Like most other racing games that have come out in the past 5 years, gt5 has been lacking female roles. It is the 21st century and we need female gamers and females to be better represented in gaming. So my question is could we see female drivers in gt6? I don't see it being all that hard to model. Knowing kaz they might come out Japanese but I don't quite mind that :p.

There are no guys or girls in gt5 they are what you want them to be as they always where there helmets

If they were to incorporate a driver customization feature, yes female drivers should be an option. Otherwise I agree with nascarfn. Only other thing they could do is allow you to display a gender symbol, but that could turn out bad with the people who would inevitably discriminate against female drivers online. I wouldn't mind seeing either, IMO. I think it's great when I get competition from a female driver.

Wrong. You can clearly see their faces and they clearly are men. Besides, the body estructure is different.

I'd like to see this too. One thing that stood out to me is that there's like 1 female in all of GT5. At least in photomode. It's really odd.

Now this is a great option to be asked for in the title. Ladies have been in racing for years and why aren't they represented in GT5 or any of the GT titles.

There you go:

It's official GT footage from PD, no photoshop or similar. ;)

Yes Females should be portrayed in GT6. There are so many of them in all forms of motorsports, that to exclude them is wrong. 👎 Some of my best online friends are female & excellent racers. 👍:) An option to choose gender should be provided.

I agree with this, and I also would like to see some females in the audience & grandstands as well. It's a small detail, but having all men watching us as we race is just .... kinda weird, even if they are just NPCs.

👍

Thanks for the positive feedback from everyone!

Fixed.

And I'd always be a female driver if there is a human livery editor *wink wink*

I just can't turn it off, sorry.

I have a valid question: How often do you see a driver's face in a racing game, period? Obviously excluding arcade racing games where they have a plot and stuff.

I know in other games, they display the driver's name as John Doe or Jane Doe instead of J.Doe so then you could tell if the driver is male or female.

But what if PD were to completely remove driver models? That would free up space for them to add better features than a stationary model that spins around and can be used in pictures with your car. That would also end dumb controversies like calling a game or company sexist. The reason why the names are presented as J.Doe is so that you imagine what the driver's gender is. (Also there isn't space on screen for longer names, but you know what I mean.)

EDIT: How are we supposed to know if B-Spec will be in GT6 either? PD has barely released ANY information yet about GT6. If there is one good thing PD can actually do, it is keeping secrets.

That being said, are there not females who watch and enjoy racing in real life? That being said, if gt6 is going to be a simulator shouldn't it simulate female roles in modern day Motorsport?

Yes I know women enjoy motorsports. I'm not that stupid.
And GT5 doesn't say anything about B-Spec drivers being male or female. They are genderless as far as we know.
Yes GT6 should support both genders in modern motorsport. But I think as long as they keep the "J.Doe" name format, that would allow us to question whether they are male or female. It's up to PD if they implement a full-name display.

CIO thanks for the feedback all valid points there mate I can't argue with that. like most things with video games though we will have to wait and see.

I usually don't post often (or ever really), but I don't really get how this is even debatable. It's not like they need to do voices or distinct faces. Just blacken out the visor (a la Stig) and toss in a female body model. The only other differing things would be names anyways. There's no way that could take up THAT much space that we'd lose out on a "more worthwhile" feature.

I would prefer to be a female in A-spec, though I would try to avoid the seasonal events.

While I'm fine with having female drivers depicted in the game, it isn't unusual for a racing game like this to overlook female race drivers because it's still a profession filled almost exclusively by men. That doesn't mean female drivers shouldn't be depicted, but just that overlooking them isn't all that outrageous.

If one were to collect data on just recent history of motorsports (obviously in decades past women in racing would be far more rare), I'm sure you would find them to be but a tiny minority. In F1, the world's top motorsport, there have been female test drivers but only five that ever drove in an actual race weekend, and of those only two ever made it through qualifying and started a race. These five female F1 drivers together account for a combined total of 0.5 championship points. Yes, that's half of one point.

That F1 Race Stars (or whatever the exact name was) tried to accommodate female players. Players had a choice of all current F1 drivers, all of which were male. This meant they had to make up fake female drivers to give girl gamers a girl option. The key point here is "fake".

Anyway, the short of it is that it's fine to start representing female drivers a bit more, but not really all that archaic not to get around to it because as of right now women are grossly under-represented in professional motorsports.

My b spec drivers are slow enough as it is and crash plenty. Not sure how adding females to this equation will help to solve this.

Unnecessary sexism is unnecessary.

Bspec not In the silverstone demo? Will Bspec even be in gt6?

There are three more events to go. E3, Gamescom and Tokyo.

They will reveal something new at each one.

I would also like to have the option of a few female B-Spec drivers.

Females have breasts and wider hips. I'm not sexualising, it's just a fact that most of the time you can tell someones gender by looking at their body shape.

And not as broad of shoulders. In GT5, though you can't see their faces, it is a fair generalization that they are all Males. And if the physical implications are not enough, just look at all the names that get randomized... They're not girl names :sly: I too would like to see female B-Spec drivers. Even if you don't see their faces. It adds a little more depth to the game.
