Review:

Well written, well acted, good music, good directing. 👍

I never liked the story peter pan - I always thought that it was pretty lame and had a bad message. But this movie was very touching and went a long way toward explaining what peter pan is about.

This wasn't a particularly sad movie. I've seen lots of movies that deal with more serious, sad situations than this one and kept it together. But I cried. I don't completely know why I did, but in the classic writers-who-want-to-get-you-to-cry way, they just kept pouring it on and drawing it out so that you get worn down. I knew how the movie was going to end about 20% of the way through it, lots of time to prepare... but the scene where he tells the boy "that's it, you've grown up" or when the mom is walking in to neverland really got me. I think somehow I just identified with the theme of the loss of innocence. I found myself identifying with the little boy who wanted to grow up as fast as possible and seeing it from an adult's perspective.

...and I really got to like johnny Depp's character and so it was tough to see him cope with how society expected him to act.

What did you think?

It's called "Finding Neverland". I saw it when it first came out on DVD and I thought it was pretty good. I'd give it a "B".

I saw it with my girlfriend, who loved it. I was lukewarm. Of course, Johnny Depp was great, but I've never liked Peter Pan too much either, and can't really understand why it's been adapted so many times. This film offered a little more interesting background to the story though, so I'd agree with a6m5's B rating. It's a solid movie, just not up my alley I guess.
