Its gonna get pushed back. Like everything else. I expect to be released 2 or 3 months from now.

Where are you that you are being contained. In other words, where are you that you won't be allowed to be released for at least two more months?
 
I have only one question about ffxi - will it allow me to install Linux onto the HD? That's really the ONLY reason I have for spending $130 on a 40 gig hard drive...

Better yet, i've got a mod chip - I'll just use a generic drive and format it for use on the ps2

Well, to run Linux on the PS2 you have to have the Linux DVDs to boot. At $130 for a hard drive and a game you might as well get the Linux kit for $200 and have the network adaptor, VGA, keyboard / mouse, and the proper software included.

software can be found anyware - plus there are multiple ps2 linux releases out there. The network adapter, i have. The mouse and keyboard, i can dig up from my room somewhere. $50 for a hd and about 2 hours of my time to config - not a bad deal.
 
I just saw the ad for the game and hard drive today. So why in the hell would they put an ad on if it was going to come out in September. Explane that you people who think it's comming out in September.
 
It will probably be out by the 24th of this month as with every other end of 1st quarter/beginning of 2nd quarter release. Either way, it doesn't have linux on it and it's still uncertain as to whether or not it will support linux. Is it REALLY worth spending $100USD on a 40 gig drive and a not too great game that you will pay $10US/month for?
 
'Tis now March, I expect it in about 2-3 months...even though I can't afford it. I mean damn, $130?!? The HDD is probably gonna cost $100-150! Lol! Stupid expensive games and stuff...:(
 
its coming out in just a couple days. i live about an hour from San Fransisco and they have been announcing that i think its either wednesday or thursday night they are having a huge all night release party at the sony metreon playstation store for ffxi.
