First Attempt. Any Advice?

Any advice on my first few attempts at photomoding? All opinions accepted!

Side note, I have very little interest in cameras in real life so explanations of things like AE Lock if suggested please.

You can find a lot of different tutorials on the site, but now you need this one. It covers the basics and principles of the work with camera in GT. Unfortunately it was written to GT5 but I think you'll understand because control elements have not changed much.
