Final drive swaps

I'm surprised no one has suggested this yet.

I would welcome the ability to change the final drive-only in Gran Turismo.
It's a little bit annoying having to change to a noisy dog-transmission in certain cars because they were accidentally modelled incorrectly.

The final drive swap is also a common way of modifying cars with less than ideal gearboxes in real life.

Please give us the option to buy fixed-ratio, or adjustable-ratio final drive parts seperately.

I would like this as well, I can't understand why I have not saw a game yet that lets you swap the differential gear.

Even fixed ratio would be fine so long as there are a few different choices

I get that it's more of a decision made by the developers to not include something like this, and they can't be faulted (at least not excessively) for not, but yeah, this one seems blatantly obvious to me. How many people can go out and buy a gear stack with the ratios of their choosing? Sure, the r&p isn't exactly that flexible either, but at the absolute bare minimum there are various trims of the same car with different ratios available, and beyond that, there are aftermarket companies that offer ratios beyond what the factory did.
While you're at it, how about the ability to "enter" specific ratios; perhaps by way of a four-place ticker--it would take more left/right clicking but I suspect there are people who would appreciate the ability.

Love this suggestion

You've got no idea how much GT money I would've saved had this been an option. And that's just in GT6!
Classic American Muscle cars are crying out for this. At the time of release, these cars were all about the 1/4 mile drag race. If it wasn't on a drag strip, it would be a race to the next red light

Not very good if you want to race on a circuit :banghead:

I really like this idea, and don't quite understand why it's not in the game. Some cars have a low top speed, and I hate having to hear dog gears in the race transmissions. On the cars that have decent sounding exhaust you are stuck with dog gears. When you purchase race transmission it gives you option to change differential gears. My problem with that is again you are forced to listen to dog gears, and generally a tunable differential has zero to do with the transmission. I have never seen a transmission that allows you to adjust differential ratio.

My solution is this, on most cars I end up changing differentials. In the process of changing the diff is when you would change ring and pinion. Let us buy adjustable ring and pinion in the differential section and allow us to install it on vehicles equipped with stock and sports transmission. Please and thank you

Neat suggestion. I don't like using custom gearboxes on some cars they disable the clutch, so this could be very useful and cheaper upgrade.
