Hi, on the new online special events, i am struggling to win the Fiat 500 event. i have come 2nd and i can lap at roughly 1:20 each lap but by the last lap i always seem to be 8 seconds behind and cannot catch that distance in 1 lap!

I have golded the CR-Z challenge first time but this one, i cannot?!

Where can i make up some speed? What am i doing \rong?

Try to keep the speed in the turn, first u turn should be taken at 70 Km/h, next one should be around 65 and the last u-turn before the straight at 65, all the rest are flat out.
Also I notice that you had to give priority to exit, try to have a nice exit line where you can accelerate wihtout having to turn. Other than that, you should aim for something like high 1.20mn for the first lap then high 1.19 low 1.20 constantly and you should beat it easy.
Can tune up your car too, especially the transmission.

What I did was buy either the lightweight windows or carbon hood Which ever one lowers the weight to exactly 1000kg. Don't do an oil change but get a air filter that gives you very close to 65 hp. I think you can also get the clutch and flywheel upgrade but I didn't needed them. Remember the car doesn't have a lot of hp so take advantage of drafting the other cars. Also try not to get held up by the other cars.

For Gold, I got low 1.21 on the first lap, then 1.20 and some high 1.19s

Aero body kit applied, full transmission, full suspension, sport air filter, window weight reduction

Aero (rear) - 5
Max Speed 87 MPH

Ride Height -20 / -20
Springs 4 / 4
Dampers 4 / 4
Dampers 4 / 4
Anti-Roll Bars 3 / 3
Wheel Alignment default

AT
All aids off except driving line and abs set at 1.
Used DFGT

At the start of the final lap I was under 4 seconds behind the leader.

Lightened windows and Intake upgrade to get stats maxed out.

You need to be fairly smooth, pushing excessively can really slow you down. Dont brake too late and try and carry alot of speed through the turns, youll be surprised how early you can put the power down.

Lap times close to 1:20 flat or better will get you gold.

Thanks guys i did the air filter, the weight mod etc when i was doing it the first time. Then added sports suspension but i am too inconsistent in those tight corners, even with my DFGT i seem to be charging into them and not holding quite enough speed through them .

My laps are usually:

1;22.250
1;20.5xx

With the odd 1;21 throw in when i cant avoid tapping someone or take a corner badly:/

I will have another stint at it tomorrow. Came 2nd in the RX-7 one but i was tangibly close and if i hadnt balooned it on the last lap could have won easily. However, i am much faster/the RX-7 challenge is more forgiving than the Fiat one it seems.

I resorted to smashing the A2 off the track at the last hairpin before the back straight. some will say I was 'cheating', but I was consistantly getting 1.20 dead, I even lost by 0.4 seconds one race, and I couldn't take it anymore, it felt good to smash the audi off the track :sly:

I came 2nd on first attempt. was no where near 1st place.

Will try joovut's setting tomorrow and see if that makes a difference and report back.

Yea ill try the tranny tomorrow (ooh err) and see if a close box can help me get up there. im always 5 secos or more out on the last lap and just cant do it. Ill throw myself into some apex's tomorrow.

Did exactly the same, also if just behind anothe car at the last corner you can pass easily on the outside and still carry plenty of speed.( btw its the windows to get the weight just right )

I've also given up on this one after placing 1.4 seconds behind the leader. Screw him. I got gold on all the other events and they pay out more anyway. Within a few weeks all of these events will be history :)

Came 2nd on the first try. Didn't try again, but I suggest to set the transmission to very close, I'd say 140 Km/h max. Also stiff suspensions and a little positive camber can help in turns. I used 2.0 - 1.0.

It feels soooooo great! I did the same and won by 4 seconds :D
Not that I'm not a good driver, but I didn't feel like spending money on transmission for a Fiat 500....

That's what the AI cars are there for when times get desperate!

I did it barely, with just weight mod and intake. Pulled 1:21 on the first lap, 1:20's on the rest of them and a 1:19 on the final lap. I passed that damn Audi as we came off the last corner and barely beat him to the finish line.

It took me a long while of just repeating that race until I was consistently getting 1:20's. Wasn't just a get in the car and win event for sure. The CR-Z event was easy peasy after that.

Buy the 5 speed close ratio gearbox.

Before I bought it I was coming 2nd with about and 8 second gap and could not win. Then I fitted the close ratio gearbox and I got first on my second attempt by 4 seconds! Do it, it works.

My car, light windows +upgrade the intake manifold gives exactly 65bhp and 1000weight
after that I added sports suspension (the middle one), close ratio gears, clutch, flywheel and the spoiler from gt auto. I got gold 2nd time out averaging 1:20 lap times I could go quicker but I won it so whats the point !!, the most important lap is the first imho get past as many cars as possible whilst using slip stream as often as you can . I took 2nd place at the hairpin before the long straight with 1 lap to go then you have 1 full lap to catch and take 1st on the last lap, hope this helps.

Most significant upgrade would be buying the custom transmission then reducing the top speed to the absolute minimum. Also buying the racing suspension and lowering the ride height.

Keep exit speed up during corners - use as much of the track as possible (including the the rumble strips).

Used Joovut's settings completely (except substituted the wheel for a DS3).

Aside from a desperation dive into the hairpin through the grass, I had a flawless run and I needed that dive through the grass and cutting through the corner. I passed the A2 on that dive and then lost the lead right back. I won by 0.031 seconds because of a great final corner and upped acceleration.

Lol I did the same thing too!!! I just cant catch up with the Audi at first place...

I've also learned you can brake real, real late. I kept surprising myself at how late you could be and still take the turn. It doesn't save you all that much time, but it's worth something. I'd say it's also important not to let the tires scrub off too much speed...

I got 2nd place and was happy so I sold the car afterwords. Im not looking at the seasonal events as something I have t get gold in, jsut extra events to boost my money/exp. I only try for gold in career mode.

I just got gold after about an hour of trying, you just have to be smooth to keep your speed up, try not to get stuck behind other cars. I like the set the rear suspension quite stiff on FF cars and beef up the anti roll bar.
