So ralf got away with a $50000 fine instead of losing 10 places at hungary. The FIA must have the smallest cahoonas in the sporting world !!. The only time they stuck with a decsion was when schumie drove into villneuve nad got excluded from the championship. They really are a bunch 'o wusses

There was no way the FIA were going to penalise Ralf. Think about it he is a major championship contender there not going to blow the chances of a possible 'thrilling down to the wire' (TV ratings winning) battle now are they?

And now they are investigating Barichello and Raikkonen, for some reason.

Oh Brother! They should investigate wilson - for continuously looking like a baggage handler who slept in his ford cortina overnight

Bad example - he didn't lose his points or wins, so it was pretty meaningless. A better example would be Irvine getting his one race ban extended to three races after trigging a four car monumental at Brazil in 1994.

Interest in the championship aside, I think this is a reasonably fair result - having viewed the accident a couple of times I think it was probably pretty close to a racing accident. If Raikkonen hadn't been down the outside of Barrichello, Reubens would have had been able to jink left to give Ralf room. Ralf really only made one deviation from his line, and it wasn't a big move.

I agree with you there, vat_man. A $50,000 fine is better than killing Ralf's chances for the championship. I wonder though, if Ralf would be able to make up the ten spots to finish in the points even if they hadn't decided to go this route. It would make for an interesting race.
