Eek, I'm the opposite, more than once I've left the house with all the windows and curtains open :lol:
My mother was not amused. I did lock the doors though. :p
 
  • I used to be in a band many years ago, but quit when I started my Ph.D. The band carried on and have now released their first album, and my name appears in the credits as a friend of the band. Ironically for a bunch of atheists, the band was called 'The Devotionals' and I played organ/keyboards. I've been playing, writing and recording tunes since about 1990, and mostly play acoustic guitar and sing. I now go under the name 'Atlas Cedar' if I record anything at all.
  • At school I earned the nickname Chrissy Mouse (which I also used as my Amazon.co.uk pen-name when writing reviews. I used to be a Top 50 Amazon Reviewer but stopped writing reviews about 2 years ago.) Other nicknames have included 'Turismo' (my mate Tim still calls me that!! :) ), 'Zeeb' (a strange guy I went to school with still calls me that too), 'Fishface' (the school bully used to call me that), 'Slime' (because it sounds like my surname), 'Hiawatha/Big Chief Sitting Bull/Geronimo' (because I used to resemble a native American apparently) and 'Mars' (which people at UKGTP use sometimes).
  • I used to have very long hair - from the middle of high school to the end of my undergraduate degree, I didn't cut my hair for about 8 years. I had a nasty incident when I went to the hairdresser, and never went back... Unknown to me, just prior to entering the hairdresser shop, I had stood in a big dog poo. It was only on the bus home that I noticed a smell coming from my shoe. I looked down to see clumps of hair stuck to my shoe by the dog-poo. As usual, they were brand new shoes too... my one and only pair of Nike Air trainers. I had to scrape the hairy poo off the sole of my shoe with a plastic knife, and I nearly barfed about 10 times.
  • I've had 4 long-term relationships (of 18 months or more), and all of them have ended amicably - and I still know 3 of my ex-girlfriends. I've never cheated on a girlfriend, despite some very good opportunities. The closest I came to an infidelity was when I was 18, and a rather beautiful Alaskan girl gave me her address and told me to drop by for a coffee sometime (she thought I was a native American because of my hair! :lol: ). Against my better judgement one night, I went to her place, only to discover she was in the bath. I stood at the bathroom door and chatted to her like a total pillock for about 20 minutes, trying desperately not to stare at her rather attractive naked body. After she got out the bath, she got partially dressed and made me a cup of tea, and I fell asleep on her sofa. It turned out it wasn't actually her flat, and she was only 'dossing'... she didn't even have a bed, and she slept in a walk-in cupboard. (I actually tracked her down via the internet and know for a fact that she was in a band somewhere in Anchorage - she was a poet/lyricist.)
  • The most I've ever drunk in a 'weekend' was about 40 pints in three days - back in 2003 (?) when a friend had his stag weekend in Kinsale, Ireland. It sounds like an obscene amount of booze, but infact all 11 of the party had about the same - about 6 pints (as a starter) on the Thursday when we arrived, about 14 pints on the Friday and about 20 pints on the Saturday (ok, so that was a bit silly!)... but if you go to the pub at 12 noon and go home at 2 am, drinking an average of 1 pint an hour is very easy, especially with some hearty Irish lunches and dinners to help you out!!! I do not condone this sort of drinking, however, and have only ever had that much in one weekend on one other occasion, also in Ireland!

Like he said, if you spend a full day in the pub, drinking 1 pint an hour which is slower than a lot of people drink turns out to be a lot. From 12 noon to 2am that would be 14 pints at 1 an hour. Do that 3 days in a row and that's 42 pints. I have to say I've never had 20 pints in a day, I've had over 10 a good few times in my college years but the majority of the time these days I don't drink more than 5 or 6.

:lol: You might have a point there (as they say in Ireland :sly: ) We were drinking only Guinness, except for later at the nightclub where we switched to lager... but we also found a pub which did Smirnoff Ice on draught, and we all had a pint of that too :sick:

Yes, it's disturbingly easy. The Saturday was F.A. Cup final day, and we'd had 4 pints by half-time... slowed down a bit after that. We were in a kitty, and on the Friday, we were just buying rounds, which was a bit time-consuming... so by the Saturday, we figured out a much more streamlined system of just buying 6 pints and putting them on a central table. The guy who took the last pint went to the bar and bought 6 more from the kitty. That way, there was always a beer waiting for you... spent an absolute fortune that weekend, however... approx. 400 Euro (inc. the hostel and flights though), and it was worth every penny.
 
Well there you go, throw a football match into the mix and theres a good 5 pints in the match time alone, make that match a cup final and, well I think you get the idea.
 
Although I haven't posted much in the last few months, here 'goes:

1) I work at one of the best architectural firms in the province (Saskatchewan)... some of the bigger projects we've done: Sask Place, Saskatoon City Hospital and the College of Agriculture. I worked on the upgrades to Griffiths Stadium, which allowed them to host the Vanier Cup last year (Canadian college football's championship game). I am currently working on a new world-class competition swimming and tower diving pool.

2) My fiance and I have just bought a house and are expecting a baby in March.

3) Although I haven't played in a couple of years, basketball is my favourite sport to play. I've played in recreational leagues through university and then tech school. The thing I'm most proud of is that although I'm a 6' tall white guy from Canada, I could slam-dunk a basketball from grade 11 through my four years of university (I could likely do it again if I were to get back in shape).

4) My favourite music is electronic, namely Trance and Drum 'n Bass / Jungle. Currently, I've been listening to A LOT of jungle... the meaner the better!

5) If I could have any car as a daily driver, it would be a white 2007 MAZDASPEED 6 (AWD would be great here in winter). If I could have any truck as a daily driver, it would be a white 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche.
 
As a daily driver I'd prefer a BMW M5, it's got pace, space and good build quality.

Another 3 quick facts (would be 5 but the door bells just rang) and they'll have to be breif are...

I have a scar on my right knee from an accident when I was younger, it's faded alot in the last couple of years but I fell down a slope and ripped my knee open on the way down.

The longest cut I've ever had was two feet or more long, it went from the top of my left hip upto my right shoulder. I got that one from falling as well. It wasn't deep it was mainly superficial and didn't leave a scar.

I'm currently in the running for a managment position at work, if I get it I'll probably be driving a Focus MK2 by the end of the year.
 
okay, here goes:

1.: I prefer old european/japanese rwd cars, that were made before 90's. I also like 80's TV series like Macgyver and Knight Rider. As some of you know, I also have A Mullet (tm) (c)

2.: I hate, despise and loathe arachnids. I always kill them as soon as I see them. same goes for anything that has more than 4 legs and 2 eyes.

3.: I'm writing a fanfic based loosely on Initial D and Wangan Midnight. I'm trying not to mutilate the grammar.

4.: I was trained to hide in the woods with pipe bombs, heavy mines, light bazookas and Kalashnikov-copy, just in case that our eastern neighbour needs again some proper butt-kicking from small republic country called Finland. :D

5. I'm going to be a car mechanic within 1½ years if all goes well. Also, our class will start an interesting project within 2 months: we'll build a race car. rally- or track car, that haven't been decided yet, but we'll see.

i'll put up more later.
 
1. I love to autocross and would like to start road racing shortly.

2. My overall dream in life is to become a professional racing driver, but right now I work with computers.

3. One day I hope to travel all over Europe! :)

4. I can't stand bad drivers (not performance drivers, just everyday drivers), and generally annoying people.

5. I have two older sisters that I love, although generally they give me a hard time. (Being the only boy I had a rotten childhood, you could imagine! :lol: )
 
1. I had a vasectomy in October of 2001.

2. When I left the hospital, there was a double rainbow in front of my exit.

3. I believe that was a sign from God.

4. So does my wife.

5. It took 4 days to recover from the operation.

I am very happy with that decision, and so is the missus.

Hmmm, it would be nice to go to sleep without double checking the pill packet. A ballsy decision. ;)

I had mine done in 2000, recovery time was above the same and the swelling never got too bad, I did walk like John Wayne for a few days.

1. My username's a giant load of crap. I don't watch wrestling anymore.
2. I nearly killed myself when I was 6 by punching my left hand through a glass window. The scars have faded over the years but are still there.
3. I can't really drive a stick shift too well. (prepares to get flamed)
4. My car is actually a Mercury Sable despite me calling it a Ford Taurus.
5. I've never tried any illegal or legal drugs and don't plan to.

Chalk me up for February 2006. Hard to believe it's been almost a year already. We decided we weren't going to have any more kids long before we found out about being CF carriers. That sealed the deal, though.

And no, it wasn't that bad. Stung for a few days, but over all, not bad.

1. I passed All my exams at school, college and university.
2. ...but haven't had a long term job since leaving school.
3. I have more than 12 years driving experience.
4. ...and have never had any points on my license.
5. I own more than a quarter million Lego bricks.
