Why do people do this? its just childish if you ask me.
"If im going then im deleting the room" nothing worse than setting the car up then just as you drive off everyone is kicked.

Hypothetically if you host a fixed room with friends or people who live close enough to you and you have a good connection: wouldn't there be the possibility for a smoother room. You are essentially employing your PS3 as the server in most ways from what I understand.

Also if someone hosts a room with particular characteristics and a name they wish to keep unique, rather than risk passing it on to a bunch of twerps giving it a bad reputation they can make sure no one else gets the room.

I'm sure there are other reasons, but just like unfixed rooms, there are good and bad things.

👍

Setting up a drift room, hours later you all go and the room gets passed onto some guys that arnt even drifting, someone from another drifting team joins expecting the original people and get x2010's and 4wd cars.

In that case closing the room upon leaving would of been good.

Very useful for when you make rooms with GTP in the title to organize a race here on the forum. Whether people wander in or not, when the GTP event is over... we don't want to leave the room lingering for people to mess around in. Especially now with all the people doing the SSR7 thing, if a GTP race ended and some non-member was left in charge of the room and started doing the money hack with a bunch of friends and then someone else joins the GTP titled room expecting to find good racers but instead finds a bunch of cheaters... we ALL lose respect and this great forum will start to become associated with that kind of people.

On the other hand, leaving it unchecked means that if you're hosting a room (say maybe during a very important series race) and your power goes out suddenly or your internet dies, the room stays open and everyone can continue to race. You wouldn't get to finish the race and may drop in the series point standing, but it's better than everyone getting booted. Then you have 15 angry people and then you have to figure out if you're going to drop the race from the series or redo it or whatever.

I've hosted a few casual rooms with Fixed Host before & I always let the other people know that I'm leaving shortly & the room will close when necessary, I guess it comes down to manners really.

:)

Basicly what welsh said, if you were joining a drifting room and it is fixed room ownership you can be 99 % certain that the owner will be making sure people are drifting 👍
