couple of things but rarely fix some issues that have been pointed out for years.

PD states that this is not GT5 but something to hold us over. Essentially its a better looking GT4 w/ online and a PREVIEW of what GT5 will be.

I don't see how you can be let down when they already told us that it is not GT5.....

I'll be let down if GT5 is not better than GTHD. GTHD is just a REALLY nice GT5 prologue for those us who never got to play one.

I have always been a big enthusiast for GT games but they should really do something to the engine sounds which sound like vacuum cleaner in every car.

Where the h*ll is the anti-lag system of the rally cars and screaming external wastegates of the turbo monsters. In my own opinion it ruins to whole feeling of racing when you don't have authentic sounds.

They also should put some new vehicles rather than the same ones we have been driving in every single GT game.

There are going to be another 90 vehicles or so coming in GTHD when it's finalized.

Anyway, if you don't want it, don't buy it, rather than feeling guilty and angsting on a message board. Like... what do you want, a pat on the back and a root beer? ;)

Thank You. That's the point! 👍

I dont really get why people allways have to be that negative about things. I am glad we get to play a brushed-up GT4 to kill the waiting time until GT5 arrives :)

Negativism or Pessimism is more like a way to manage your expectations on the occurence of something good. Many use it as a self-defense-protective-shield against deceptions.

Example: "WOW... Gran Turismo 4 WILL HAVE ONLINE". The ones that believed (like me) so much on that, suffered from a bad bad disappointment with this particular event. Gran Turismo 4 didn't came with online play and the 96% of hopeness went away like thrown in the wind. The remaining that expected online NOT available in GT4 didn't lose anything (hair, time, felicity -- whatever feeling). So, they are on the mood right now.

Now, let's say that GT4 was originally released online. What a good surprise would it be for the nihilist pessimistic ones. "Wheee! that's more than I ever expected". For him, its an enormous psycological happiness. For the ones that already were expecting so much just, its just the confirmation of something well abosorbed by their brains.

I would say GT isn't progressing enough, but where is something better? In fact, on a slightly different note, why is there no single game like GT for the PC that's at all modern and at all good? There are little sub games like GT-R and GT Legends but nothing anywhere near comprehensive.

I think the point is that those "car collection arcade kinda games" like GT belong on the consoles. The PC is more suited for the hardcore sims like GTR,GTR2 and GT Legends.

I disagree. The console is a machine dedicated to gaming so it makes sense to me that it should be used for the most complex of games. And now that HDs are becoming part of consoles, more boundaries are relaxed and even opened up completely.

Hardcore, but again, not comprehensive. I liked Midtown Madness 2, especially the number of cars that were made available for that. Still, it's not quite so important now that I use my Steering wheel and PS2 controller for PC games and I'll be using my PS2/3 on my PC monitor, it doesn't matter what it comes off!

Not everyone will agree, but I think Enthusia for the PS2 is a much better game than GT4, and Live for Speed offers a much more realistic driving experience than both Enthusia and GT4, because its physics are far more complex than what the PS2 could offer.

WE DON'T KNOW FFS... Jeez people.. can't we stop the whining until something REAL is here ?..

.....jeez.....

Fun though Live for speed is, and good though it's graphics are, I like GT4 more because of the real cars and what I feel is more engaging gameplay. I've never tried Enthusia, perhaps I should, but over the years I've become a bit of a PC Game graphics guru and I just don't like PS2 graphics any more...💡

Indeed, Live for Speed is lacking in the "content" area. That's why I like Enthusia -- it does a pretty good job of mixing the realism of Live for Speed with the content of GT4. Of course, it compromises both in the process, but the result is still a fantastic game, IMO.

Over half the people you talk to will probably tell you that they abhor Enthusia, while the remainder will probably tell you that they positively love the game (there aren't very many people in the middle). If it interests you, GTPlanet does have a forum for it.

Anyway, I seriously hope that GTHD and GT5 have physics reminiscent of Enthusia's, if not a bit better. That's really the only thing I'm hoping for. GT4's physics were a serious let-down after the only-somewhat-realistic-but-fun-anyway physics of GT3. I'll definitely be spending some time with the GTHD demo at my local EB after they get it, just to find out for myself.

I feel the OP brings up a valid point. I've often thought myself that there is a lack of forward motion in games (and these comments are not limited to GT). There is so many cool things one can think up, a couple the OP even mentions. I find it challenging why developers don't jump on this ship more often and strive forward instead of making baby side-steps like a lot of the computer hardware manufactures do re: performance gains:release schedule ratio. And with a game of this nature (massive content... vitually unlimited play ability due to self perfection type aspects). There is no real hurry to get another game out in a year. I'd be quite happy for them to create a stella game then take 3, 4, or so years to create the next. making the next one a super jump in everything. Just thoughts. :)

I think like others think, about the cars, they should take out cars that are more than one, ex: Skyline. Replace those with the up to date cars

A Skyline isn't the exact same car as a Skyline GT-R, and the only reason why Polyphony Digital decided to include multiple versions of the same trim-level of a car (such as multiple GT-Rs), was to include different "years" of the car in order to offer more paintjobs while maintaining "realism." As long as the bodywork was identical (or could be passed off as identical), this was done with only a miniscule effect on DVD space.

I don't think Polyphony Digital should remove any cars for subsequent GT games. I think they should hold on to as many as they possibly can, while adding more. Refining 3D models (or re-scaling the polygon count from the master models, if that's how they do it) and performance data that already exist on their computers shouldn't be that hard.

I played GT3 almost right up to GT4, I don't play GT4 very much any more. I enjoy the driving aspect, but I can't deal with the graphics any more...

Lol its not the graphics for me. I personally still like the graphics. But everything is so repetative. Im finding it hard to find something to do...but im really lazy anyway. haha

I don't really find that a problem with GT4 at all! I'd like to have another go at a GT game, maybe 4 maybe HD classic or whatever, with a steering wheel from start to finish. I typically use a controller, but trying that would get me good with a steering wheel and that's what I want to happen!:)
