I just found out that I'm getting my PS2 back Monday and I am so friggin excited. the only time i've ever played a GT game was gt3 in NY a few years ago. Sadly I shied away from it because of the sheer number of cars I could choose from. My Cuz also had them organized by class which confused me even more. But I've grown up since then and something like NFSU2 just won't cut it anymore. Plus, It'd be awesome if my 50+ dad could play with me and since he's a Honda freak he'll probably give in and play with me on the PS2 for once. If all goes well, he migh even get me a wheel.

Anything to say (Tips, Advice, Dirty Tricks, Insults, etc.) to a total GT Beginner like me?

Hit pause and take washroom breaks, as diapers are only for hardcore nerds.

Here's some tips:

-Don't expect to dive right in and be the greatest driver at this game. It takes time. Plus it's enjoyable.

-Spend your credits wisely. Buy what you need for races before you buy what you want. ;)

-Have Fun :)

-Don't whine on here about how the game isn't like Need For Speed or some other arcade style racing game. If that's what you like, go buy NFS then!! But, I'm hoping your not like that. :)

and.....(I speak from experience) Make a back up copy of your game save often! I lost my GT4 save at 98% :( At least I had a copy that was at 60%.

Understeer is god awful. if you dont hit the correct line at the right speed, expect to fly off road as your front tires become glass.

Don't drink and drive...

The outcomes of drinking and driving may result in nudity.

Buy a wheel, and then plan to spend the next several months indoors

Months? Don't you mean years?

Don't forget that it's just a game.

People can get really stressed over it.

2 weeks. If not less.

For me it was about 4 weeks :D

It depends how heavily into cars you are. If you're really hardcore about tuning set-ups and lap times then you'll probably get a lot more out of it than I did. Also, you have to be prepared to put up with the stupid AI and boring racing.

I am a semi hardcore car person and I've toyed with the settings often in NFSU2, but lack of knowledge in such areas have yielded little result. Either way I might look at the guides here to get into it a bit more, but maybe later when I have the time (Next Summer).
