FF Drift

yeah, i dont think anyone holds the e-brake through the whole turn, although it does wonders for initiating the FF drift

handbrake is ok if it is done tastefully, not just holding it constantly. try out the trial celica. i got one and the tail comes out a lot with any tires <8- D on low speed hairpins i have spun out with it.

I've found that if you put a very heavy ballast in the front of the car it helps give more traction to the front tires while the back end of the car is whipped around. A lot of times you won't even have to use the e-brake. With N2/N2 tires the e-brake might be needed to initiate the drift, but since you have the added weight to the front of the car it is possible to pull off some drifts with absolutely sick angles. And of course, the effect is even more insane with unbalanced tires as well.

wow that Keisuke guy sounds awesome...anyone have any links to vids of this guy's drifting?, Oo ya and does anyone else drift a Spoon Integra typeR in here?, you know...the one with the carbon hood but mine has a black wing on it for looks ^__^

Drifting in a FF is easy, just go look at the dog pound for a big ugly dog, and put him on some nice clean carpet. He'll show you the essentials of FF drifting.

I hope you're talking about FF drifting in the game.

Uhm, you're wrong. Back in the old days. The professionals use to drift in FF cars all the time.

To save us from re-explaining certain things.. here's some old posts on this thread:

...Although i do have great respect for Keisuke Hatakeyama hes still not using his RW to power him through a slide:scared: therefore technically not drifting.

apexd1fd3s
....Hatakeyama may not be drifting, but he's still able to hang with any other drift car. I've seen his demo first hand. If all you're trying to say is that his driving isn't called "drifting", I can accept that. If you say FF isn't capable of doing what the other cars can in the drift scene, I would disagree.

Homer_SS
No I do think when done properly all car layouts (including if not especially AWD cars) can hang with RWD cars. I just dont think this particular Powersliding (holding the Ebrake throughout the turn) is considered Drifting.👍

TO7N we're looking at all the technical aspects of "FF Drifting" It may look like drifting, but there's more depth than you think.

Just go sideways and counter steer and you're drifting =).

Or you could just be going through a corner to fast and need to counter steer while going sideways... :sly:

I know how to drift a FF car. Tow a FF car behind a RWD car on a nice huge nascar loop doing about 150. The inertia will swing the FF car sideways and there ya go.

Stop this right now. You know who I'm talking to.(more then one)

Drifting can be done in a FF car, all you have to do is have a series of careful jabs at the brakes as you enter a corner under power, the wieght will shift forward and the car will point in the corner direction and from there it is almost like drifting any other car.

This technique was created by FF rally drivers who drove small displacement cars.

driftin' an FF feels sort of like driftin' AWD...sort of...cant really power over though, just gotta swing your ass into it a bit more^__^, drifting is drifting, so stop ragging on FF cars damnit >_<*, i drift my dad's Honda Accord all the time when i don't see any other cars around^___^

Back on topic:

It is possible to drift in GT4 without using the handbrake. In real life maybe the handbreak might be useful to get the rear end out. Even if FF drift is not possible in real life, I still think that if they can hang with cars that are FR that is interesting enough.

dude.. the first time ain't funny, the 2nd time is just upsetting.

Wow I'm amazed how lots of people admire FF drifting, I thought i was the only one who drifts an FF :) anyway I found that the smaller the chassis of the car the easier it is to drift, is it true?

Typically a car with a shorter wheel base is prone to be more unstable as the angle increases. But the smaller the car, the lighter the car, the faster the weight shift, the easier initiation...

I'm sure you've been watching some Initial D!!!

you cant friggen drift with a front wheel drive car

But you can whip the ass out with the e-brake and then it can 'drift' :)

Seems like once in a while someone stops by and drops a post like this in this thread. We call it "drift" because we can tune it to go sideways, the car is able to hang, we apply simular techniques, we're countering, and leave a long trail of smoke. Call it what you want, it's still the same idea.

Well Put. Just for the hell of it tonight, I beefed up New Model EuroR and smoked the hell out of those poor back tires. Good thing its a game, I think I would have melted the rear pads!(I know it's not possiblle) :sly:

Do they mention that? It's more common sense than anything. And I know from experience...

Pure Organic Cork pads will deform under high heat, but if anyone used pure organic pads, I'd call em a retard. :dopey: I don't even think they make em anymore.

God I hope not  . You could make a dartboard tho :dopey:
