Where I live, there is more chance of heavy rain in summer. One summer storm can drop more rain in 10 minutes than we get all winter!

The VW VGT?
The Nissan

There is already some kind of fog but not as tick as on the video
i saw that on several tracks like Le Mans or Spa Francorchamps before dusk and at dawn
also after a rain on autumn ring

Yes it's possible that all they needed for thick fog was to tweak a single parameter, but I'm not sure if that means it'll show up in the game or just some fancy look they wanted for a trailer.

PD Designer Staff: Kaz, we can't get the tire smoke right! it's either too pixelated, or too pronounced, either not in mirror, or all smoke and mirrors! either lowers FPS too much, we have been playing with this since GT5 patch 1.01 and now GT6 1.08

what to do?

Kaz: it's Fog.

You can get fog on the weather tracks but you have to get lucky. Similarly with cloud formations. There is probably a hundred different skies for each weather track. (as far as I can tell)

You just have to keep adjusting the weather settings until you get one you want.

I know it's not fog but it shows what kinds of skies and environments you can get in GT6.

yep I do the same thing, even with GT5, there are different types of 50% weather condition

That last pic is amazing. If it wasn't for the GT-R I would've thought it was GT5.

Something tells me it's a feature possible in-engine, but not on the hardware that GT6 is made to run on. Sort of like how we saw the VW VGT racing at Gema Solar - it may be something being held back for a future iteration on stronger hardware.

We can see fog often in the distance of many maps now, it's usually used to hide the low-res skybox or super-distant scenery. It'd make sense if it's the same fog in the Nissan video, just made lower-res to fit within the PS3's hardware limits.

what i would like to see is the steam/fog rising from the hot asphalt as sun comes out after the rain.. same with the heat haze - on the road as well as on the exhausts..

There is heat haze on some tracks during replay. Tsukuba has it. Or maybe that was in GT5? Pretty sure I've seen it though.

Then why do it if it's never going to be taken any further? I just don't understand.
Why?

Why we don't get this in gt5, or gt6?
Why we don't get zahara track, etc...
Just kaz, or pd knows why... Sadly

I just set the time to 8am and weather to 50% and consistently get a foggy ring...

But yeah, having it so it's so thick that you're blindly chasing a pair of tail-lights through the fog to battle for the next position - that would be nerve-wrackingly good!

I've said many times before:

What Gran Turismo needs is a living atmosphere.

When I go to a racetrack, and I'm driving on it, I'm watching the clouds. I'm watching the dust accumulate on the edges of the circuit. I'm watching parts fall off of other cars... I'm watching Sun come out and go behind clouds. I drive accordingly.

I feel the temperature and wind change, I adjust gear ratios accordingly.

In Gran Turismo, though, the differences in the atmosphere are too small. When 100% weather is on the way, I want to see nearly black skies... Puddles forming when it does start raining.

I want an environment which can go from foggy, to heavy rain, to Sun all in the case of a lap sometimes. I've driven on days where one minute, you'll be in the deepest puddles, to the point of needing to pull over... Only to have dry road 100 metres ahead.

Those sorts of things make every race unique and exciting. The grip levels are always changing; in rallycross, the snow melts as cars drive over it with their warm tires and freezes as ice... In karting, the car that went off course kicks up a plume of dust so thick you can't see what's going on, and the track becomes dusty and slick for the remainder of the race. The rain stops, and the tires push the water off of the racing line; you can visibly see the dry line forming again
