I voted for Todt because, honestly, i really don't think Vattenen's in it to really help the world of motorsport: He's in it to save his political career. The timing of his canidacy for FIA president is just too conspicuous for my tastes: Six months after he lost his Finnish Parliment seat he turns back to motorsport? It almost seems like he's trying to lick his political wounds and gain momentum for a possible run for Finland's Prime Minister in three or so years...
I dunno, i just think that Todt's canidacy seems more genuine to me...
The way I see it, even Vatanen will be dirty in some way, all politicians are. But the idea is that we want a lesser evil, and a change in direction. Todt is seen as a continuation of Mosley, and its clear that direction is quickly becoming stale.
Although Vatanen will probably have some sticking points of his own, it will take quite a lot to make me want Todt in power more.
When he was a member of the EU cabinet, a lot of Vatanen's policies had to do with road safety, an agenda the FIA has been pushing in the world outside Formula One.Comparing Vatenen to Todt, I see that Vatenen went into politics after retiring from racing full-time while Todt stayed active in racing behind the scenes. I see more qualifications since Todt was in motorsports more actively throughout his career.
