I won't rank them, but here goes.

Heartbreaker by Jimmy Page.
Scuttle Buttin' by Stevie Ray Vaughn
Let The Good Times Roll by Jimi Hendrix
something by Frank Zappa; haven't decided yet
La Grange or Tush by Billy Gibbons

Note that these mostly are in the blues-rock category; I'm not metal enough to pick out some of the speed demons from that side of thisngs.

All a good choice though. :)👍

Peter Frampton - Do you feel like I do. The live version.
Thats one of my favourites for sure.

That's an awesome song, especially with the mouth harp or what ever it is he uses.

It's a "Heil Talk Box".
It's a "stompbox" that has a hose that is attached to the mic stand and it makes the guitar "talk".

Jesus, how old are you people?

im 20. and believe me, all those choices are great. if you think you should pick some new guitarrist, you are dead. all they do is **** an effects pedal. no technic whatsoever.

for my top 5 solos:
-Jimmy Page - Dazed and confused (if live, WOW!!)
-Yngwie malmsteen - Evil eye
-Ritchie Blackmore (deep purple) - child in time
-David Gilmoure (pink Floyd) - comfortably numb
-John Petrucci (Dream Theater) - Ytse Jam

there are countless more... satriani, vai, vaughn, hammet, of course hendrix, clapton, bbking... the list goes on and on... but for my money, those just give me the creeps...

comedy option: Tom morello!!! ROTFLMAO!!!!

Not really a solo, but excellent guitar playing. Queens of the Stone Age - "Go With the Flow". Come on, how many people do you know that can hold a note so long?

I believe that is quite easy to do with an electric guitar.

This should be interesting. What songs do you think have the greatest guitar solos ever recorded?

For me Heartbreaker by Jimmy Page has the best guitar solo followed by:

Crazy Train by Randy Rhoads
All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix
Eruption by Eddie Van Halen
Voodoo Chile by Jimi Hendrix

Those are in no order save for Heartbreaker being number one.

I'm guessing Stairway to Heaven is going to top most lists.

listen to this. i like rap music, but the song i highlighted in blue, a new(er) kid to my school played that on his guitar for the talent show friday, and i even thought it was really good, as well as everyone else in my school. well anyway, some group of preppy cheerleaders got first place. the wave of "boo" was hilarious

Do you have something against us? I'm 13, and I absolutely despise rap music.

I'm probably the ump-teenth person to mention this, but..

Eddie Van Halen - "Eruption"

OMG LOL!!!11!

Just because Morello uses an effects pedal doesn't neccessarily mean he's bad. Although he's no Hendrix or Clapton, I believe that Morello is one of the best guitarists around right now. Give some credit where credit is due.

4) Sting of the Bumble bee - Man O' War

did you know that sting of the bumblebee is actually done on a Bass guitar?...through a rack of effects sure, but thats till a guitar technically...

anyone heard Satriani's Satch Boogie? or Big Bad Moon? even better live than on the studio albums..

this guy actually taught Hammet everything he knows...you can hear it in his style...

On the subject of bass guitars...anyone heard Cliff Burton's Pulling teeth (Anasthesia) bass solo on Kill 'em all?....

that was actually his audition piece when trying out for the Metallica bassist....not bad for 1983...and his live intros to For Whom the Bell Tolls is something to behold....from the early glory days of Metallica..

It's hard to narrow down to a certain # of songs (20+years of garage bands & "experimenting"), so I'll do it like this;
Don't get mad, but SRV takes Voodoo Chile to a whole new level, ESPECIALLY live!
Anything by Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Slash, Kirk Hammet Stevie Ray & of course, Jimi.
I also like Jerry Cantrell, Kim Thayhill, Joe Perry, Pepper Keenan & the guy in Prong.
Eddie fell off the throne years ago.
I could go on, but these are the guys who influence me the most.

Shame on you Bollocks! :irked: brilliant tune you'll like ;)

I'll have to think a bit for this one ....

Eddie Van Halen - Humans Being. Damn good.

Hell yea Sublimedood, Tom Morello is awesome. He really is one of the best right now in my opinion...I don't see how anybody can say he sucks. Oh holy ****, he uses effects... Its really quite cool to me, and he can play the regular solo stuff just fine. Listen to "Take the Power Back" on the first Rage album...its excellent.

Amen, I'd second that. The fact of the way he uses the affects and how he uses is sill pretty damn impressive, i'd like to see you doubters do what he does.
Personally I prefer the Battle Of Los Angeles Album...they're all soo good don't know which one to prefer  :p

got a different list:
(not in order)

audioslave - like a stone (or any audioslave song)
dishwalla - charlie brown's parents
zwan - mary star of the sea
smashing pumpkins (any song)
silverchair - greatest view
kent - 747
