So, I think in a month or so, I'll be getting a PS3. I think the first game I want to get is Midnight Club LA Complete Edition. There's a TON of customization in it, and it should hold me over until TDU2 comes out, which will hold me over until GT5 and then somewhere in there I'll probably get NFS: HP3.

But, are there any other games you guys suggest? (I'll probably borrow GTAIV, Uncharted 1 & 2, Fallout 3, Resistance 2, God of War 3 and a couple others from my brother.)

And I'll be getting The Secret of Monkey Island, too.

I vote for GT5

Just keep playing GT4 :D

It figures you'd pop in and say that.

I'll play it still...especially if I can get my hands on a Backwards compatible PS3. Then I'll get the memory card adapter and load my GT4 game to my PS3. (although, I'll probably wait to do that after I upgrade the HDD)

GT5P, F1:CE, Dirt 2,...
Red Dead Redemption (not a driving game but I got one month of play time out of this game)

GT5P without a doubt. It was my first game and it is still the one I play the most. It has to be fairly cheap by now, and you will get hundreds of hours out of it with the online mode.

You want something that will last? If you don't mind a little swords 'n' sorcery, then get Oblivion: Game Of The Year Edition. I got it when it came out. After clocking up over 90 hours I still hadn't started the main story quest! I am still finding new stuff to do an quests to complete, over 150 hours into it. It's the ultimate fantasy RPG for consoles, and for me the ultimate adventure game. Get Fallout 3:GOTY edition to go with it and you may never need to buy another adventure game again.
And of course this year you've got GT5.

MGS4 and F1:CE are the only ones that I recommend which you havn't mentioned you'll be borrowing.

Eee yo guys missed Demon's Souls. It's a must have PS3 exclusive game unless you don't like challenging games hehe.

I also recommend: Red Dead Redemption, Blur, LittleBigPlanet, Borderlands.

I'm sure these games gonna hold you over till GT5.

Red Dead Redemption. Should give you lots of hours of gameplay just with the singleplayer and then you have the multi-player too. 5 DLC packs announced....one of which is already out!

Motorstorm Pacific Rift, hugely under rated in my opinion and a helluva lot of fun! Uncharterd 2 also is fantastic.

Burnout Paradise.

edit: I wouldn't bother getting Fallout 3 on the PS3 - get it on PC instead. I bought the GOTY edition on PC and can only imagine the sort of control mapping compromises in a console port.

$30 - Little Big Planet: Game of the Year Edition
$20 - Burnout Paradise
$10 - Pixel Junk Monsters

I can't recommend GT5P even at its $30 price tag. It wasn't even that great of a game at its launch due to it's mission styled races, bare bones racing (no pitstops etc) and bare bones online mode. Just wait for GT5. That way the shock of how far the franchise has come will be even bigger for you.

I do not have a computer that will run it. If I play Fallout, it'll be on the PS3.

But, yeah, Burnout Paradise, I'll probably get. (too bad the Ultimate Box isn't available on consoles) and I'll probably get LPB and Motorstorm 2. :P

Actually it may be better to hold off on Little Big Planet

Little Big Planet 2, which releases in November, will be 100% backwards compatible with all Little Big Planet 1 user levels. So you can start off with LBP2 and still enjoy the thousands of usercreated levels out there right now

I would just wait until November and shell out $60 for LBP2 instead of shelling out $30 now for a game thats about to be updated/outdated in 4 months.

Also keep in mind Burnout Paradise is available for download on the playstation Network. I think the "ultimate" pack that gives you the full game and every add on is around $30 or $40 to download and under 10gbs. I would check and see if downloading it is cheaper then the disc version

gotcha. I'm surprised no one mentioned GRID. I'll definitely be getting DIRT 2. Gotta have a good rally game and the first DIRT was pretty awesome. But what about GRID and Fuel? Although, I heard Fuel was pretty boring. But what about GRID? how is it? I only played the demo and it was pretty fun to smash the cars, but is the game itself pretty fun?

Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box IS available for the PS3. Don't even go near the Motorstorm series. Three words sum them up: Annoying, simple, rubbish.

If you want a good rally game, wait for Milestone's official WRC game. Dirt and Dirt 2, although entertaining enough, shouldn't even be classed as rally games. They are offroad racing games, and arcadey enough to be labelled 'plain and simple'.

Milestone's WRC isn't coming out in America, I don't think and I like the motorstorm series. I shall have to hunt down Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box for the PS3, then, though. However came up with the idea to include all the DLC content in a single package should get a medal of some sort.

You really like labelling a lot of stuff plain and simple don't you? What exactly do you ever find challenging oh Master Hawking.

I agree that Dirt 2 is simple but I wouldn't rule it out because of that, it's an extremely fun game to play online.

GRID is alright, but definitely not a stellar game. It has the most arcadey physics you will ever find, and the racing is not extremely fun. It can provide some hours of gameplay, especially online, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.

Er, this is my opinion but I don't agree. Grid's physics are arcade-y if you leave all the aids on. Turn them off and Grid turns into a real gem of a game (when I say all I mean, so traction control, anti-lock brakes, the lot) and the racing really is fun. When I first played Grid all the way through I found it a very fun and addictive game. Not to mention online is great if you can find a group of friends that drive disallowed aids. I still go on Grid every couple of weeks, in my mind it's one of the best racing games out on PS3.

Concerning games for the PS3, Uncharted 2 is great and you don't really need to have played the previous one to understand it. I personally enjoyed Motorstorm but it's not to everyone's taste (and I preferred the original to Pacific Rift despite the additional features found in Pacific Rift). Killzone 2 is a must play at some point as well. Of course, I'm missing the obvious ones such as LBP etc because people have probably already mentioned them. Another game perhaps worth playing (if you haven't as of yet) is GTA IV, I got this game on rental this week and am currently really enjoying it. Oh and Dirt 2, that's a epic game for fun levels.

Which model will you be getting? All new consoles off the shelf lack backwards compatibility for PS2 games. They will, however, play PSOne games.

As for what games to start with, I'd recommend Final Fantasy XIII, Heavy Rain, and Rock Band (if you don't already have it for another system).

I said that Dirt 2 was simple because, compared to the original McRae games on PS1 and PS2, it is frankly an insult. Back then, the Colin McRae Rally games combined great handling and just enough realism to appeal to both the hardcore rally enthusiast and racing fans in general. I find Dirt 2 very challenging, but give up after only ten minutes every time I switch it on. Not because it is too hard for me(I completed all the McRae games, WRC games and GTs), but because I get bored with having to play stupid OTT events on dull(too few) tracks amongst daft Americans. And online it is full of idiots who only want to smash into each other. Not a good racing experience, online or off.

You need to get in with the regulars from GTP. We race Jam sessions all the time, everyone races clean and I know that when I spun someone by accident I waited for them to re-take the position, I think the others would do the same.
