First wheel question and G29 + G27 shifter question

I'm thinking of getting a G29 as my first wheel and then getting the G27 shifter for additional buttons, but the buttons don't work on them so I was wondering if Logitech will launch an update so the buttons will be usable? So should I wait for some more stock of G27 or get the G29 and a G27 shifter as my first wheel? There isn't much difference between the 2 other then all the buttons on the wheel, better brake pedal and slightly better motors.

Depends whether you want to use it on console or pc.
