What baffles me there is an abundance of this kind of "car"

But none of this type

Methinks Polyphony are just a little out of touch.

I guess they prefer their single seaters. :sly:

It's a decent idea, but it doesn't quite work. I'm a big fan of GT type cars, and my Corvette Z06 RM and M3 GTR race car are among my most used cars. But, you can't take a production car and turn it into a GT1 or GT3 racer for one reason: aero. Take my Gallardo as an example. It's light enough and has enough horsepower, but it can only hit 0/20 downforce instead of the Corvette's 40/65. So, we just need more RM's for, say, the M3, SLS, GT, etc. Otherwise we can't quite get there.

This.

I've been converting some of my cars to GT3 spec for a while and this seems to be the biggest difference. You can work around it slightly by making up the extra grip with a softer tyre compound, but then you can have too much grip at low speeds.

I usually use sports soft's and I did a few laps around Spa in my 458 with 500bhp, min weight (1232Kg I think) and my best time was 2.27 which is equal to mid times in the first practice session at this year's 24 hour event http://blancpain-endurance-series.com/results.php?season=2011&event=3&session=Free Practice 1

So I suppose that car will do for now for me, but I'd like GT spec DLC cars, with accurate sounds please :sly:

Out of touch is an understatement. More like "Howard Hughes bats__t crazy"

There's a lot of great racing series out there that have been overlooked, but why get all bent out of shape about it. Don't look a gift "Kaz" in the mouth. I mean we could have nothing at all.

I made this thread ages ago, long before dlc was announced. But I know what you're saying, this was merely a stop gap measure
But now that I give it more thought, there are already quite a few gt spec cars in gt5. There's the M3 gtr, the R8 lms, both RM Corvettes and now the Gtr tc, which looks to be modelled on the gt3 spec gtr. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Haha! It does pays to read the OP 👍 I love both of the RM 'Vettes.

They're all good

I'm sure in one interview a while ago, Kaz mentioned he wanted to put in FIA GT and DTM as "official" classes, like the NASCARs and SuperGT that we already have in GT5, but there wasn't enough time to implement them in / build all the cars etc etc.

If that was the case, I wouldn't be surprised if we see them in GT at some point, whether as DLC or in GT6.

I like the car better then the type.

He mentioned that before or around the release of GT5, but it's almost 1 year from the release of GT5. There's enough time to release a FIA GT class.:nervous:

Well there should be more DLC coming...

Yeah, but like I said, I'm sure we'll see them at some point. We can't second guess what PD and Kaz are thinking, as the last few years proves 👍

I think there would be some more DLC on the horizon (cant see any reason why there wouldnt, except for GT6 development), however the only clue we have so far is the lack of the track with the metre markings from the Spec 2.0 intro.

I suspect they are in the pipeline, or should I say I really, really, really hope they are. As others have said, Kazunori did mention the fact that they would have been included had PD not run out of time to develop them. I wouldn't be surprised if some GT1 cars are already modelled and finished... Then again I wouldn't be surprised if they turned out to have a whole bucket o' Porsches ready to go in the game if/when they managed to get the licensing. As far as I'm aware there's nothing illegal about digitising something you have no right to use, as long as you don't release it...

Damn, now I'm thinking about how much stuff PD have that could be implemented into GT5 if only they had the right paperwork. I bet there's a whole load of it.

^ They should make some mods for rFactor 2 then. :sly:

Something that occasionally plagues my mind :(

The FIA GT cars, according to the official webpage, there are only 5 brands competing:

Aston Martin

With the DB9

6.0 L V12 600 HP
1250kg
700 Nm torque

Chevrolet with:

Corvette Z06
7.0L V8 650 HP
1200 Kg
Unknown torque.

Ford

With the Ford GT

5.3L V8 560 HP
700 Nm
1200 kg.

Lamborghini

With the Murcielago R-SV:

6.5L V12 600 HP
660 Nm torque
1250 Kg.

Finally Nissan with the GT-R

5.5L V8 600 HP
650 Nm torque
1250 Kg

All the cars are featured on GT5 as Road Cars, so we can tune the cars to get them closer to this specifications, the thing is that not with all of them can have a Body Kit to look similar as the cars on the FIA GT championship only the Corvette Z06 RM and maybe taking the Nissan used by Kaz on the Nurgurgring 24H have the body kits, it is a shame that you can't prepare a championship selecting the cars to the IA, but maybe it can be arranged on an online championship.

I also remember that on the FIA GT Maserati and Saleen compete with the MC12 and the SS7, Maserati won a lot of championships with that car until they regulate the championship making the competitors closer.

I think the main reason the latest race cars aren't in GT5 is perhaps they are always kept with the team, or at the factory getting upgraded, or maintained. Especially LMP type racers where a chassis evolves into 3 or more iterations.
