Finally Got A Mustang - It starts!

Well when I mean wimpy is when you are talking about American sport cars.
and if you think its me VS GTP, no not really. Also, I suck at proving my point, so I'm gonna let SRV2LOW4ME do the work:

Better yet, here's a quote from you:

The V6's aren't wimpy though, that's my point. Yes the Camaro is heavy but the engine isn't wimpy. Plus when you consider that 2011 Mustangs are being sold why bother with a 2010 unless the price is uber cheap? The 2011 V6 can be a formidable match for the 2010 GT.

Ok, I understand your point but you can brag about having a V8 under your hood. Also, don't you think that the GT looks better than the V6?

The GT and V6 looks 95% identical. The fog lights are the exhaust tips are really the only noticeable difference--except in 2011 the V6 has dual exhaust. :D

Well that's just lovely.

They look the same to me. Except the alloys, which are both mediocre as far as I'm concerned.

Wow man, you should first check here before buying a used 2010 4.6 fuel thirsty Mustang..

Look, a 2011 mustang bit less power yet it can keep up with it, not to mention UPDATED suspension, better grip, and of course better FUEL savings.. also its NEW!!!

I am sorry but your father made a BIG mistake..

Here is video . 2010 vs 2011.. that 2011 can keep up.

@Jondot
You forgot to show the front.
@NoxNoctis Umbra
As I've said before, my dad isn't going to race. He's just going to drive it to work and sometimes take it for a joy ride. Then he'll occasionally brag about having a massive motor under the hood (I think that bragging about a V8 over a V6 is good. Especially in a world with many dumb people). Also as previously said, the new 2011 Mustangs cost ALOT more in Canada for some wierd reason than the 2010. Also, I just checked, that if you build the Mustang GT that we got, it would cost $32 000 WITHOUT the tax. The "stang that we got was a grand total of $32 000. AND it came with free silver GT 500 style stripes.

Someone has a short temper.... :P

Because someone made a dumb decision. No need to argue, I do not think I will change HIS or HERS mind.. but hey, life goes on, its not my money wasted haha

You forgot to show the front.

I did yes, it was intentional. I'm sneaky like that.

I'd reconsider who the dumb ones are if I were you

That's a 2011 Canadian Mustang. That's grey. That has all your options apart from the stripes. That's got 305hp. That's $4,000 less :)

We can just keep going around in circles if you like, I won't get bored.

Anyway, it's all very lovely that he's chosen a new car (if he wants a 2010 V8 who am I to stop him), but don't parade around under the impression that you can't get a new, equally good if not better 2011 model for less. Because you can. All you need to do is step away from the V8 bragging nonsense.

Brag about having a 4.6l V8 lump that's thirstier than a Scotsman on Hogmany and in an automatic, solid-rear axle car that weighs as much as a small moon? But why?

For 32K he could've bought a used 911, probably from the 993 or 996 era, with a more economical engine, better performance, less depreciation and definitely not a well thrashed ex-rental.
e.g. http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/cto/1705302153.html

Hell, my 911 is 30 years old and has performance figures that aren't too far off the 2010 Mustang GT, and still averaged 23mpg on Premium fuel during our 2200 mile roadtrip through Northern Cali & Oregon last summer.
Oh and it only has a 3.0 B6 engine, but of course that's not worth mentioning 'cos it's not a V8! :p

Good point Smallhorses. He would have done that if:
-Porsche parts were cheap
-He didn't have the Mustang as his dream car. There apparently was a Mustang on the street he lived in Iran, and every day came home and going to school, he stared at it, dreaming himself in it and driving it.
Also, how much is 13L/ 100km in the city? At least it uses Regular gas..

Performance specs for a 2010 4.6 GT Mustang suggest that it'll do 15 mpg city/22 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined.

Using regular fuel it suggests that it'll get 315HP & 325lb/ft torque that rises to 335lb/ft on Premium fuel (which isn't necessarily required.)

Oh, come now... Cross-shopping Porsches and Mustangs is like cross-shopping Pizza with Sushi.

Well, the V6 is a PONY car.. and pony cars are for wimps.

Errh... I know it's long past... but technically... whatever engine you put into a Mustang, it's still a Pony Car. The definition of the Pony car was specifically written to describe the Mustang... whether it had the base model six or the V8 under the hood.

So, according to you, your Dad bought a wimp car. Ouch. Maybe you should break the news to him yourself.

People who brag about having a V8 instead of a V6 are also the kind of people who believe the bigger the engine, the faster the car.

Actually, here's proof:

Click on Specs and options, and scroll down on the list (make sure you've selected 2010!)

People who brag about having a V8 instead of a V6 are also the kind of people who believe the bigger the engine, the faster the car.

Now if you apply that logic so that you KNOW that that is not true and you brag towards a dumbass who does not understand it, it works. Trust me, the world is full of dumb people.

I have to admit, I don't know what was going on in my head when I wrote that.

Which is quite a bad thing to do for those people when I beat a late 90's Mustang GT yesterday while driving my ultra wimpy SVT Focus with it's putrid two litre four cylinder naturally aspirated engine. :D

And, I may of choose the GT myself but it would of been purely on noise.

For a 2010 model, the V8 is the right choice. But it's really the person's preference. For some a V8 is what makes a Mustang a Mustang. However...

Man this thread has been thoroughly enjoyable to read. :)

A Mustang is his dream car? Someone set the bar a little low.

Your dad is going to feel dumb when he's filling up his WW2 era v8 and all the 5.0s go flying by. You got ripped.

Ok, seriously. How bad is 14L /100KM in the city?
And remember, it was $32,000 as a grand total.
Also, in Canada, the same GT with the 5.0 engine costs around $39000 for some reason as previously mentioned.
If we got a V6, it would have been the same price.

Nice car, 5.0 V8 412hp but 14l/100km in the city? that's not possible, well, maybe if you're going down a hill in sixth gear with the engine at 1000rpm
2q0q58w.gif

By the way, it's a sports car, what are its specs? maximum speed, acceleration...

Actually its a 4.6 L V8.
315 HP, 325 lb torque
0 - 60 MPH in 5.1 seconds
1/4 mile in 13.6 seconds

The point they're (still) trying to make is for around the same price and options he could have gotten a much more fuel efficient V6 with comparable power... This conversation truly is going in circles.

Okay now that everyone has ripped the poor guy for buying an "out-of-date" 4.6 Mustang, can we all please remember that the 4. 6 has been around for a LONG time, and is not only easily modded for WAY more power, It SOUNDS pretty nice once so modded.

Now. That said, yes I PERSONALLY might have waited for the new 5.0 when you start talking about $30 Large...

Personally I like the new V-6 as it is capable of 31 MPG, and it puts down 300+ HP.
It's about time an American V-6 made the power that Nissan has been making for years now.

My big wish is that MORE people would add the black-out panel between the tail-lights as I think that that space in body color looks "wrong".

Like I said, we could of help him if he came to the forums and ask for advice. I think Everyone agrees the 2011 V6 mustang is 10 times better buy over 2010 4.6 especially when he pay even MORE then the Premium V6 2011 model by couple of thousands!!!

People have to admit sometimes they are wrong and not continue to argue, all the guys here try to give some sense to the poor decision guy on best thing for the money. And that money is long gone now , down the drain.

Except the 4.6L is a great sounding engine and with basic mods it can be fast. But the likelihood of this guy's dad modding it is slim and he should just enjoy it. After all even the 4.6L isn't slow. With an automatic it is nearly down to 5s to 60mph.

Firstly, there has only been $2000 paid on is as a deposit, so its not too late yet...
Second of all, a new V6 costs around $28000 not including tax here in Canada. Thats one of the main reasons why he didn't get the V6. The reason why he didn't get the V6 is because even though it is new and fuel efficient, the looks at the front aren't as good and that there are less options available than the V8. Also, it would cost the same as the 4.6L.

You know, what. I am tired of arguing on this matter. Let's lust agree to disagree and accept our different opinions.

Ok, seriously. How bad is 14L /100KM in the city?

Don't you read?
I told you already...

Performance specs for a 2010 4.6 GT Mustang suggest that it'll do 15 mpg city/22 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined.

There, I've made it stand out a little more so you can't miss it. :ouch:

Contrary to mpg where the higher the number the better, L/100km is better if you have lower numbers. (You're using less litres of fuel to travel 100km, thus have better fuel efficiency.)

Actually, 15 MPG equals 15.6 L / 100 Km.

BTW, your dad got a nice stang, and I would have bought that instead of a 2011 V6, because a V8 is a V8. :sly:
