Well..I was super young when I got it. My save right now actually has plenty of licenses..all except the time trials which I'm sure I'll get.

The thing I'm curious about is..I had 18,000 credits..that's right ??

I LOVE the presentation of cars in GT3, now I notice the similarities and good differences of GT4. BUT, they took out the used car lot and I have no idea why.

Cars that would be like 5k in GT4 are 22k in GT3.

I searched and searched, the fastest car for almost all my money was the 149HP PT Cruiser, which I hate. I only put the Racing Chip in it, and I'm still struggling with Deep Forest in Clubman cup. I just need a good line..and to block them right..damn Peugeot. What do you think ??

Personally I think you went wrong with your first car, it may have the most power but it handles and looks like a Hearse.

Get some easy money on the Sunday Cup races, sell your bus and buy a balanced car like the Mazda MX5 (Eunos roadster)

Give it some serious grunt put a stage 2 turbo and racing brakes on it and you should have no problem.

AH !! What I MEANT to ask was, it's the same like GT4 ?? You can "unlock" price cars over and over and sell them ??

I just sold the Sprinter Trueno to tune up the damn hearse..I'm gonna miss it >.<

Only in events that are championships, I think. Single race events like sunday cup will not get you another car. But somthing like Amatuer Japanese Championship will.

Wow..this is nothing as easy as GT4. So you guys do race after race, 1,000 after 1,000 till you make like at least 25,000 JUST for a decent Silvia ?? That's still stock !? Whoa. Saving the game is really making my progress so much harder..

I actually started my game for the first time approx 1 month ago. I was able to gold the B licence and get the Mazda MX5 as prize car. I then usesd this to just start going to any race I could.

It's a little slog to start with, but you will be able to win some resonable money.

I am currently 40% in to the game, I have 2.5mil credits and have yet to buy a car. It's just a matter of finding races you can compete in with to get upgrades for your car. I then went and did all the rally's, Wet ones first, then used the prize car to win the rest. Got the Escudo and wnet and did the speedway.

Yeah it was overkill, But was able to win an F1 and now I have been racing in the Professional league. A lot bigger money on offer there.

Oh my gosh..Open Addict, that's insane. Reminds me of GT2. I just bought the old Supra, and from then on it was all prize cars.

You mean to tell me, you haven't BOUGHT a single car in GT3 ?? Nice work. I doubt your 2.5 million credits came from just that Miata, tho l0l0l0l

I think they got rid of the used car lot in GT3 because they focused so much attention on upgrading graphics and making the game presentable for what was then the next-gen console. There was only 2 years of difference between GT2 and GT3 (imagine that!) so PD must have been in somewhat of a rush to only add the most necessary, basic portions of the game.

Wow. You guys are kidding, right? I found the PT Cruiser will BLOW AWAY most of the beginner's league. The Clubman in particular won't require any additional power upgrades, but you should upgrade the suspension if you like...maybe put some sport tires on. And TURN OFF the driving aids. Leave TCS on "1" if wheelspin bothers you, but KILL the ASC. This will free up lots of momentum as you corner.

I'll agree that the PT can be difficult to drive. Still, I blew thru the Clubman according to my notes with nothing more than a sport suspension. It was a close race of course; but that's how I like 'em. ;)

A Miata with stage 2 anything is serious overkill in the Clubman. Come on, you can do better..... I personally went ALL stock in the Clubman with the weakest Miata (the 118 hp one). This will guarantee a tight race, which means any power upgrades will make things far too easy. For me, anyways. ;)

GRR, my money is so pathetic. I guess when you first start the game, it COMES with the damn assists. I don't think GT4 is like that, you have to "ask" for the assists. But who the heck wants that ?? Now I can hold a good ass line, damn assists ruined me. ;/

The PT Cruiser as a first car is a "powerhouse"..but damn I wish I could've just unlocked prize cars.

I'm stuck on the last B license with the R32 Skyline in Trial Mountain..in fact I'm gonna hit it up now. I just need to shave 300 milliseconds ;/ I HATE crossing the line and failing, I failed with like 2 milliseconds once. Then I have to exit and reload, cuz I CAN'T compete with that damn ghost of mine, l0l0l0l

OMG. Now how do I change to kilometers !? I'm trying to use youtube as a guide, and everybody is using kmh. I went in the Options and I can't find it.

Actually GT4 has assists ON with any car you buy or win, as well. 👎 I'll never understand the logic...it makes cars harder to drive.

I'm lucky I started with GT1. No assists in that game at all; altho this game simulates TCS to a small extent.

It's tough, but worth it..lol. Remember this (it helps whenever I get frustrated): if countless thousands of other GTers have been able to do it, so can you.

You can't change to km/h in GT3. Only starting in the fourth game could this be done. :indiff: Remember...62 mph is about 100 km/h.

Starting "in the fourth game" ?? Whatever do you mean ?? I need kmh so I can use youtube, if not I'm gonna have to cut those corners nasty.

 I thought GT3 only had Kilometres per hour and not Miles per hour?

It depends on where the game was shipped. NTSC North American is mostly mph. NTSC Asian and PAL (Europe) versions are km/h, since most people in those countries use the metric system. You can't change the options at all in GT3...not without hacking into the game, that is. GT4 was the first Gran Turismo that gave us the option to change from standard to metric.

IMO start off with the sprinter trueno i have used this car with the sunday cup and clubman cup and went through both of them actually very easily.

1989 Mazda MX-5(Miata) is the 'best' starter car as it can be used by a moderately competent driver to win the following events:

B1: Sunday
B2: Clubman
B4: FR
B9: Spider / Roadster
B10: 80s Cup
B11: NA
B12: Turbo
B20: World
A1: Japanese Car
A2: American
A3: European
A7: FR
A12: 80s Cup
A13: NA
A14: Turbo
P1: British v. MSE, Tuscan, Jag, AM
P4: FR - Mf round only. v. Z06, TVR, Camaro, CL600
P10: Turbo v. Japanese Road
E2: Seattle 100
E4: Rome 2 hr
E7: Roadster (MX-5/Miata) untuned
E10: SuperSpeedway

Iirc, the endurance races give decent prize value (money + car), and the E7 race obviously doesn't require much additional expense other than a nice set of hard tyres.

I liked to start by golding all the tests to get the prize cars. However, this is a tough ask, even the B and A licenses.

B-8 (as mentioned above) is a b**ch of a test, enough to make you give up on the idea of all gold, but keep telling yourself "it can be done!" :)

A-7 is another toughie - sometimes known as "the test where a perfect run isn't good enough" - but it can be done in auto, and can be done a little more easily by short-shifting if you are willing to go to manual gear shift.

The Vitz tournament in Professional I think it is is freaking INSANE. I'll tune up all the way, and somehow I might need a different setup..I have no idea

All I know how to do is tune..HP that is !! >.<

GTVault.com might be able to help you with that.

I started with B-License prize car, used it for the Miata enduro and got $100K.

Then began the awesome series of prize cars, carefully planned:
purchase Mercedes SLK
Legend of Silver Arrow> Mercedes CLK Race Car
Deutsche Tourenwagen Challenge> Volkswagen Lupo Cup Car
(intermediate) FF Challenge> TRD Celica
(expert) FF Challenge> Spoon Civic
Type R Race> Spoon S2000

Awesome.

I have just completed this event. With a prizecar Vitz (from FF beginner) all upgrades added. lowered ride height, changed to racing tyres (a touch harder than medium) and drive hard.
