The one thing that has annoyed me in the GT Series Of Games are the sounds. They arent Real enough. Things such as Vtec transition and cars flying past at fast speeds. Say the cars are at 9000 rpm. u can only hear low rpm noises wen they fly past. And when shifting gears, the transition noise isnt very good. very slow in fact

does anyone else share these same views?

But other than that. love the game. looking forward to gt4. hopefully we can feel the boost or vtec this time.

I didn't seem to notice anythign wrong. Keep in mind, they have to create a natural phenomenon (whoa, sp) in a video game, not simple stuff. (Dopler effect).

I am happy with the engines as they are although, i never say no to an improvement. The Honda Sport Concept in GT prologue sounds amazing when driven, just unlocked it today! :D
The sounds coyuld easily be alot worse than they are like in R: Racing Evolution where all cars sound the same, plus the noise they make is crap. In Gran turismo you can hear the air intake aswell as the engine revving also the blow off from turbo's is there although i suppose it should be more pronounced.

....yeah i like the sound of the spoon civic in Prologue too!!!...it´s just WOW!!!(16000rpm or was it 17000rpm?)....this honda is a rpm-beast.......

...well ok perhaps u´re right but i´m not lookin at that wrong point in the GT series....cuz everyone finds sth diferent wrong:
i for example find it sooOOO wrong from the guys of PD that they NEVER put in "THE REARWARDS LIGHTS" of the cars which have them(of course a GT-One Racecar or a Formular car hasn´t such a thing but road cars and many many other have them!!!)
and probably WON`T put that little but for me very important detail in GT4!!! :(:(:(
...why oh why?...even fun/arcade racers like NFS-HP2 have it and why not "The Real Driving Simulator"????......

The main reason it's not as realistic as it could be (imo) is because of the lack of reflecting and echoing sounds.

The way sound builds up to an observer when a very loud and fast car is accelerating towards them is not something the PS2 can calculate, because each unique sound of "fly past" is a huge collection of sounds echoing off of buildings, walls, and hills.

The most realistic they can get it is to just have different engine notes for either end of each car... which is pretty much what they've done already. All intake and exhaust sounds were sampled independant of one another for GT4.

For me, sounds are way more important.. but yeah reverse lights would be nice. :)

lol reverse lights. its would be a nice feature.

yeh i guess our ps2s just cant handle it. But i have noticed that in some formula one games, the fly past is in fact pretty real. so i dunno. maybe the guys at PD can do it.

Only the final release will reveal it i guess.

Thanks dudes for ur opinions

People complain about sound quite a bit, but I honestly never payed enough attention to see what the big fuss was. Everything is improved with time. I bet in GT4 it will be better.
