We've all seen that page, but it doesn't tell us would it also be available to PS3. so dude! Where's my Ferrari? Official statement is that DCL is coming to x360 only in February 16.

A couple of NFS reps were on the NFS forum, and they stated categorically that the Ferrari pack would NOT be available to PC/PS3. But they did say there is new DLC coming in March for Xbox/PS3. I suppose thats something. But still very annoying they are seperating the different NFS formats with different content.

According to an article from today by Gamespot the Ferrari DLC will be available for both Xbox-360 and PS3, so hopefully I'll be driving some Ferrari's on Shift while I wait for GT5. I would be really pissed if tomorrow I check the PS Store and I don't see this DLC - I hate M$. :yuck:

Here's the link to the article: http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/driving/needforspeedshift/news.html?sid=6250265&tag=topslot;thumb;1

Jeez. Talk about a story that changes everytime you hear it. Well, that would be great if it comes out for the PS3, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

The F50 GT is fast, and always wants to go sideways; with 750hp I'm sure you could imagine why. :D

The 599 on the other hand, just sounds...wrong.

EDIT: Oh, and the DLC simply is NOT coming to any other console but the 360.

I'm just really happy that we are getting official versions and not something hacked together out of existing rFactor/GTR2 mods :)

The preview shots of these from Ferrari Project looked tasty. Let's see if I can find them again...

Also if we're talking "things shown in ferrari project that probably won't make it to Shift" then this is probably the best one for inducing crying jags :(

Notice the fuel gauge :(
You forgot some! ;)

And what those present?? because I'm little retarded (mmmha Timmah). It's definitely not from Shift

It's what got turned into Shift - they were working on a game called Ferrari Racing Legends ('ferrari project') which through some financial gymnastics got ressurected as Shift. Basically this was the game Blimey! were working on from around when GTR2 finished up in late 2006 until their publisher (10tacle studios) kicked the bucket in mid 2008. Without 10Tacle, no car licenses, no money.

Blimey! basically dissolved, reinvented itself as Slightly Mad Studios, brought all the old assets and the same people over under a new company, signed with EA, who couldn't get Ferrari to happen in time for Shift, but could get a tonne of other car licenses. Shift is basically Ferrari Racing Legends minus Ferrari plus a whole bunch of input from DICE and Black Box and Need for Speed branding stuck on it.

I'm a little confused about this being 360 only. I didn't see anything in that video.

If you were to tie up Ferrari DLC, surely this would be announced near release to make everyone buy the 360 version.

No, but i went to http://needforspeed.com to lap records and FXX times are flying in. I just saw the one that interest me the most, the one from Nordschleife and it's stunning.

I'm advising patients, there is nothing else that PS3 users can do except waiting

I seriously doubt there's anything to wait for. We're getting a half-assed car pack next month that will probably include the ZR1 or something else that should have been in from the get-go.

I'm willing to bet Criterion Games makes a better NFS game than EA as itself can.

It looks like they took the news from shacknews (and who knows where they got it from). The EA press release, the NFS blog, the Shift forum moderators all say it's 360 only and the community team made two seperate podcasts about it being a 360 exclusive, with the second one being composed of roughly 50% apologies for not bringing it onto PC or PS3.

Just reading the NFS forum

Dear Doug,

Electronic Arts developed a DLC for Need For Speed Shift including 10 cars from Ferrari, thanks to a sub-license with Microsoft, holder of the exclusive Ferrari content on Xbox360 and Xbox Live. Electronic Arts does not have a license with Ferrari and can therefore not develop Ferrari 3D cars for PC, Sony PS3, Nintendo Wii or DS, or other platforms, mobile platforms included.

Regards,
Ferrari.com Staff

So looks like the EA/Microsoft strike again. EA allow Microsoft to have Porsche and now Microsoft allow EA to use Ferrari. So I guess the poor promotion is explained.

Still if system 3 can get a Ferrari license then EA can for PS3/PC. I suppose it wouldn't be cost effective for this particular DLC but surely EA would be interested in buying a PS3/PC Ferrari license for future games. It can't cost that much if system 3 can get one? They used to have one.

Polyphony could sub the License but we have the whole EA and no Porsche in GT games BS.

Great, more cars for x360 on the way, it looks like now EA knows about Sony problems with GT 5 and they want to squeeze every thing from crappy shift. Since x360 does not have such problems with slowdowns like ps3 they decided to do one reasonable thing, show middle finger to ps3 users.

so this game is pretty much a ported version of the xbot-hedixdme? That's lame, i was wonderring why the load times were so slow and audio was off- all the more reason to get gt5 when it's out, an actual blu-ray game

One thing we've found trying to bring the Ferrari DLC to PC, there are a few platform optimisations that make it non-trivial to get things across. All the texture data is 360 swizzled/xtx compressed and the game data format has been rewritten to be big endian (as suits the 360 cpu), and that's a big enough deal that noone has really gotten past that point to see if anything else is different too.

Since there will be a different set of cars avaible for pc i think that what you or group of people are doing to bring prancing horses to ps is just amassing. If only PC ver of Shift wasn't so much ****ed upright now by cheats i would play it.
