I've got an almost identical set of upgrades planned for the next couple of months :) Just unsure on the graphics card at the mo. You'll have to post a review of the 6800GT once it's up and running 👍 Please!

£205 they were out of stock as soon as I placed in my order for the Leadtek one so they sent me the XFX one insted.

Finally got the case and cable sleeving through I show it off tonight or Wednesday buds.

I,m taking most of the inside parts out of my Dell 4550 expect for the PSU.

So are you building a computer from scratch with new mobo, cpu etc. or just getting a new case, gpu and ram and getting all other parts from the 4550?

Not buying a new motherboard or CPU transfering the P4 2.53GHZ and the motherboard I already have. Aswell as the 2 HDD's, CD-RW, DVD Rom Drive.

The 512MB DDR2700 ram I already have add that with the ram, I got through today and my ram will jump to 1024MB DDR2700 Ram.

Also the GF4 MX420 will not be used in the new case, since I have the GF6800 GT waiting to be installed.

I will and I be getting screen shots of it running on the following games:

BF1942
BF2
Brothers In Arms
COD
D3
Far Cry
Halo
NFS UG2
HL2 and CS: Source

And some demos also I post up my results in 3D Mark 2001, 2003 and 2005.

Got to wait till next weekend to get my new PC parts installed now since my big bro does not have time to install them for me.

I will also try and get screen shots of tech demos working on the 6800 GT.

I installed the PSU its just like the motherboard, GPU and Ram.

Don't won't to fry any of the parts because if I fry the parts I have to pay for more new parts. But if my big bro frys them which moslty likey, he will not them he would have to pay for the new parts.

I would of installed the new parts if they had any anti static wrist straps on sale near me.

I have never used an anti-static wristband, I have also never fried any hardware during installation.

Careful handling and common sense makes up for absence of wristband.

My big bro has let me down yet again he told me he was coming around today to install my new PC Parts.

Insted he goes out and travels to a place so he can get some sun grrrrrrr.

So it looks like I will have to get my dad to install my new PC parts now, since my big bro is not back till Sunday grrrrrr.

I was so looking forward to playing BF2 and Brothers In Arms been waiting 2-5 months to play Brothers In Arms and 3-5 weeks to play BF2.

OK my dad is installing the new parts to the new case in a cople hours, I should have a review and screens up sometime after Monday or Tuesday buds.

dude, ive NEVER used an anti-static band, and ive completely assembled a PC without one, let along a few little upgrades. common sense is all you need

Just make sure you keep the power cable plugged in (but turned off at the wall) so thec case is nicely grounded and make sure you regularly touch the metal insides of the case to ground yourself and you'll be find. Alternatively you can ground yourself on metal pipes :p

oops, i never do that :P

OK my PC is going to be down for a cople of days or even a week/2.

Since my motherboard uses a different front pannel power on switch to the one on my new case. Which means in other terms I have to get a new Motherboard and CPU.

New CPU I am looking at is AMD 64 3200 or 3500 with AGP motherboard.

OK other upgrades I am getting:

AMD 64 3500+
Asus A8V Deluxe VIA K8T800 Pro Motherbaord (This also supports my DDR 2700 Ram)
Zalman CNPS7700-CU Ultra-Quiet CPU Heatsink
Akasa Rounded Ultra ATA133/100/66 IDE Cable (In Black!!)

Other things I am buying for the PC:

Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound for the heatsink
Anti Static Gloves (Want to make sure my dad or my big bro does not fry the new CPU and heatsink.)

I think thats all the other parts total price of this lot: £310

Add that on to the £456 I spent total price: £766.

That is the most I have ever spent on upgrades in 2 months, but once AMD 64 supports DDR2 by next year. I will be buying a 939 socket PCI Express and DDR2 mothboard, aswell as saving money for a 256MB GF7800 GTX but that be by next year.

Wait, they're still upgrades? Sound like you just bought a whole new computer.

You should have just done it all yourself, it isn't too hard, just take right precaustions.

i dont get it. the power button doesnt affect wether you need a new MOBO. it uses jumper plugs, otherwise you wouldnt just be able to get any old case.

I see if I can get a photo of what I mean but my current CPU is nearly 4 years old so its worth an upgrade now.

Don't want to get bottleneck.

OK got my new heatsink, motherboard, and CPU through aswell as a rounded floopy cable.

I will leave the rounded IDE and UATA cable till next month, could not get any antic static gloves they were sold out.

Should have the rest of the parts installed by Saturday w00t.

Could not get photos of the other parts, but I must admit the Heatsink does way a lot on a site it says 2LB's.

But I read the way its installed is one of the best designs.

After so many delays of getting the new parts now I face a new breed of delay. The all new installing all the new parts delay, it seems my big bro wants to install my new parts in my new rig.

Around his house the only way I am going to let that happen is if I am around there, watching him install the new parts.

Plus he goes "I do not know when I will get them installed" but I told him "I want them installed this weekend".

Since I been waiting so long to get the new parts, and I do not know if I can stand another week on my dads PC grrrrr.

Why don't you just install the parts yourself?
