Xbox??? Who is this Xbox??
So my dad finally got a Mustang. Its a 2010 GT Premium in dark grey. He bought it used for $32 000 (grand total). I sat inside it during a test drive.. WOW. Even though it was a rental car from Florida, it was kept in AMAZING condition. Looks like it was new.Too bad my dad was quite scared flooring it on the Uber-bumpy road.. I would be scared too The exhaust has an amazing sound but the hood "bump" can be annoying for short people when driving. . But, the seat can go up and down. It has black leather seats, Shaker 500 audio system with Microsoft Sync. The foot wells and every light turns ice blue at night. Even the letters "MUSTANG" on the door step light up. And better yet, I THINK that the speedometer and those gauges can change color (if someone could clear that up for me that could be great. Its called Mycolour). Now for the best part... the Mustang is at the dealer now... GETTING FREE STRIPES! The stripes are going to be silver, 2x 9" stripes like the ones on the Shelby GT500 and the side stripes are going to be the GT 500 style with the letters "MUSTANG" on it instead of GT 500.

Sounds good 👍 I think you're right about the dials, I seem to remember they have a few dozen different colours to select.

I've seen purple interior lights on a 2010 Mustang. We didn't try to change them because... well... PURPLE.

Pft... orange is the only dial color that really matters. :D

Congratulations. Finding a used car in mint condition is great!

Nice choice of colour/stripe combo. Check out the Ontario/Toronto Mustang club, they hold different meets and events all over Ontario so I'm sure theres something you and your dad could do together with them.

It's in the menu on the gauge cluster LCD to view. You click Setup then locate the MyColor portion and press Reset to select.

Nice enough car, though you'd never, ever, ever, catch me buying an ex-rental car. a) because they're all automatics over here (+Canada too, I suspect) & I sooooo despise autoboxes and b) because I drive rental cars frequently when I travel for work, and it doesn't matter what I'm given I thrash the crap out of them, (especially if I get a 'Stang or something similar on free upgrade!) 'cause "Hey, it's only a rental, right!" and I assume that most other folks treat 'em as badly. 20K km/miles on a rental is probably like 30 - 40K on a privately owned vehicle. :scared:

Yea.. its an automatic... :(. But, its been used very lightly and well maintained. Its been driven from Florida to here, and then auctioned to the dealer. Then, the sales manager drove it for a while. So now its got 27,000 km on it. But, its been excellently maintained. We also took a look at a red one.. and it looks like its been driven by you. But seriously, its in great condition. We looked literally EVERYWHERE for any wear, but we couldn't fine none. Zilch. Zero. Even the foot wells were like new. But for $32 000 including everything (taxes, some fee crap... even the stripes!), I think it was a decent deal. One thing I was pissed off though was that they charge you for the gasoline INSIDE the vehicle. $50..... WTF??

$32k for a used Mustang? You could've waited and got a brand new 5.0...

Thats including taxes and fees and the stripes. The price without taxes was $28 000. A Brand new 5.0 GT Premium costs.. hold on lemme check .. no wait a minute.... HOLY CRAP. THEY'VE RAISED THE 2011 PRICING FOR THE 2011 COUPE GT TO STARTING AT $38,499! WTF??!! By the way, that was actually real, I am building a 2011 GT as I am typing. Anyways, including taxes and all those fees, it would have come up to be around $41, 439 with the options in our Mustang. Thats not including taxes, which would make it be around $45k. Also, the 2010 Mustang GT starts at $33,499, bit with our options its $35,199 Here is the link to Ford Canada's build your own Mustang.

Why not get the V6 2011 version? It saves SOOOO MUCH FUEL! i am sorry but I think 2010 Mustang is BIG mistake.. Also USED!

By the way, why are the prices so high? Where I live you can buy a 5.0 for $29,645

True enough, but the 5.0 V8 is also considerably better than the 4.6 - there's another 100bhp to play with for a start.

The 2011 V6 has negligibly less power, does more to the gallon and...

And that's with leather, ambient lighting and all that.

Other than that, nice car. Just not the one I'd buy.

No offense, but your father over paid for that car. $32K is what a 2011 Premium GT goes for. A base GT would have only run your pop $29,000 and that's 0 miles.

Nobody should be paying new price for a year old car, let alone a rental of all things.

Well, the V6 is a PONY car.. and pony cars are for wimps. Second of all, Used isn't always bad. Our Sienna and Hyundai were bought used. They are awesome! As long as a used car was used very lightly (like the 'stang), its fine. Also, I wouldn't pay $6k more for 100 hp. When is my dad ever going to use it?

By that rationale, why pay probably a good $10k more for 50-100hp? When is your dad ever going to use it?

Also, ALL Mustangs, Camaros, Firebirds, etc etc are pony cars. Contrary to popular belief, they're designed to be somewhat good to drive yet cheap to build and sell. It's been that way since 1964. Sure, there were the special models with hyooge motors stuffed in, but that wasn't ever the vehicle's true purpose. The Model T was a car for everyone, the Mustang was a sporty car for everyone (and the Corvette a sports car for everyone).

Rotary Junkie, I 100% agree with you. My dad bought it to just have it. He dreamed of it since he was a kid, and now he wanted one. He's not going to race with it, he's just going to drive to work and back and go on occasional trips. The Mustang is a car for everyone (except for my mom 'cuz she'll crash it.. LOL) and its just fun to go around saying "I have a Mustang GT". They are built for everyday use and low priced so everyone can have it and experience a Mustang. One thing I don't agree with you 100% on is that its a Pony car. sure, its not meant to be racing with but its a pony car with the spirit of a Muscle car.
Bottom line, the Mustang is a car to brag about and feel good about having it just because its an iconic American sports car.
And can someone finish Jondot's sentence?

Explain yourself or face the wrath of a huge portion of the members here. Plus, the '11 V6 just might give that '10 GT a run for its money. Especially with the 6spd transmission.

So by your logic the following cars are "wimpy"?
  • Nissan 350Z
  • Hyundai Genesis Coupe
  • Chevrolet Camaro RS

Well when I mean wimpy is when you are talking about American sport cars.
and if you think its me VS GTP, no not really. Also, I suck at proving my point, so I'm gonna let SRV2LOW4ME do the work:

How can you say "V6" and "Muscle car" in the same sentence? Tell your dad to save up so he can afford the boy version, not the girl version, and get a V8 that will make him happier in the end. It will also keep him from telling people "yeah, I plan to drop a V8 into her one day" which everyone knows will never happen.

Better yet, here's a quote from you:
JCE
V6 + American sportscar does not = musclecar.

The Camaro is a heavy pig that will not be as fun to drive as the Mustang in any form much less the GT.

Solution, the 05-09 GT 5spd. That's all he needs.

No no, not 'better yet' at all, as that's comparing the 2010 engines. There's a whole new pair that have materialised since then, which arguably brings the V6 option up to a far better level.

Let's not forget the specs of the V6 engine that you quoted JCE (quite rightfully) dismissing there:

Yahoo Autos
4.0L V6, 12 valves, 210 hp @ 5300 rpm

That's by all means a useless engine, and tarring the new V6 with the same brush is a very, very stupid thing to do. Particularly when it's probably just as quick as the old V8.

You might as well have quoted him saying something about the V6 available in 1977.

Ok, I understand your point but you can brag about having a V8 under your hood. Also, don't you think that the GT looks better than the V6?
