OK off to a great start w that! thx so much

However can’t seem to get the clutch/h shifter recognized and the thing dumps me into reverse every time I get in the car

The button config is still a work in progress
I'll send you my button layout.
Works absolutely flawless 😉

Tesla hasn't been in a Forza game since FH3. Presumably they're not interested - as you've noticed Playground aren't shy about adding new EVs to the game, so I assume they've tried.
Thanks for the feedback, makes sense.

VXR
For many years I've jumped between GT7 and Horizon on Xbox, and the fact they can both exist in their own bubble, both near the top of their game is a wonderful duo of racing games to live with. Glad you're enjoying it now it's accessible.
I truly am enjoying it and will get FH6 if it also comes to the PS5. Yes it's that enjoyable and the music in it is on point, at least in my opinion. It has a hooking effect because when I switch it off completely to only hear the engine/exhaust sounds I get bored sooner compared to having the music on and playing for longer stretches. They must have cracked some science on how good music will keep people playing longer, leave alone the skill point boosting songs that come on every so often.

In any gaming session, I basically play GT7 with PSVR2 first then spend more time afterwards, playing FH5 till my free time allotment is done. LOL!

Has anyone noticed cars get dirtier quicker in the rally adventure map versus the main Mexico map? lol.

Makes sense with the new dust physics in the Expansion.

Thanks! I did not know that. Though it's way too easy for the cars to get fully dusty if I drive a car through a cloud of dust. like it hits maximum dustiness less than a minute. No biggie, just noticed.

I am going to hijack this thread to share also my impression about this game.

I am a die hard GT fanboy for over 2 decades now
I have always been critizing the Forza MS and Horizon without much experience, nor any hands-on, except maybe for a few minutes at a demo at some point, but no much to say in depth.

I must admit this has been a sad error on my part for dismissing this game unfairly, judging a book by its cover, either because of fear or jealousy, or maybe even both:
  • fear that this game would (Motorsports) would dethrone my favorite game (GT series)
  • jealous that you Xbox owners are somehow having fun and I can't get to it because I am preventing myself from getting an Xbox (well my bank Account was primarily, and time and my wife too)

Are my preconceived ideas about either the Forza Motorsports and Forza Horizon justified ?
Maybe and maybe not... But I cannot truly say it, until I test and have a taste it for myself.

I know I come very late to this game, and most people already have moved on and we are all already waiting for the coming for FH6 soon.

In preparation for it, and I hope it will also come on PS5:

At this point in time, I still don't know how I stand against or for Forza, but here I stand on trying to correctly evaluate, at least try fairly to see it for myself.

I just bought FH5 and the PS5 is going to take the next few hours to download the premium version.

My commitment to you here is in the next months or so, I will be a clean blank sheet of paper, and play Forza Horizon 5 on my PS5 withOUT any negative judgement, unless they are justified and I will try to lay them here to get feedback from you. I believe I am now in a position to fairly provide that assessment as I have no ill will , and because I am happy MS has allowed for this cross console availability.

I really wished they did the same with the Forza Motorsports, namely make it available on PS5, but I have a suspicion that the FM is not and would not able to keep up with what GT offers (sorry for another dig here ;) )
FM would be a much closer contender to the GT series, but I think it is clear to all of us how this turned out.

I understand that Forza Horizon cannot fairly be compared 1:1 with GT, as they are games with different intentions, except for being fun, but fun is a very subjective topic in this case.
Yet, I think the correct way to compare those two games is based on fun, how fun it is...

This is going to be a very weird comparison, and I am aware that I cannot let my judgement about FH5 be representing what All of the Forza series should be, whether good or bad.

I don't want to to criticize blindly, but give the pros and the cons how each one can be better, so that we can all enjoy either correctly, without the wrong mindset.

In short, this will be my very first time venturing on strange ground, and I will try to be as respectful as possible.

I want to be as fair as possible And honestly I really want to be able to enjoy this game for what it is worth....

I think I can already say, that because these two games are different, they can coexisting (they are) but that one being better than the other does not do justice to the people who enjoy them respectively.

Sorry for the long read, but I honestly can't wait to share my perspectives here.

A few basic questions I will try to answer for myself:
1) ?Am I having fun
2) Who is this game truly aimed for?
3) What are the things I most like and would like to see in GT?
4) What are the short coming and things I would like to see from GT to make this game better ?

I didn't read any of the posts in this 2 first pages, I didn't want to get myself influenced or sway in anyway...
It's like going to see a movie without knowing much about it... Aside from all my previous personal preconceived ideas, which I am now open to be corrected or confirmed.

Give me a day or two ;)

Edit:
I forgot to mention:
In my past:
I have enjoyed NFS the first 3 or 4 games during my younger years, up to NFS Hot Pursuit and the Porsche special, but after that, I grew distant and have moved on from the entire NFS latest series, I have found them to be too childish, Arcade ridiculous destruction derby and inciting wreckless driving in urban area... I don't enjoy that sort of violence anymore.

I recently bought NFS unbound because I really like the style of graphics and Manga style of drawing, but I have not yet played it lol... Paid for not playing :)

A couple of years ago, I got the Crew 1 and the Crew 2 on sale, upon playing for an hour or two, I realized that I was and am still not in the mood for that type of games, it's similar to NFS.... So I paid for them but only played for 2 hours and completely ignored the #2... (Was it a mistake? Should I give them another try?)

I got Grid too, but never played or disliked it
I keep on coming back to GT.

I got Formula 1 2019 but decided that I was not ready for it, too competitive and I barely mastered the GT red bull in X2019

Last year, I tried the demo for the Crew MotorFest and I found it pointless too, so I gave up after an hour.

The two other car games I enjoy besides GT are:
Project Cars 2
ACC
But ever since I got the PSVR2, GT has pulled me back and PC2 and ACC have been unfairly gathering dust...

As you can see I have tried on many occasions to go away from GT...

Will FH5 succeed to keep my mind more open?

Hello there. As in all things, it's good to be open minded and try. Have you tried other "simcade" games (Crew 2, Crew Motorfest, NFS Unbound)? These are more aligned to FH5 than GT7.

The intro and the first stories and races should get you going on what the game is all about, and which asks you to suspend belief in order to get the most fun out of your experience. You will need to play a few hours or so you to unlock the game proper.

Since you purchased the Premium version, expect to get lots of initial cars and bonuses. Earning credits and Forza Points (another in-game currency, valuable for the rarer cars available from the Backstage) and more cars is easy.

Lastly, my recommendation would be to not compare the experience 1:1 with GT7. I certainly do not compare it 1:1 to FM and I do not drive like I do in the latter, although the driving models are actually very compatible.

Ah, and whenever you can, climb the volcano from either side at sunrise.

Enjoy the beauty and embrace the silliness. :gtpflag:

I came back to edit my post on the points I forgot to originally add, which you have correctly raised.

Have I sampled other similar games to FH5 ?

In short, i have, but at the same time, I still didn't have an open mind ever since I gave up on NFS decades ago, because I fully converted to GT.

So here today, I have decided, that I need to reconsider my stand.

Looking forward to give a serious look at FH5, and maybe who knows I would like the other games too, which have previously failed to convince me....

To 2nd chances ;)

Edit:
I really like your closing argument:

"Enjoy the beauty and embrace the silliness!"

That's what I have been missing....
My love for GT has taken away to enjoy things not so seriously...

That's probably what was missing during this pursuit for "perfection"...

Edit 2: coming from you @Nacho Libre , I appreciate it very much, I didn't realize until I came back to see has replied to me, but you are the few people I follow because of your good perspectives throughout the years. Cheers 🥂
