Foobar 2000 help needed

I just started using this great little player. But, damn, I'm so lost with all these strings and columns I don't know what to do! :ouch:

Can someone please explain the über-basics of these strings, like changing color and stuff? And also, I got one of these plug-ins called Toaster, which is supposed to be like Winamps songticker. Problem is, that the box shows up but it's empty. No songname, album nor anything.

Help gladly appreciated! 👍
 
Hmm...that's rather vague. I'm not sure if I can help much. Try perusing the hydrogen audio forums.
 
Columns UI is a third-party component for fb2k. It's basically a replacement GUI that adds column-support. The other advantage is it can export its settings, so users can trade and swap configs in a breeze. These configss are exported as .fcs files.

Basically, in the Columns UI preferences you want to look for a big "Import" button. Which is what you use to import the FCS file.

All in all, fb2k is an advanced little player that takes awhile to get the jist of. But damn is it powerful once you do!
 
Yeah. Well, what I'd suggest is starting with someone else's FCS file and customizing it from there. Pay attention to how they have things coded and set up...It helped me learn a whole lot.

Click on the "Other" Tab, dude! 👍

If you still don't have it, then go install the newest thing.
 
I'm waiting until .9 is a full release instead of a beta.

You're running fb2k 0.8.3. I'm running the fb2k 0.9 beta. 0.8.3 components don't work with 0.9, hence a newer version of Columns UI is required if you use the 0.9 betas. A lot has changed in the new Columns UI revisions.

Gah, just downloaded the beta and I get an errormessage every time I start it up. "utf8api.dll couldn't be found."
And also:
"Failed to load DLL: foo_ui_columns.dll
Reason: Can't find the specified component."

Dude? :boggled:

:odd: I don't have that dll and it runs fine for me. Are you running XP or Win2K?

I'm back to the "regular" Foobar, not the beta one, and it works fine.
It is now looking like this:

(Saved as .gif cause I'm lazy :P)

Funny thing happened. I was at my grandpa's place and since they only had Winamp on their PC I used that. Man! It was like going back to WMP 1.0! Totally simple, barely any functions! I tell ya, Fb2k whips the lamaa's ass.


Edit: Sorry for being so asking, but how do you change the buttons? (Play, pause, stop etc.)

Did you make those colors yourself? I'm still puzzled as how to change it. I'm tired of plain black and white of the default. I also have tried to import .fcs files but they just seem to make foobar crash. :(

Nope, sorry. Not my work. :indiff: I don't know how to change it either. :grumpy:
