Hi everyone, I'm new here.
Can anyone help, I like racing online and my favorite pp is anything between 450/550.
Every room with a pp between 450 to 550 ends up being dominated by racers using the Focus RS
Does anyone know of a car that can beat a Focus RS, I've rarely seen them beaten online unless the driver is not that good.
Any car suggestions please ?
 
Maybe you should try with Dome Zero,Mazda RX500 or Ferrari Dino. But I'm not sure they can beat the RS.
 
I only use the PS3 Sony controller, and couldn't handle the RX500 at all !
Bought one for 500,000, tried a few laps and sold it !

Thanks for your help though, by the lack of response it does seem the Focus is unbeatable as i feared : (
 
New? Firstly, here's a warm GTPlanet welcome. Now what we got here..

Focus RS?! Hmm.. there are worse than that, I know.

Anyone agrees the NSXs are beasts at the PP limits. Same with the HSV, the premium Imprezas, the 86 family, the RUF R-GT, the old M3s, the speedster, the Dino, the S2000s.. and more. Feel free to try these out.

Maybe the reason the Focus RS are dominating are because they've been adjusted for the track so that they're optimized for the track you race on. Some tunes exist to make any car drivable, so I wouldn't sell that RX500, but oh well.

Don't lose hope yet! I have an Isuzu that's a top level 500pp racer. It hasn't disappointed me after tuning. Just get a nice car, and head over to the tuning forum. Me? An 86 GT or an Elise will be a nice starter car to mess with.

Don't let the idea of the DS3 get you down - in many cases it's faster than a wheel. Practice and practice.

The E46 M3 family isn't to be messed with. My number 1 go to car for that PP bracket.
 
I was in a few races yesterday at 550PP and about 4 or 5 of the 12 people in the room were using Focuses, The between them they were always getting places 2-6, but the only car I managed to beat them in is in Prairano's RE Amemiya RX-7 (tune is here), even then it was close, and they were a lot faster on the straights!

But definitely give the RX-7 a go!

Interesting to note the proliferation of online rooms with "No Focus" in the title.

We had this problem racing online at the Nurb on the weekend. Set laps to 2 and tyre wear to maximum. Focus problem fixed.

I've got a Focus RS ( hasn't everyone :lol: ) and I've got a lap ghost at Deep Forest, 500pp, RS tyres, SRF, ABS1, Auto transmission , the time I set was 1.11766.
The closest I've got to that was with the RX8-07 ( thanks XPOWER! ), I've run at 1.12134

I'm not a great one for tuning, mainly tinkering with some FF cars suspension to help correct the understeer problems, so I'm sure someone could batter my times at Deep Forest !

You are probably being beat by the power to weight ratio. I know it's hard to find decent rooms, but you're setting yourself up by not racing with a minimum weight and some sort of HP cap. Look for cars that have a similar power to weight ratio.
 
I love the Lamborghini Countach and I use it to beat most Focus RS drivers at 500PP. Very rarely does a Focus RS beat me, especially on a high speed track.
Ferrari Enzo, Lambo Miura will also beat the Focus handily at the higher PP. At lower PP, I think the Dino will do the job. Yes and the RX500 is a beast which could probably beat all.

edit: The Shelby Series 1 is also a good choice at 500+.

I've noticed quite a few rooms now banning the Focus and the RX 500.
I've found a good way to stop a car/player dominating a room is to set up the room saying winner has to change car.
Makes it more fun !

the RS smokes my NSX type R, S2000 and 86's, RUFs handle like crap...
 
Have you tried the 1984 Ford RS200 I know it's a Ford but it's awesome at 450pp.

I also love the Lotus 111s it's a beast. Tunes great upto what you like.

I also love the Amuse 380 Super Leggera. However it is a tuners car but if allowed its fun at 550pp.

I don't care if I loose so long as I enjoy the car I'm driving though. I'd rather be fourth in a car I love than win in a gimme car.
 
I've mentioned this elsewhere that the only car in my garage to contest my 500PP Focus is the Trial Celica ... also tuned to 500PP (336bhp / 959kg) it goes like the wind but has been banned from the odd room online 'cus they say it's a race car! :(

Where do you get the Trial Celica, can't see it under Toyota ?
