I start off every Formula GT race having to fight my way up from 12th place because I'm getting SMOKED on the starts. I just can't seem to figure it out. And as we all know, driving on a track with GT AI is like trying to drive through a bunch of drunk 6 year olds in bumper cars. Having decent laps has been more about trying to survive passing the bumper car AI without letting them drill me and spin me out of nowhere. A clean start could hopefully solve that. Anyone figure out any tricks? For the record, I'm using a wheel, and my tuning setup is pretty close to the one at the top of this thread

I'm assuming you are doing the championship. Just an heads up, your position only matters in the last 3 laps. You could be dead last on lap 16 and still win the race. . Don't worry about your starts, just put up consistent lap times and the boosting will get you ahead in time.

Yep, championship. And yeah I've noticed, and if you do get the lead early, the rubberbanding on the computer is INSANE. What a stupid idea for a "simulation" game. Anyway, my problem is when I start from the back of the pack, I spend 15 laps getting battering rammed by the computer, so come lap 16, I'm still facing the gauntlet of battering rams to try and make it to the front. Even when I'm gaining a lot of time, someone will plow me entering a turn and send me spinning to 12th place again. I'd rather just be contending with the 2 or 3 idiots at the front of the pack

Without TC it's practically impossible to get the FGT off the line quickly. Maybe set it to TC 1 or 2 then back it down after the start?

Probably goes without saying, but dont hammer the throttle, usually when I started I'd gradually push it down so it took ~2 seconds to get to full.

I found it best to stay in 2nd the first 18 laps. You can drive at a relaxed pace and not have to worry about losing.
