let's see how f1 championship edition is...I know it isn't PD but it's sony europe's branch that is making it...If there is FFB in that game perhap's we won't have to worry.

I will not buy GT5 without FF. This is stupid, some lawsuit?

I thought the lawsuit was over the rumble feature? Rumble isn't the same as FF, so what's the problem?

yes, the lawsuit is about Dualshock PS2 controller Vibration Motors patents ONLY.
Sony is being stubborn w/ Immersion regarding licensing FFB on Steering Wheels with SONY PS3 titles [F1, GTHD]

Immersion is willing to license FFb to Sony for their PS3 titles right now [I emailed Immersion], but SONY won't deal with Immersion untuil the DS PS2 appeal is finalised ... it should be any day now

I asked Immersion directly about the PS3 FFB License:

They Replied:

"Immersion is and always has been willing to license its technology to
Sony on reasonable business terms. There are no restrictions in the
timing of entering such a license.

"The worst of all worlds is using a high quality Force Feedback wheel, such as the Logitech G25 Racing Wheel or Driving Force Pro in “rubber-band” mode. In this mode, the Force Feedback motor is used to automatically center the wheel like a mechanical spring or a rubber-band. In my experience, even the best Force Feedback motors operate poorly as a rubber-band; they generally aren’t smooth enough and the gears in the motor can be unnecessarily loud.

Recently, it has been reported that the Playstation 3 will feature neither Rumble nor Force Feedback. I can say from personal experience that it’s very difficult to create a high end racing simulation experience without Force Feedback. I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult it would be to deliver an immersive racing experience without even rumble. Again, without Controller Rumble, even the casual racing gamer suffers. "

I'm looking forward to Forza 2 - I feel that "Turn 10 & Microsoft" is more in touch with the "digital - racing community" than PD & Sony

It looks as if this guy is based in Tokyo or at least visits tokyo regularly, based on his other material, so it would be no surprise that ffb is working on his ps3.

oh, no suprise then - its prolly a Japanese. PS3

- by the way Europe is getting a GT5 prologue version after GTHD http://www.jeuxvideo.fr/gt-5-gt-hd-gt-gran-turismo-ps3-actu-69630.html (sorry for that one - was already posted)

...Is there any chance to hook up a PAL PS3 to an American HD TV with HDMI ???

.Is there any chance to hook up a PAL PS3 to an American HD TV with HDMI ???

from http://www.hdmi.org/consumer/faq.asp
"Q. What types of video does HDMI support?

HDMI has the capacity to support existing high-definition video formats (720p, 1080i, and 1080p/60). It also has the flexibility to support enhanced definition formats such as 480p, as well as standard definition formats such as NTSC or PAL."

According to that HD formats are different from SD formats ,so you should be able to use euro ps3 HD in "ntsc" tv. Im quite sure that you can output 60Hz picture from euro ps3. Nearly all HDTVs here take 50Hz or 60Hz picture.

Why do you want a PAL PS3 if you live in NY?(all games are regionfree)

This might be right so...

If not, Im sorry though.
But Im still thinking that the PS3 is a waste until it fixes its bugs.
