In one sitting unfortunately, like all championships in GT5, this one however takes quite a bit longer........(and that's an understatement).
Still haven't finished it, tried a few times and screwed up each time after winning a few, will try again if I find the time (and a calm focussed mental state.....).

I am holding out as well. I want to make sure the wife and kid are gone for a day before I attempt again.

The FGT championships has been the most fun part of GT5 for me so far.. Followed by the rally special events and AMG academy also in special events.

I'll +1 the AMG events... they were structured VERY well and with the track cut in 4ths you can't get a better lesson for learning the track...

Personally the Lupo event was my favorite lol...

Doing the FGT right now, and enjoying it for the most part. I found Fuji the hardest (since I dumped the Monaco race right at the start, as planned). Nurburg was easiest since the AI spun EVERY lap at the chicane. Won that one by over a minute. Indy was also easy since the AI was bouncing off the rev limiter on the straight. Monza was a closer race but still no problem. Looking forward to Suzuka.

This championship was pretty difficult. But definitely fun. Gotta stay focused maaan. And yes the pinkies take a beating.

I wish there was more series like this, although the whole of gt5 is wayyyy too easy, more restrictions and harder AI and i would never turn it off.

good luck at suzuka the wet races are awesome!!!! if only the ai didnt pit and give everyone a 40 sec lead.

Finally completed this yesterday after numerous attempts. Sadly, the only way I could manage was with lots of driving aides...the only events I've had to use them. Still grueling and frustrating, but the best sense of accomplishment upon winning in the game, by far.
Learning "Monaco" was probably the best. Most demanding track in the game, imo.

Speaking of Monaco and the FGT, does anyone know how to prevent the tail coming out on the hairpin and the turn directly following the hairpin? No matter what I do i cannot get it to not come out from under me, even when I give it no throttle at all, car just bugs out at low speed. Costs me a lot of time.
Just curious if you figured out a setup that eliminates this. I'm trying to do the race on Racing Medium tires and all the slow turns are causing me consistency problems. No tire squeel then bam, the back end kicks out. I'm trying lower LSD settings but I don't want to mess up the high speed feel of the car.

BTW, this series is by far the most intense I have encountered in the game. It takes practice and concentration on each course. I'm forcing myself to gold each race by itself on racing medium tires before I attempt the championship. I kind of wish the A.I. drivers didn't slow down when you approach them. Sometimes I want to draft and slingshot past but if you are directly behind they won't accelerate out of a turn.

Just curious, has anyone had success beating the A.I. on racing hard tires?

I read a few posts, in the tuning section, on how Hard racing tires will promote better grip in the last few laps of each race, due to the fact that heated tires grip less (on Softs). This is true in my belief, however, I found that in this GT5 game, this didn't apply for me.

note, you mentioned you don't want to "lower" LSD settings? I had to "increase" , mainly my decel settings, to around 35-45, in order to maintain confidence in off-throttle for this car. (for entering the turns using engine compression only, then immediately holding 25-50% throttle throught mid turn, and squeezing out on exit, in higher gear MT)

Also, because I'm no expert tuner, and relied on someone elses tune, I decided to use SRF as my only aid in the game. mind you, the car will still spin out if not careful. I will retry the event now that I have golded it, without SRF.

Its my understanding that hard/medium/soft is just a grip selector. I generally try to run the same tire as the A.I. and they are on hards. However, since you don't have a HP advantage over the A.I. in this car, you basically have to run a perfect race to win on hards...unless there are tuning advantages that can put you out in front. I chose mediums because it allows me to catch up in a few places on the track without giving me a huge advantage.

I'll try some higher LSD settings to see if that works, but I notice it is the outside tire going red first, which typically means the LSD is set to high and the inside tire is forcing the outside tire to spin faster. I think the last setup I tried was 15/35/25 or something along those lines.

I've been using an automatic transmission. Not sure I'm up for all the shifting that is required. I don't have trouble with exiting the turns...its just this mid-corner issue. You feel like you've got the right speed for the corner and all of a sudden you are staring at the inside wall and the A.I. clips you as you try to recover.

BTW, if anyone is having trouble finding the line on Fuji, this video is very helpful. You should be able to follow Hamilton's line with RS tires without trouble. With RH tires you'll have to brake significantly more for turn 3 and Turn 5 has to be taken much slower. As I mentioned above, I'm trying to challenge myself with RM tires.

The computer players ALWAYS crash there...I've seen 3+ cars off at the same time there. I was once in the same position, behind by 3 or 4 places about for laps out from the end. On lap 19, I was in second place about 200 feet back from the p1 car, and he spun out there, giving me the win. I wouldn't have won if he hadn't spun out :ouch:

Yeah, its just yet another major oversight on PD's part. I'm willing to bet it is a regression error that was caused by their updates to the A.I. behavior. If it isn't a regression, then shame on PD for never actually running this event during their QA phase (assuming of course they had a QA phase).

The A.I. drivers really bug me in this series. Let me state the reasons...

1) A.I. crashes every lap at Nurburgring. There is no challenge in the race except to stay on the track and not hit them when they re-enter the track.

2) A.I. has the wrong gearing for Monza. They hit the rev limiter on just about every straight.

3) A.I. changes their behavior when you approach them...

3.a) If you follow too close entering a turn, they brake early, WAY EARLY, causing you to crash into them. They seem to feel threatened by cars behind them when they should really only worry about you when you are actually passing.

3.b) If you follow too close exiting a turn, they never hit the gas until well after the apex, causing you to crash into them and lift off. Meanwhile they brake when you hit them, blocking you, then shoot down the straight while you try to figure out what just happened.

4) A.I. drivers appear to have better brakes. I just can't seem to ghost them without ramming.

So basically, you cannot follow A.I. drivers. If you get within a certain distance you might as well just pass because you never know when they are going to brake or accelerate. They will run such a slow pace when you are behind them that you'll never catch the next car in the pack if you don't just plow through. I have never had this problem in any other racing game. I was happier with GT4 when they just ran the same line and you had to drive around them. At least you knew what they were going to do. With GT5 its like driving behind someone on the highway who is brake checking you every 10 seconds.

But with that said, if you eventually do get to the front at Cote d'Azur, 20 clean laps with the A.I. in your rearview the entire time...is extremely intense!

My favorite championship so far and the only one iv had to use assists on,Suzuka is next to impossible but it helps ALOT if you get an engine refresh.
