The BPL Team of the Season squad. That Yaya!

I just won a Div3Online match 12-0, Gomez scored 7...

I'm gradually working my way up to being able to afford Neuer (6k short at the moment, I think). I think I'm going to sell my Russian team, I just don't think I'll use it any more and it's probably worth 15-20k, it might as well be used to fund the German team.

Sometimes I feel I'm slightly lacking in pace in midfield/attack. 4-2-3-1. Midfielders: Javi Martinez (only non-German in the team), Khedira as the CDMs, both with sub-60 pace. Podolski, Ozil and Muller, Muller has decent pace, the other two are average and Gomez.

I've got used to quick passing, which works well as they're all good passers. I need to use Muller's shooting stat more, he's got 90 finishing, which is pretty solid for a RM. Considering a card for Gomez too, as he's basic. Hawk or Hunter for him and then maybe a Catalyst card for Martinez/Khedira.

After Neuer I might get Reus, though I am enjoying Podolski as my LM, good at range shots.

I'm still looking to get either FIFA 14 or the World Cup edition, but I don't know which one would be best. I'm looking for something with that pick-up-and-play quality, but with a learning curve that rewards you as you go. I know the basics of football, but the nuances of tactics are lost on me (though having watched the A-League semi-finals and highlights of the Real vs. Bayern match on the evening news, I can see the difference in quality). I don't really have a team to follow, and the multiple parallel leagues - national competitors, regional champions leagues, World Cup qualifiers, etc. - make it a little hard to follow. At the same time, I want to be able to follow it regularly, not every four years.

In FIFA 14, there is no learning curve online, but offline there is. This years career mode is much more rewarding if you play tactically, having your own custom tactics and formations. Last year you could pop into a 3-5-2 and win everything unchallenged on World Class difficulty. If you want a more tactical game, the main edition would be better.

I can't speak for the World Cup Edition, because I'm not spending $60 on what should be an add on at most, but that seems much more progression based, with less tactical input needed.

I don't have an internet connection, so that's not a problem.

I like the idea of tactical gameplay, but I don't want to get involved in a game that requires you to have knowledge of those tactics in advance.

I imagine that both games are structured along similar lines, with the difference being that one is club competition and the other is national sides.

You can learn the tactics fairly easily. When creating custom tactics, there are, I think, about 9 sliders and 3 or so options that can be changed to suit your style of play. Nothing too difficult, really.

My current team:
Aguero--RVP
Rooney
88 Hazard--Navas
Yaya
TOTS Azpilicueta--Luiz--Kompany--TOTS Coleman
IF Howard

Yes, I hate crosses so much that I have 180k sunk into fullbacks.

I logged out of FIFA during the Bpl tots and when I logged back in I randomly received Coleman, absolutely no clue as to how I got him but I sold him on for 105 k

Coleman was good. Azpi could have been a bit quicker.

I sold that team though, I needed a change.

I now have:

Di Natale--IF Balotelli
IF Tevez
SIF Pogba--TOTS De Rossi
Martinho--Benatia-TOTS Castan--Chiellini--Abate
Buffon

I liked 5 at the back last year, so I figured I'd try it again.

I have 200k left, so I hope to have IF Di Natale, SIF Benatia and SIF Maicon by the end of the week.

Has a FIFA 15 release been confirmed?

Right now, I figure the best course of action is to get the World Cup Edition of '14, and if I like it, pick up '15 when it gets released ... if it comes out on X360.

5 at the back...? Ewww. :dopey:

My current team is:

UP Benteke - UP Sturridge
Suarez CAM
Hazard LM - Arnautovic HM
Yaya CDM
Clichy - Kompany - Kaboul - Zabaleta in the back 4
Cech GK

Bench: Ronaldo, Aguero, Reus, Di Maria, Benzema, Thiago Silva, Jovetic

But i'm probably gonna sell CR7, Aguero and a few others as their high ratings nerfs my team ingame abilities.

FIFA 15 is probably released late september like every year.

Heard a few rumors about new "features", and some stuff is gonna be removed.

Rumors about stuff being removed such as Champions League.

New features(?):
- You can now dive.... Pffft... I never get freekick even if my players get shot, then ran over with a tank!
- More stadiums.... Why not?
- More freekick techniques.... Sounds interesting.
- Original referees.... Can we finally get a ref who is able to judge properly? Hope so.
- More national teams... Cool.

Again, these are only rumors, for now anyway.

EA have confirmed that some elements from the World Cup edition will be carried over; naturally, gameplay tweaks will make their way over, but some version of the "Captain Your Country" mode will make it.

I'm mostly just trying to figure out whether FIFA 14 or the World Cup Edition is better for me. World Cup has the most updated gameplay mechanics, the progression seems a little more linear from the qualifiers to the final, and the content is the most immediately relevant. But FIFA 14 has the content I am most interested in (club football), and seems to have a longer lifespan.

Well, I won Div3 title, 11k coins helped the Schweinstiger purchase, end of next season he should be mine....Div2 will be fun.

Mesut Ozil is odd, I'm finding his shooting is really bad, he scuffs so often...however, he scores 1 in 3 behind Gomez (goal every game) so I'm not complaining too much, just a bit weird.

He was the same last year. His shooting is terrible but he always pops up in positions to score, so a few of those are going to trickle in. And his weak foot is really bad, so try to keep it on his left foot if you need to shoot with him.

I've started playing FUT Online Seasons again. It's not as bad as before. Just promoted to Div 8, and won my first match in Div 8 against a sweaty Ibarbo/Balotelli team with ease. Typing this will probably jinx my future luck, but oh well.

One of the reasons i've got back into Online is probably because i've put Ronaldo out of my team, not even on bench or reserves. They're playing as a team now, at least 8 out of 10 matches.

Closing in on 500 victories now. Currently at 488-14-63. So i'm relatively happy. :dopey:

Overall record or just online? (I can't remember how it is in-game) Impressive nonetheless.

I can't play offline, I'm bored of how predictable the matches are, not in terms of result, just the very set way the AI play. 10 pts from 4 games in Div 2. Can I reach Div1 as I did in 13FUT?

Been trying more things with Ozil, nope, still not great. His shooting is only 5 worse than Gomez..I think he is only Basic. After Schweinstiger I will go around updating those cards.

Overall record, though i've only played about 75-80 matches against AI. Lost about 5 or 6 or something, won the rest against the AI.

The remaining 500 matches i've either played online or against friends, mostly friends for now. :P

My goal is to reach Div 4 before FIFA 15.

Well, I got there by winning Div2 with a game to spare and finishing unbeaten. Bought Schweinstiger (CDM and Powerhouse(I think)) and then bought some more chemistry style cards for the 3 players who didn't have them.

The only other player I'm thinking of buying is Reus to replace Podolski, the stats look miles better, though I do like Podolski's bullet shooting. I may pick up Klose, as I think he'll be better than Kuranyi if Gomez gets injured.

If you like Podolski's bullet shooting, you gonna love Reus' rocket shots, aaaand the pace difference!

My 5 at the back teams were deadly last year, but those chumps were a gigantic waste of time.

I made a non rare team, and it feels like they're all on steroids:

Eder
Draxler
Varela--Aogo--De Bruyne--Vierinha
Eliseu--Moreno--Iñigo Martinez--João Pereira
Casilla

I also sold the 5 at the back and made this:

TOTS Martinez--SMOTM Rodrigo
Quintero
IF Gaitan--Salvio
TOTS Perez
Alex Sandro--Mangala--SIF Garay--Danilo
Helton

I got TOTS Martinez for 100k :D I just kept raising the bid by 10k and the guy got scared and let me win.

Now I have 400k left for whatever fun splurges I so desire.

I have a fledgling interest in soccer but as one who lives in the United States, it's pretty difficult to get access to any soccer on television over here so I figure FIFA is probably the next best option. For someone who wants to just pick up the game and play, but is also interested in possibly playing full length matches and also running/managing a team and also learning about soccer at the same time, which would be the better game to pick up? Fifa 14 or Fifa World Cup Brazil? Also, I have Playstation Plus so I got the latest Pro Evo Soccer this month for free. I haven't played it yet, but how does it compare to Fifa? I know this is a Fifa thread but is PES a good game as well?

FIFA is a better learning tool due to it actually having licensed teams, leagues, players, etc. You would want FIFA 14 if you want that many features.

In real soccer news, heart is broken for Liverpool.

Depends on your team, but i'd take Fabregas any day in FIFA 14 UT.

I went for Isco, he only cost me 2700 coins, he's not bad actually. It's surprising just how much Spanish players have come down in price since I was last on.
