FF tuning help

Ok so I'll start off by saying im not a noob to drag racing I'm respectably quick... at least with FR 4WD and RR cars but FF... i have trouble with. I bought a 97 ek premium not broken in yet. I figured i would just go with trial and error method but I've hit a wall. I played with ballast for a while(70 kg) spent forever on my suspension which i dont know what to do with and my transmission has a solid hour in it. I got down to a 12.276 which about a HALF A SECOND slower than the record I would be extremely grateful if you could throw me some tips or anything to guide me onto the right path. I'm not asking for a tune I'm just asking for help?

I'll give you a mean base tune for the EK.. This will run FAST

Trans: reset default
Lower final to 3.615
Lower top speed fully left
Lower final fully left

1st gear left
2nd gear 45-55%
3rd gear 75-80%
4th 95%
5th and 6th fully right

Top in corner should be roughly 128-132 (can't remember exactly)

Ballast: you need at least 110kg on position -50 (full forward)

Suspension:
Heights: f min/r max
Springs f min/r max
Dampers (e) f 10/r 1
Dampers (c) f 1/r 10
Antiroll f 4/r 4

Camber f 0.0/r 3.5
Toe f 0.10/r -1.00

LSD leave default settings

If RM take off all rear aero and leave front default

Good luck man :)

Launch and let 1st kiss the redline, and shift as soon as it does into second.

Shift just after red and she'll be sweet :)

I know you just wanted tips but the best advice I can give is a tune so you can see how it is tuned.
 
that's a pretty decent tune, should use it if i were you, then build off of it and experiment other ways to tune.
 
Even though I was looking for tips I was scared I wouldn't know why you did what you did. But i get it now no worries and i see where alot of my problems where well thanks a million viper. I'm gonna try and tune all my ff cars now. 👍

I squeezed a 12.088 is this about right?

Try doing this.
Reset tranny
Final to 2.750
Top speed all the way to the left
5th and 6th all the way to the right
Final to 2.000
1st gear- all the way to the left
2nd- leave as is
3rd- kinda like 3/4 of slider
4th- all the way to the right.

As for your suspension, try to figure that out. :)

If you get the suspension right, you should hit 11.7's 👍

Make your ballast like 125 on -50.

Or 3.750 if the left of the final says 3.000. I don't remember now.

But you should be fine with this base tune 👍

Lol MY base tune is close to what gets me into the low 11.75s.. Very close

OP is it ran in? Do that and you'll be into the 11.9s easy. And get the right ideal rpm launch and you'll be closer to 11.8s

Nice! I have my EK at 11.749, but I feel like there's more to it. I'll let you know what I get after I fix some things :). The 11.749 time isn't from that tune, but it's pretty close :)

No worries, kinda why I gave a tune. Better hands on experience since ff tuning can be difficult to grasp.

According to your original post you need to break in the hatch bro, put 200+ miles in it and change the oil and that will put your hp at 400 and then you will get into the glorious 11's. :)
 
Thanks for the help Swara and Viper. My previous best was a 11.833. I used a combination of both of your tunes and managed a 11.779 full throttle launch. Do you both use full throttle? I couldn't get the timed launch to work at all.
 
I think its cool to help people out with the honda tunes, but there are just some people online who I dont share this base tune with because they run their mouths a lot. I know they'll benefit from it but all the name calling and pink slipping challenges get crazy.

Too much ballast maybe. As 1 is starting to disappear is sorta when I press go on my Hondas. Never tried full throttle but that's a very respectable time
