Ferrari California (To put hard top or not?)

What is your opinion.. The hard top changed my ENTIRE perception of the car.. (Put a wing to have the hard top)

Well, for me the car looks horrible never mind if it has a wing or not.
I actually think it looks best with all the available parts in the game, because then it looks at least like a racecar.

I let Bob drive the California in some of the earlier races. I drove it a few times and it was OK, but I prefer my 458 Italia.

Do convertibles even make good racecars? I would think having all that machinery weight in the back plus the vinyl roof and whatever aerodynamic nightmare putting it down creates...

Sure if you're driving a sports car on the highway or something (even then it's quite dangerous in a wreck), but on a track? I don't think I'd ever prefer a convertible.

This is different from for instance an LMP open cockpit racer, because they're built for aerodynamics and weight distribution. Yet when Audi had to conform to new engine regulations why do you think the R18 is closed cockpit? Better aero.

I guess they should give you the option. But I personally wouldn't drive a convertible on a racetrack.

EDIT: I also realize this is a game and chances are hardtop/vinyl doesn't make a damn bit of difference in weight distribution or aero (except the wing of course). So I guess it boils down to the better view lol.

One of the Mercedes S series was able to do that, not sure which model, though. If I recall correctly, you could only choose the roof position on practice and time trial modes.

You guys should also tell Le Mans drivers that wings look bad on Euro cars, such as Jaime Melo who had to borrow a wing for his 458 Italia because he broke his in qualifying, then finished 3rd in class after coming from the back of the field @ Long Beach.
