Obviously, I am not the only one to have noticed this. But what I am making this thread about, is this small paragraph from the news:

The video trailer released for the car also shows off a suspiciously foggy Nurburgring… Stay tuned for more info!

This may just be my hypedness clouding things, but is this actually meant to be hinting at something? Or is this just simply noting what many of us may have observed.

@Jordan is very busy usually, and I understand that even if he does know, he couldn't tell us in case plans change or simply because he isn't allowed to..

But I am honestly wondering about whether or not this fog is anything to get excited about for the future. What do you think, GTP?

Definitely possible. It just intrigues me to wonder why to add such a cool effect to a track and not use that hard work later on.

Some of these promo shots are likely done on a far more powerful computer where they can do things not possible on the PS3. They've been known to do things like this before. It certainly is a tease though.

It's just a tease. PS4 maybe, I don't believe we'll see any more graphical tweaking on the PS3. Things like fog would hit the framerate in a bad way. I don't believe PD would spend any time getting the engine to do large scale effects like that on the PS3 when it struggles with things like tire smoke.

Of course I could be wrong! :D

(Oh and I believe the sentence is just worded in a strange way, the stay tuned for more info is about the new Nissan car not new fog effects on the 'ring)

I voted Possibly... they did a good job of improving the tire smoke fairly recently, so it's possible. In my heart of hearts though, I think it may be just a glimpse of the future... to come in GT7. A nice surprise to see, as this gets my imagination flowing for the future prospects of the series.

Cheers

I once take a photo like this, is that a fog over the trees? :odd:

No way. The game would just crash if you tried to run that track with fog. GT6 already has the PS3 wound up about as tight as it will go.

Oh, and I didn't vote because the answer isn't "No, it's PD" It's "No, it's seven year old hardware"

What you saw there was GT7 running on PS4. It looked like GT6 but, you be wrong. :D
how long until people start to say we were promised fog at nurburgring and PD did not deliver?
PD promised us fog and never they delivered it! KAAAAAAAAAAAZ!!!!!

I don't know anything about fog, probably it was used only in trailer.
But I want to know, when we will see particle effects activated on the 24 hours layout of the ring? Did PD just forgot to set false to true in their code? Because I see no reason to leave it deactivated, we have it on all the other layouts.
I don't get it, why we have no smoke, spray, dirt and skidmark effects on 24 hours track!?

There is already some kind of fog but not as tick as on the video
i saw that on several tracks like Le Mans or Spa Francorchamps before dusk and at dawn
also after a rain on autumn ring

That's what is was wondering about
did they modeled a kind of 'what the weather can be' based on the calendar ?
i mean, like less chances to have rain or heavy rain when in summer ?
i have yet to see some lightning or thunderbolt, would be great :)
