I know this has been done before, but that also included Porsche, and I think that many people's minds have changed in these two years.
Feel free to lock this thread if you think it's unnessecary.
Lamborghini gets my vote, because even though I liked Ferraris better for years, and Ferraris have more feel, better lines, and more heritage, Lamborghini has become really great lately.
Before VW AG took it over, Lamborghini's only great cars were the Miura, and to some people the Countach and Diablo, while Ferrari had the F40 and F50, Dino, TestaRossa, F355, and many other great cars.
But lately, Ferraris have gotten less exclusive and uglier. I mean, look at the F430! LOOK AT IT!!!:yuck:
I dont like the Enzo too much either.
But Lamborghini has come up with sharp, striking design, better performance and value, and more exclusivity. Compare the F430 to the Gallardo. Notice how the Gallardo looks menacing and mean while the F430 looks lopsided and heavy. The Gallardo is smaller and lighter. The F430 looks like a 7 series next to it. And with its mismatched sharknose grill and random lines on its body, it aint exactly pretty. True, Ferrari has put out the Enzo, and the FXX. But I personally think the Enzo is pretty ugly, and it was just blown off by the Veyron. It was fastest supercar ever for about 1 month, then bye. And IMO the FXX looks like some ricer piece of @#$@.
Not really, but, well, I dont like it.
But hey, its your call.
Feel free to voice your own opinion.
Feel free to contradict me and my post.
Feel free to tell me something I dont know.
Vote.
Now.
Ferrari? With decades of racing heritage and great cars on its side?
Or Lamborghini? With much less racing heritage and only a few great cars?
Its your call.
Make it.

Here we go again..

lamborghini. Why?

Short version: Feruccio made Tractors. Beat that Signior Ferrari.

Long: Lamorghini was an upstart in an age where Ferrai was already established, and even though Ferrari too was an upstart, enzo has lots of experience with Alfa Romeo before WWII. Feruccio started with Tractors. Lamborghini broke the mold several times, introducing wild and exotic cars with excessive power to back them up. Feruccio was on the cutting edge, whereas Ferrari absolutely hated disc brakes. (but was convinced after an I told-you-so moment from an engineer) Lamborghini had stunning show cars like the Marzal, which later became the Espada, the fastest 4 seater of its day. Lamborghini had Bertone design the Miura, arguably the most beautiful automobile mankind will ever produce. The Miura also had its V-12 mounted Transvesely, something rather commonplace today, but regarded as crazy back in the mid sixties.

Can I just answer "Yes"?
I don't give a rip about their history.
(Signor Ferrari and I were both born in the same month, BTW.)

But it wouldn't bother me one little bit to have a Muira and 512 BB.

Yes, you can.
I didnt put 'neither' because people would do Koenigsegg or Porsche, or both, because I want this to be a showdown between Lambo and Ferarri.

You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.
I'll send you the delivery address later.

Seriously. I have loved the Muira since the first time I laid eyes on one.
It is a truly beautiful car. It is also so damn fast. The Countach may be every bit as fast, if not faster. But it looks like it came to start trouble.
Sort of like Brando in "Streetcar".
The Muira is Sidney Poiter in a black suit like "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" Not entirely "acceptable" company in some people's eyes. (in the context of the movie) But you can't deny the elegance and class of the car.

Ferrari has made some of the most gorgeous cars in history. The 250 GTO, looking like a young Sopia Loren, smilling and daring you to see if you are man enough for her.
The 308 looking like a classy rebel.
The 512BB with the looks of a young CEO, after the meetings, on his way to pick up the wife for a romantic drive along California's scenic HWY 1.

Can you tell the cars stir a lot of emotion in me?

No, I cant.
The Countach looks like the devil from hell, the Diablo looks like... the devil from hell, and the Miura looks like a very hot girl with long eyelashes.

Lamborghini, plain and simple.

I've yet to drive a Ferrari that is as exciting as a Lamborghini Diablo. You can't beat that.

Ferrari is the symbol of supercars? Have you seen the Diablo?

The Diablo VT was like THE Supercar of the 90's to most people.

Yes, I suppose the Diablo (Devil) does indeed look like its namesake.
The Countach also looks a lot like what the devil would drive.
The Muira...What more can be said about it? It is just a lovely car.

Thank the Lord, that Ferrari and Lamborghini, pretty much stayed away from ugly designs. Unlike Maserati, who tried to make some very un-lovely cars beautiful. They succeeded a handful of times. However, while there aren't that many Masers in the world, a lot of them are truly unpretty.

I voted for Ferrari simply because they have a history of producing amazing looking sports cars while maintaining performance with practicality. I've never heard any complaints from people about reversing or having to baby a clutch in a Ferrari. 👍

"Can I answer yes?" Nice.

I believe you're the scholar by the looks of things. :p

Despite the fact that I am a die-hard VAG guy, I have really been dissapointed with the new Lamborghinis of the past few years. Their cars were once the hard-edged crazy sportscars kids only dreamed of, but now, they have been Audi-ized, and what was once an "eleven" on the scale of kick-ass, is now only a "nine."

That said, Lamborghini seems to be out to change it with models like the Gallarado SE and LP460, but they arent Ferraris by any means. Ferrari has always done a good job of building what most hard-core car fans like. Lightweight, high-performance cars that make fans drool around the world. There is just something about the way that Ferrari makes their cars. I think it is the combination of looks, sound, performance, and of course, Ferrari Red.

They are both good car companies, and they both appeal to very different kinds of people. Die-hard fans on either side would never want to associate with folks from the other, as the cars have always been pretty different.

I suppose that makes me a Ferrari guy, but that doesnt mean that I would never buy a Lamborghini either. But as of now, Ferrari has me hooked, especially with models like the F430 and 599 Fiorano...

so, at first it looked like no contest for Lambo, but Ferarri has made a strong comeback and they are now tied at 5 votes apeice. Who will win?

Didn't we have a thread like this recently? Anyway, I'm going with Lamborghini for their looks. The selection almost depends on the mood I'm in.

Edit: Sweet! a tie-breaker!

I think the F430 is one of the best looking Ferraris ever, however I still vote Lamborghini.

Ferrari. Becuase they don't have to go over-the-top to produce a great car. Sure Lamborghini has been watered down a bit, in the fact that their actually work, and have some vague remote sense of practicality (as far a supercars are concerned). But Ferrari in almost every circumstance still comes on top.

Although lately, especially with the F430, the styling has gotten to be a bit lazy.

I tied it up 7-7! Honestly if anyone wants to give me any car made by either manufacture I will take it. Even a POS 348. :)

However, I voted for Ferrari. Call me a fanboy but nothing gets me excited like hearing a Ferrari or talking about them even. Where I come from Ferraris are extremely rare so I remember clearly everytime I have ever seen one. To get away from being a fanboy though I think Ferrari is the best (if there is such a thing) because Lambo can not touch the heritage Ferrari has. It can't touch the Gran Prix wins or any of that. While almost anyone who looks at a Lambo will say wow, everyone in the civilized world know a Ferrari. I can think of three great Lambos Muira, the Countach, and the Diablo. Ferrari has build about a dozen. 250GT, 250 GTO, Daytona, 512BB, 308 GTB-S, 512 TR, F40, F50, 360 Modena, 430, Enzo and FXX. Ferrari is automotive racing history, and have always been leaders in technology whether it be the aerodynamics, the 512BBs boxer 12 cylinder engine, or the extensive use of carbon fiber, ceramic brakes, and paddle shifters in the modern cars.

I have always thought Lamborghini to be playing catch up to Ferrari. Granted in the early-mid 90s it seemed lamborghini had gotten ahead but after the 360 perfected what the 355 started Lamborghini lagged behind once again.

Ferrari, right now. Lamborghinis are sexy beasts, undeniably (unless you, y'know, deny it ), but ultimately these are cars and therefore meant to be DRIVEN. And right now, Ferrari is ahead in the category that matters...performance.

Ferrari, because Lambos now are heavy, and they are just Audi interiors and have AWD. Ferrari is RWD, focused, lightweight, meanlooking, etc, but the problem with them is the use of F1 trannies, etc, and not more conventional manuals.
Aah, forget it. I'll take a Koenissegg CCX instead. 👍

I'm for Ferrari. Even though I'm not liking their recent products (read 612 Scaglietti, 599 GTB, F430, Enzo) because of its strange design along with other factors such as "cheap" price and the not-that-good performance by Enzo; a Saleen S7 TT beats it and it costs less. I voted Ferrari because of their older products, like the Testarossa, 355 Spyder, and F360.

Lamborghini, by a hair over Ferrari. Why?
Well, I respect the Ferrari heritage, and I love many of their older cars to bits (250 California Spyder, and 365 Daytona, among others), and some of their more modern cars like the F40 and 550. However, their downfall for me is their newer cars. I do not like the design of the F430 or 360, Enzo, 612, or F50.
This is where Lamborghini comes in. They are the only company I can think of that has always made attractive (in my eyes) cars. The Muira is, by far, my favorite car to ever have the Lamborghini badge on it, and the Murcielago cannot be denied of it's design and performance. I cannot say I like the Gallardo quite as much, but that still does not change that Lamborghini is my favorite of the two. Plus, they were the underdog for many years.

I've never driven any of either of them.

I've always wanted a Lamborghini. There's something about them that makes them more desirable to me. It's difficult to put my finger on why. Some Ferraris have been beautiful, and even intensely desirable, but I've never really wanted one. I've never seen one and been speechless - like I was when I first saw Murcielago. The Gallardo looks like it's doing 100mph when it's standing still, and manages to make the Aston V8 Vantage look bloated and out of proportion.

Ferraris to me just seem to lack that last ounce of desirability. and they're getting too clinical now, they're forgetting about the passion. It's like the 599 is a new Skyline GTR with it's adaptive-this and programmatic-that, and its LCD display in the dash. Lamborghinis to me (even in spite of the Audi infuence) are still about the passion and the driving. It's jsut that now they're making them properly!

My father had two Miuras before I was born.

Yes, Ferrari for their older products (Lamborghini as well but they were too big IMO :indiff: ), and Lamborghini for their newer ones.

;)

Hmmmm, a tough one. Let me think.

The biggest problem I have with Lamborghini is I think they've tried to hard with their styling. The Gallardo and Murcie aside, the fore-runners to this were just too outlandish. (Countach and Diablo)

For those that know what they are, they are drool worthy and exotic looking, but get over that and they're hardly stylish cars. They're not the sort of car that looks good parked in a restaurant carpark. Yes, they're still just as attention grabbing, but a man in a tuxedo loses all credibility if he hops (climbs/clambers) out of a countach with those doors. The Ferraris on the other hand hold enough style to be parked in the carpark, and the women (and gentleman for that matter) can get out with dignity intact, and it looks fine parked in the carpark or on the side of the road.

As for the latest styling, the Murcie and Gallardo look good in my opinion. However, the Audi influence is glaringly obvious in the interior of the Gallardo, and that's disappointing.

At first sight I liked both the Gallardo and the Murcielago, but the same cannont be said for the 360 and the 430. However, over time I've come to love both of those designs too. The 550 will remain my favourite for some time to come though - it in itself is a very good car. Plenty of power and certainly fast enough for anyone, yet more than dignified enough to drive to the football ground (just like Becks does) or take out at night to the dinner party.

From all accounts, the Ferrari's new F430 has it all over the Gallarado, and the coming 599 has the potential to take it to the Murcielago.

I take the Ferraris because they're better all-round cars - the Lambos are just too 'in-your-face' for my liking. Plus, the Ferrari has motorsport heritge and history that Lamborghini lacks.

A Lambo is a boy's toy. A Ferrari is a gentleman's car.

I am certainly in no place to question your opinion but can you explain to me "cheap" price and also the poor performance of the Enzo? I don't think anyone would ever associate Ferrari with cheap and the Enzo is a technology packed wonder. It does perform too. Wasn't it the fastest production car ever when it first was introduced?
