Well, again, here's the thing: with the new ILMC specs, LMP1 cars have been restricted down to pretty much old LMP2 specs in terms of power. I'm not talking about running GT1 as that class of GT car is pretty much dead now.
A modern Le Mans championship only runs GTE cars which are more in line with GT2 specs of old.
Ok, wait; what? I think I need some serious clarification here lol.
According to this post:
I think that is actually a better idea, since most people seem to have interest in the GT1 and LMP1 classes only. I'm going to send a PM over to everyone who chose a GT2 or LMP2 car.
This series is being cut down to only LMP1 and
GT1 due to that being the prevailing interest. I agree that GT1 is dead and that's why it holds no interest for me. If this is going to run GTE type cars (F458, GT, M3GT2, etc.) then I'm still interested, but if as it says it will be GT1 cars (MC12, C6.R, etc.) then there's nothing here for me. A little clarification please?
And I'm done with true realism in Forza or GT. It gets in the way far too much when trying to run a series within the confines of a console. If you want a realistic Le Mans series, you're going to have to go rFactor. And no, iRacing isn't the ideal platform either. No LMP1, no La Sarthe, only GT1 cars.
Anyway, yeah, work with me guys, remember it would be your championship, not the FIA's
I agree that realism is not so important as 'spirit of the competition' so to speak, but I'm not sure what you're meaning here. I was assuming that the GT class would be a max PI restriction to the top of whatever class the cars start out in (if GTE the R3-800) and allow the drivers to use the (very good) in-game upgrades to max their car in its class. Similarly, LMP1 would simply be a max PI of R1-998 and allow all the cars to be de-restricted up to this limit. As far as I know, all race cars can now hit either the top of their class or 1 PI below it with the new upgrades, so this would actually give better parity then running them all stock. The only thing I was envisioning as a 'stock' class was LMPC that would use the FLM and have the "Allow Upgrades" option set to "No" so that all the FLMs are the same. This all making sense?
Basically, this would allow any R3 race car to run in the GT class and any R1 LMP car to run in LMP1, with LMPC being a spec class, which is close enough to real life that it satisfied me.
Anyways, that's just my $0.02
It looks like the race times might not be lining up with what I would need anyways, so it might all be irrelevant in the end.
