Ok mate will so that thanks.

Well, I guess it's based on the Sony server you are connected to. :sly:

As German you are connected to Sony DE, Yapanese are connected to Sony JP, French to Sony FR, ... my bet is your Scottish guys getting thrown into the UK pot because Scotland don't have their own Sony PSN servers?

I think there's no solution, sorry. :indiff:

Youll have to make a scottish profile. Assuming psn has scotland labeled as a region.
There is no way to change the region of a profile after its been created.

It's the same for some of my brothers north of the border here, as Northern Ireland is a part of Britain so they all get a Union Jack flag. It's the same for the English, Northern Irish, Scottish & Welsh players on SEN (formally known as PSN)

Thankfully GTPlanet doesn't tar everyone with the same brush.

As far as I know there's no way round this, but you should maybe start a petition :)

as I am not British I am Scottish

Have a passport? Look inside it. Your nationality is British.

You may also be Scottish, but your nationality is "British". That means you wear the British flag when your nationality is represented in GT5.

If Scotland votes to become independent, then your nationality will become Scottish. Until then, it isn't - any more than mine is English or Welsh (or Yorkshirish, or Sheffieldish).

All I know is I am Scottish and would like to fly my flag on GT5 as I am sure those who are English, welsh or northern Ireland want to fly there flag.

I, too, am a Scot. I'd love for PD to fix this, but its a rather minor oversight. Fix everything else first.

Your nationality is British. You get the British flag to fly.

britain isn't a country, though is it?
it's a kingdom full of countries.

Anyway, when scots drive rally cars they put a scotland flag in the window.
That's what the OP wants.
I'd feel the same if all i got was the option of a europe flag.

I've seen a few Scottish drivers in my day, and when they flew a flag, it was the Scottish flag. That being said, after knighthood one certain F1 driver then became known as Sir Jackie Stewart.

I get where you're coming from, Famine, but surely you know that this has been a sore spot for quite some time.

I say give 'em the choice. What harm could it do?

The nationality of anyone who lives in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is... "British". Not Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish* nor English, but "British". Thus we get a British flag to represent our nationality.

Scotland is to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as Minnesota is to the United States of America - a state with its own legislative powers within the auspices of a larger union (and in fact "Union" - in both cases). People who live or were born in Scotland have British nationality, just as people who live or were born in Minnesota have United States nationality.

Whether it's a "sore spot" or not is irrelevant. Whether real racing drivers get to put a Saltire or St. George's Cross on the racing car is irrelevant. In Gran Turismo 5 we get flags that represent our nationality and the nationality of Scots, Welsh, Ulstermen* and English alike is British.

Edit: Of course, it's a PSN (SEN) thing, rather than a GT5 thing. Silly me.

*Due to a series of laws to allow for it, people who have Northern Ireland in their heritage - by birth, family or residence - may have either of or both British and Irish nationality and citizenship.
