I couldnt find any other thread on this topic, so please dont hate on me if there is.

I, like many other GTPers out there, are craving for new premium cars. FIA GT cars seem to be tossed around quite abit, so I have decided to go out and make my own instead of waiting for Kaz to get around to making new cars.

The idea is simple, and execution fairly easy as well, you just need abit of spare credits lying around.

First, purchase any car that is competeing in the FIA GT championships around the world (Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 458, Mercedes-Benz SLS etc.), and purchase it in what would look like their team colours (Ferrari=Red, Lamborghini=Yellow, Mercedes=Silver etc. P.S. a good way to find this out is to actually look at the protoype versions of their GT cars).

Next comes the visual mods (this is where the prototype pics come in real handy). Find wheels that look very similar to the ones used by the actual cars, and if a suitable wheel cannot be found, just use a wheel that looks suitable for racing. The rear wing is just a faily simple flat deck rear wing, and shouldnt be too had to find. Then the bodykit. Agian, looking at the prototype pic, find a body kit that looks similar to the real deal. If the only available ones look like rubbish, its up to you to decide whether or not to use the body kit or not.

Last, performance mods. Racing tyres are a given, your choice on compound. Then what I did was make the car as light as possible using all the lightweaight mods, all intake system, all exhaust, all transmission, all drivetrain and all suspension mods, as well as a sports ecu. For the 4WD cars, you will also need to purchase the Torque splitting cetre diff, and make that as rear bias as possible, as 4WD cars are not allowed in FIA GT regs.

And there you have it, your very own FIA GT car! :)

Please note, I am actually not too flash on their rules for the cars, so if there is stuff I have missed or that I added and shouldnt have, please let me know so I can change it, your help is much appreciated).

Yep, nice idea. I got some "FIA GT-ish" cars too. I'm using 600pp to balance the performance and it works, I wish I can create a custom championship giving the AI the cars I want... I'm really looking forward for a feature like that in GT5... probably it wont happen. :(

I wish they would get the license to this and DTM. But it looks like Shift may already have the FIA GT.

That would be good, plus a few more real tracks as well (Spa and Bathurst top 2). But alas it probably wont happen, maybe not even in gt6 either... maybe :(

But I like your idea of using the 600pp mark to limit their performances, it will work like the real deal 💡

Im not too sure whether they have a full license or just a part license. If its part, that means others can get licenses too :D If they have a full licence, then they hold it for GT1 only, not GT 2 down (as far as I am aware).

I'm pretty sure Shift does not have an exclusive license.

And it only has a couple GT1 cars, one from each manufacturer. What GT5 should do, instead of making seperate updates for cars, is give RM modification to the murcielago, Nissan R35, and ford gt. Like in the fia gt1, and like they did with the premium c6 corvette.

But nice thread, i like the concept, but it's just not the same. Also i didn't know the sls was competing.

Well, if they will ever include something like that, we don't strictly need FIA GT license, what about ALMS? With LMP1, LMP2 prototypes GT1 and GT2 cars, giving the 908 the proper championship to race with. Or International GT Open another great series featuring GT cars.

Anyway I hope at least in a better use of the SuperGT license. We have 16 amazing GT500 cars but the SuperGT events in Career mode are ONLY 3 damn boring races. I don't get it. I want at least a 10 races championship, and a save function after I completed the race. When they created Career mode PD forgot about the more obvious things, I really don't get it.

Another Idea is to increase the number of RM available and create a 10 race championship with AI running RM cars.

Ok, its white, but thats the prototype first version right there. It should be racing in the GT3 championship this year.

I like the RM idea, especially if it gave the factory paint job. But the whole point of making these was to have a bit of fun and make my own while I wait for the real deal... or I could play shift 2. But I would rather have it here :)

Oh i see, gt3. Yeah, i know what you mean, i tried that aswell, mind you, they drive pretty well, but not great, the F430 was pretty close though. Also with shift 2, i got it for the gt1 cars and bathurst, and basically it gave me the s**t's!! The cars are there, but are undrivable.

Yep GT5 must feature more GT cars for sure, or at least more RM, I don't care about all those Skylines. What's the point to call a game "GT" if there isn't enough GT cars? And don't forget to convert the standard all the standard Race Cars.. Let's hope PD will settle somewhere in a safer place after the disaster, because GT5 really need them.

Haha, good point, GT without GT cars.

DLC should offer class packs. Basically give use 8 cars for a specific series. I just cant understand how PD does not see the profit to be had. Oh make them Premium of course.

I would think DLC would generate a substantial amount of resources. As well provide the league racers with an excellent selection of racers.

That, and, on the FIA GT1 website(http://www.gt1world.com/cars/spec/lamborghini-murcielago-r-sv) look at the cars, they have specifications of the cars. I just did up my sv lambo, minimum weight i could achieve was 1268kg, but i subtracted the 18kg to my own weight and added it to the ballast. Then i maxed the engine, went to settings, and restricted the engine, to 600bhp, as the car has in the GT1 championshop. I also did the bodywork, and bbs wheels, in a dark grey metallic. Now all i need is the more technical facts on the car, to do with suspension, then it will be as close as i can get to having a gt1 lambo in gt5.

The only car missing is the Maserati MC12, but you could subsitute it, with the GT S, and bob's your uncle. You got yourself a FIA GT1 car list.

I found it very strange that the DBR9 was not present in the game. Same with the Maserati. Must be an issue with the FIA GT series as apposed to the individual manufacturers.

If only. I'd buy it.

or just wait for Forza 4

Seems I didnt search hard enough for those regs:guilty: oh well.

Its good to see that there a quite a few people giving this idea a run, and using different ways to get the same results. And the idea isnt limited too cars officially competing, you can pretty much take any old car and give it the GT treatment.

If you want guys, oput some pics up of your cars, so we can see how they turn out :)

What baffles me there is an abundance of this kind of "car"

But none of this type

Methinks Polyphony are just a little out of touch.

It's a decent idea, but it doesn't quite work. I'm a big fan of GT type cars, and my Corvette Z06 RM and M3 GTR race car are among my most used cars. But, you can't take a production car and turn it into a GT1 or GT3 racer for one reason: aero. Take my Gallardo as an example. It's light enough and has enough horsepower, but it can only hit 0/20 downforce instead of the Corvette's 40/65. So, we just need more RM's for, say, the M3, SLS, GT, etc. Otherwise we can't quite get there.

I wonder how these would go around Spa.

At 600pp Race cars take advantage of big aero in the fast sweepers but loose something on the straights, tuned cars have to be perfectly balanced and fine tuned to be competitive though. So for quick races I prefer race cars, allowing a more consistent driving. Slightly reduce aero and adapt gearbox to keep up after Eau Rouge Radillon and Blanchimont. If you have a good start and you run away from all the noobs crashing each other there are good chances for podium or P1. From 620/630pp tuned cars with no aero doesn't have many chances.

I tried something similar as what the OP describes and made my own SLS GT3. Only it's not really according to the FIA GT spec as that allows no titanium or carbon fibre parts. With a few exceptions that is, but for example titanium race exhausts or carbon fibre hoods are not allowed.

Diahatsu MidgetII trollolololol!

There's a lot of great racing series out there that have been overlooked, but why get all bent out of shape about it. Don't look a gift "Kaz" in the mouth. I mean we could have nothing at all.
