Why so high strung?

I mean with the exlamation marks and everything

I can't believe the response this topic has gotten.

My PS3 breaks down, I make this thread to see if anybody knows about the problems and can offer help, but what happens? Me, my statements and my efforts to find the problem get rediculed, disected, scoffed at, laughed at, shrugged off, and chastised, all the while I'm dealing with the stress of a broken $650 piece of equipment and a $150 repair bill looming.

As I've said, aggressive, high stung behavior is everywhere, but I never ever thought it would show up in a thread like this. never. This is a new low

How about because.....

Sometimes they dont have full working consoles laying around they can just send you, so they diagnose the problem to a certain part (PSU, fan, mobo, HDD, BD drive, etc, etc) then swap the part and send it back.

Or else it means that the 20GB and 60GB units have been out of production for a long time, so there aren't any/many lying around new in a box just waiting to be sent to someone who is out of warranty, so Sony will fix what's wrong with yours rather than sending you a new/refurb one.

Wow, a helpful post. That make perfect sense and is most likely the reason. Thanks.

What did Duke say that I didn't??? Hell I even gave you that answer first!

He gave the same explination as me, but you decided to have a go at me and not him.

Seriously though, what is wrong with people these days?! I have never seen such hostility and aggression before in my life! It's everywhere and can be clearly seen on the internet, even at places like youtube. How many times in the comment sections have you seen hostility and aggression.

Maybe all those army simulators you play in the form of FPS and horror movies like SAW is getting to you guys. Maybe its the Iraq war. Seriously, this behavior is disturbing. I even see myself getting affected by it at times.

Or maybe it's because you're talking to us as if you're above us. Maybe it's because you're sticking your fingers in your ears and going "la la la la" instead of reading what we're telling you. And threatening to put us on your ignore list, just because we disagree with you.

You're in 2% of owners who have had issues with their PS3.
You bought a brand new form of electronics - which could not undergo proper testing until it was out on the market - in its early stages.
You VOIDED the warranty. Sony does not have to give you jack.

Something that you could have probably come up with too if you had enough common sense, rather than blind belief that this is anyone's fault but your own. Thanks for the help, Duke. 👍

What exactly were you hoping to accomplish with this thread?

Can a moderator please close this already?

Duke was calm, collective and straightforward. He mentioned the fact that the reason why they will fix the console and not replace it is because they are most likely out of 20GB and 60GB models.

He answered my question in one sentence

You howeve seemed more intent on trying to make me look like a fool then anything. That's why as you said, I had a "go" at you. Because I'm sick and tired with dealing with your type on the internet, that type that goes around just looking for a fight or some stupid internet argument to win to build whatever little self confidence you have up

If you look at all my previous posts you'll see I always try to be helpful, and the ONLY person I have had confrontation with is Robin.

Look at my previous posts and you'll find out why.

The reason I responded like I did is because of the same reasons Giancarlo said....

You seem to think Sony owe you something because your PS3 broke and is out of warranty. You are just trying to justify thay Sony should pay for it to get fixed when at the end of the day the product is out of warranty and Sony don't owe you anything.

If your TV broke after 2 years and it had a 1 year warranty then the same rules would apply to that!

If you had a 2 month old PS3, TV or anything else and there was a power surge then you would not expect the manufacturer to fix it or for the power company to replace it for you would you?!

You would have to either take it on the chin and pay up or call your insurance company......the EXACT same applies here.

Also, I just want to add, that because you voided the warranty by opening it up then even IF it was a common fault Sony would not touch it!

I have seen people be refused to get their XBOX 360 repaired from RRoD because it had been opened even though it was still covered by the 3 year warranty.

Your PS3 is OUT OF WARRANTY and you have opened it....so thats a double whammy!

NOTE: I am using the XBOX 360 here as an EXAMPLE.

Just for the record (and I know it means nothing), my week 2 PS3 has done more Folding than anybody here I'm pretty sure. I haven't had any issues that weren't game/network related.
I'm trying to catch up. You had a six-month headstart.

But you do make a point. I think if this was a Folding issue you and I would have noticed by now.

They who bought a $600 PS3 and didn't get an extended warranty is the guy we all point and laugh at.
Go ahead, laugh and point at me.

So much misinformation in this thread.

Sony has a warehouse full of 60GB units. Mine broke, and I got a brand new PS3.

Brand new.

You will not receive the same unit, and all of your data will be lost. You will get a new one in a few days.

And how many 60GB motherboards do you think they have "laying around?" You don't know, and I don't know.
Sega had Dreamcasts sitting around for parts purposes until a couple of years ago when they sold out their remaining stock and stopped repairing units. They stopped making Dreamcasts in 2001.
SNK repaired Neo-Geo systems up until last year. The Neo-Geo went out of production eleven years ago. Unless Sony is particularly stupid for a hardware manufacturer, they have plenty of 60GB PS3s around, and plenty of individual parts on top of those whole units. Especially with their aspirations of the console having a 10 year life span.

When my PS2 broke 3 months after the warranty ran out, I got it replaced free. I was 17. Being kind, courteous, and friendly will get you much further than thinking it's your god given right to demand amazing service on a gold platter.
Same here. My 2nd PS2 went berserk and wrecked my copy of Need For Speed Underground, and not only did they send me a completely new one but they also paid for the game. To be honest, they were facing a rather large class action at the time, but still.

How do you know it was brand spanking new and not just refurbished hardware in a shiney new casing???

Mmmmm all refurbished hardware MUST have a label indicating it's refurbished, by law.

Please don't make me think you're just asking this out of the blue, you seem to be just trying to get a) Attention b) some answer that'll make this thread closed.

I can even understand people not liking a thread that talks not so good things about a product that is so loved by so many, but please, stop this nonsense word fire that you seem so pleased to feed. Keep playing your working PS3 instead, some of us envy you in that way.

I bought my ps3 not long after they were released and I had to send it back. Mine flashed and beeped as well. They told me there was a hardware problem, but not exactly what was wrong with it. They sent me another one. Since then I've never had a problem.

It's not the law in the UK! So dont think im just trying to get this thread closed or im "seeking attention".

I was genuinely curious, because over here they dont have to tell you if its new or refurbished.

All you had to say was the first line of your reply and nothing more. The whole world doesn't have the same laws as the US by the way.

No refurbished label.

Thats all I needed to know.

He's in Mexico. ;)

Still, the law in the UK is different from where he and Jeremy Ricci live.

They have to be told if its a refurb, where as we do not, so him thinking im trying to get the thread closed or im seeking attention because of my question means he must think the whole world has similar laws with regards to refubed consoles which is just not true.

Different laws for different countries regarding refurbished products.

Congrats!

You have found another subject to talk about in a this thread. +1 on your post count, no 2 because you'll surely reply to this one. Somehow I know you will. :)

And to make this clear, you said..."he must think the whole world has similar laws with regards to refubed consoles which is just not true" But you do have the right to think that because there isn't that kind of law in the UK Jeremy Ricci couldn't be capable of knowing if his PS3 was a refurbished item or not. Come on! aren't you doing the same? Thinking that "the whole world has similar laws with regards to refubed consoles which is just not true" Do you get me now with my comment that you are just making a nonsense word fire which you seem happy to feed? Please, stop it and let Earth's thread keep it's focus.
