Hey guys,
i noticed sth. rather interesting đź’ˇ by looking at some old screens of gt5 P. I may be completely wrong :nervous: but it is possible that we can see the first evidence of the damage model on the following screens under which I add some comments, which explain my little theory xD. :)
I am really looking forward to your comments, thx

The driver is at the 11th place, the time is 1.09 mins, you should look at the times and positions of the drivers on each screenshot in order do understand what i am trying to explain
ah0019a.jpg
Here you can see that he lost 2 positions (now 13th, probably a rather slow and bad diver), now notice the silver ferrari directly behind him, behind the ferrari must be 2 other cars
6.jpg
Now notice that he is at the 15th position, only 2.5 seconds later and the silver ferrari is far behind him, the two other cars are already ahead of them which means that the driver was extremly slow and the silver ferrari must have ramed him, so now watch this silver ferrai very closely, the shock absorber and the hood both look kinda deformed
ah0018a.jpg
well here you just can see that even the silver ferrari overtook the obviously bad driver

Umm way to unclear to even see if its just bad quality pictures making you see these things, i see nothing to draw any conclusions from and whether its even damage or not.

Unless I see everyone avoiding a random bumper in the middle of the road, i'm not convinced.

yeah i know but you can have a look at them in better quality at the official gran turismo site http://www.gran-turismo.com/gt5p/index_en.html
and btw. polyphony is working for a very long time on the damage model, so i guess it was sth. like an experiment which did not work out back than (you can tell by the relativly bad graphics, they just did not now the ps3 well enough in order to run the game with damage and, good framerate and good graphics)

looks the same to me in all the pictures only father away but take a look at that rear view mirror obviously an earlier build so it probably didnt have any vehicular damage

yes it is an early build and yes that means it could be just a graphical issue but who knows...

That build is from about the same time Yamauchi showed one of the very first gameplay videos from GT5P. Look at the the rear view mirrors, they are useless, and show little to no detail. In that video we can see Yamauchi heavily crashing into the hairping of Suzuka, and of course, without suffering any damage.

So, I'm sorry man, you are just dreaming.

well you know what as you said i do not believe yamauchi is a bad driver so i doubt it was him and as far as i remeber only these shots were shown not a video by that time i remember actually really well so...and what are you trying to tell me about the mirros damned..look at the shot where the camera is showing the rear view where you can claerly see the silver ferrari way behind...man first look, think and than dismiss sth. completely.. ahhhh

@2:30

No damage at all. And as far as I can remember, it was Yamauchi driving.

By the way, rear view mirror is not the same as "look back view".

ok look man i do not really want to get offensive just that you know because you sound like you're searching for dispute, but look even if this video is played by him by that time the screenshots were showen, why would they show(live) a version of the game with an unfinished damage model, they may turned it off ( on the screenshots it is barely noticable so they probably did not care), 2nd. i do not understand what you are telling me with the mirrors-you were the one who talked about theam, i did not even mention them both, i just said look at the shot where you can see-as you call it: look back view. and btw. thats only an idea and i still ahve the feeling you're not actually looking at the shots

No, I'm not looking for dispute.

Anyway, if you have GT5P (I assume you do), just take a look at how the cars get lost in the distance, you'll see that their rendering quality is greatly downgraded (LOD) as they leave you behind, maybe that's why you see a "deformed silver Ferrari" due to the lower polygon count in that model.

hmmm yes you are probably right but i said earlier that i too think that it is just a graphical issue so...and no i do not own gt 5 because i do not even own a ps3, unfortanatly (but soon i'll have it) and thanks for the comments:tup:

It's funny that in that video wheel goes full 900 degrees ( or similar) of rotation, and in our Prologue is not :(

I am guessing they will have this in FULL gt5, as well tons of other stuff, they are just teasing us.

During the building stages of GT5:P they had the steering wheel turning a full 900 degrees, but it caused some rendering issues with the arms so they changed it to 180 degrees so that the arms didn't move, but, I remember reading somewhere in an interview with one of the higher ups in PD that they are working to get the 900 degrees working right. but I don't think it was with Kaz.

I've noticed that too.

Also, it looks like when he brakes hard, the hands of the driver hold harder to the steering wheel, or maybe I'm imagining things LOL

Yeah, hope you are right, but they should get rid of that granny 10-2 hands position.

Because no racing school on earth teaches you to drive with your hands or either 10-2 or 9-3 do they!!!!!

Nothing 'granny' at all about a 10-2 position, rather its one of the two best hand positions for a driver.

Lets take a look at that well know 'granny' Ari Vatenan regularly switch between 9-3 and 10-2 on his way up Pikes Peak....

...really someone should tell him he's doing it all wrong.

ferrari...

alex,if you make a spelling mistake, you can use the EDIT button on that verry post to adjust in stead of making a new one:tup::sly:

as for the silver ferrari,i agree with the others its just a resolution bugger...:)

spyrrari.

I also think the deformed Ferrari simply is down to the limited resolution of that picture. Also, I don't think they'd just let damage slip by us, that's just not Polyphony. They'd show us in full, or not at all, but not like this. Sorry Alex! :)
